I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Kenny Lattimore's silky distinctive voice. His singing of this song just caresses over me like a warm blanket. I play it on repeat very often. I love guitarist and songwriter Jeffrey Scott Buckley too -- I hope he's resting in paradise. ♥
@chrisanthemum7 I agree! This song definitely has a Maxwell vibe! I wish Jeff Buckley was still alive to continue laying our jams like this!! This song makes me float!
Hi edagdwg thanks for sharing this story of what happens when you get blessed to have the woman that wants only you God bless you I have that man that 💯 a good woman would love to have he's mine a gift from God Linda j peace 🦋🦋🦋🦋🐻🐻🐻🐻🐻💯💯
Kenny is rippin this joint to smitherines, he made this joint his song. Dayumm bruh you are a bad boeyy!! Keep blessing us with your wonderful God given talent bruh!!!!
Gerardo. B Well of course Geraldo, you are taking it literally. What I am saying is Kenny sung that sung as if it was written by him or for him, I am not trying to take Jeff’s thunder but Kenny owned this song and you and everybody in this comment board knows it. He actually took the vocals to a whole new level that this song has never seen before and I am including Jeff as well God bless his soul. Kenny is an incredible talent and one of the very few who could pull this off and make it sound better than the original!
@@barbarian778 incredible talent no doubt but nothing ground breaking, tons of rnb artists that can replicate the sound but you cannot own a song if it sounds close to the original with slight adjustments. Just look at the biggest differences between the original "Hallelujah" and Jeff's version. Totally different. Compare it to these two and you don't hear much of a difference just the voice and some instruments added in but Jeff's version I belive is more natural.
This in my opinion is one of the greatest love songs ever written Jeff Buckley was the man for this one but Kenny tore it up and I agree with the comment that Maxwell could probably smoke this song aswell but Personally I would love love love to see prince cover this one!!!
atherbest05 Are you delusional, Jon B can’t hold Kenny’s jockstrap on his version of this song. I can’t believe you said that, you know nothing about real singers or singing!
Kenny smooth as hell on this!!! YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO "GET THE GURL" w/this one!! It got a MAXWELL 'feel' to it!! This cover is BETTER. IT'S JUST SOME FLY @SS SH!T w/the way he singing it!! Just feel like You/Her there, in the dark.. SLOW DANCING!!✔
@Vincentdbs You state that as if the original artist and Jon B. didn't give it soul. Actually, I think Jeff can't be touch by Kenny or Jon B. on this song. Nice try by Kenny and Jon B. though.
People here are just biased, mostly who says that this "put the original to shame" are blacks, of course they are biased on their own genre and artists.
Rum1975.. Little obsessive dear... seek help. Kenny did wonderful and I like Jeff Buckley too.... People should just enjoy music and stop creating unnecessary soap opera.
Not even approaching Buckley. The musical track is so sparse and the vocal turns this into a prince B-side with under-emotional over riffing.. But still not a bad cover ;)
+K E Sandler You have got to be kidding me, Kenny Murdered this song and made it his own. This is what you would call sanging, not taken anything at all away from Buckley but Ken sung this 10 times better with soul, passion and energy. I listen to the original version and their is no way the original can come close to this version and that's just a fact!!!
This isn't even palatable in the same breadth as Jeff's version..I have respect for his almost listenable cover but I know people who work with kenny and his wife and their music is just cookie cutter modern R&B. -Buckley was a true legend. There is nothing even remotely close vocally going on in this cover. Jeff sings in this very unsettling manner that is so fitting where lattimore only cares about technicianship. .You can hear buckley's soul in this. Lattimore could never even wish to write such a brilliant song.
Sorry big fan of jeff but sonically this sounds so much better. people just hate to admit the cover might be just as good if not better than the original sometimes. jeff is a legend though
Sony considered Jeff to be the future of rock N roll..So much that he was the only artist they gave creative freedom to do whatever he wanted...They had no idea what direction where he would take it..Even Jimmy paige said the greatest voice he ever heard in 20 years..More talented than plant and paige combined. The columbia/Sony executives thought it would be Dylan, springsteen and buckley. You best research Jeff a bit more..I've had my hands on a few lattimore tracks in studio.-He is mediocre.at best.
I can't help one that is musically inept. -Your opinion is merely that.-From artists like Robert plant that said he was the ultimate Guru and chris cornell who said he felt this spiritual undercurrent that was almost spooky in his presence. That his voice was so amazing that he could not sing in his presence. He sat there in complete Awww..Sorry buddy.Jeff was that good and possibly one of the best live performers i've ever seen.. Bono called Jeff " a pure drop in a sea of noise."
Really, dude??? If you don't think Jeff's original version is soulful, then you don't know music. Kenny does a nice job. But, Jeff, is more soulful, more heartfelt and just a masterpiece that can never be equaled. Kenny is trying to woo a girl he just met. Jeff, already has his arm around her, and is looking deeply into her eyes, confessing his love for his wife.
BS!! Jon B can't touch Kenny's version, Jon B can't hold a candle to Kenny all he does is moan and strain to get the notes out, hell I can sing better than Jon B and that's real talk!! Jon B, I am laughing my ass off at that one!!
both renditions are fabulous.
thanks for writing such a timeless song Jeff Buckley.
I've never slept on KL's vocals. I think this is on of the best songs on his album(Timeless). Just love his smoothness!
If someone sung this to me with as much emotion as Kenny did and meant every word I would melt
this has to be the greatest love making song of all times!
he gives it soul
@chrisanthemum7 I agree! This song definitely has a Maxwell vibe! I wish Jeff Buckley was still alive to continue laying our jams like this!! This song makes me float!
It's damn hard to cover JB, but this is a great rendition. Congrats!
One hell of a song! Love it.
BEAUTIFUL SONG!
Kenny did his thang!!
This song fills me with so much that I find I am unable to it. I am a Jeff Buckley fan, and he wrote the hell outta this song!
great cover
i love this song...i can feel every word... Kenny the best...

Kenny is rippin this joint to smitherines, he made this joint his song. Dayumm bruh you are a bad boeyy!! Keep blessing us with your wonderful God given talent bruh!!!!
Nah it can't be his song if it follows the same formula as Jeff's version years later

I love this soooo much!
Jeff Buckley's version is the best hands down...however Kenny added some elements that are missing in the original that would have made a classic
See Kylie Auldist version!
love...

I would looove to hear Maxwell go DOWN on this song. my my my my....
love it
I Love it, love it
I'm not really big on covers, but this is nice.
may 2021 -- and still "everybody wants ya, baby....
they think that need ya, baby...
i just wanna show ya, baby..."
lovely
Jon B also did a great cover of this song....him and Kenny are tied with this classic

Happy Valentines Day, Chante
29 pearls in your kiss a singing smile
Coffee smell and lilac skin
Your flame in me

Originals are always better, as it happens with this song, the best version is Jeff Buckley's one.. buf this one is more than ok! ;)
And ooh I’m the one really needs you!!!
Dope. 💜🔥💜 29.11.19
@chrisanthemum7 yes he would tear it up!
💜💜💜

OMG!!!
true

Jon's vocals cant touch Kennys but all versions are good!!
Show
He butchered this song, diced it up, put it on the grill, and set it on fire. OH MY GOODNESS. What A SONG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
See Kylie Auldist version

DON'T play this at my reception!😚
I feel a poem about your ex wife coming on lil ken ken. I'm the one writing the book.
Nice but Jon B did it better. More passion and sensual feeling in Jon B's performance.
BS!! Jon B can't touch Kenny's version, Jon B can't hold a candle to Kenny all he does is moan and strain to get the notes out, hell I can sing better than Jon B and that's real talk!! Jon B, I am laughing my ass off at that one!!
got to give props to Jeff Buckley for writing it..
@@barbarian778 Neither version is as good as the original.
yea hes ok, but the original and Jon B.'s versions are better
little ken ken imma show yo ex wife everlasting love! and I may use your beautiful words :) thank you for your ignorance!
Calvin Richardson is the best RnB Singer not Kenny Lattimore
\
bullcrap
He puts the original to shame! 😂😂😂
He CRUSHED the original version, he made this song his in every possible way!!
Hell no!!
Tracy Fractious You must be high.
LOL! The original has the ORIGINAL and unique tune, this one is just like or similar to any other rnb song.
Have you heard the original? Jeff Buckley? No, Kenny's version is OK.
