This is my first Christmas as a widow. My sweet adult kids gathered around and there were many moments of laughter. It turns out joy and grief can sit at the same table.
Thanks Diane, I’m a former Calgarian now living in the hot tropics of Panama. I used to paint with many calgarian artist and in Canmore! Beautiful Canmore!
This is the first Christmas in 7 years that I got to spend Christmas with my son and his family. I was able to spend 2 weeks with them. My 6 year old granddaughter and I spent time reading and painting and playing with dolls. She received acrylic pens for Christmas. So she used those and I used watercolor. I am blessed!
Thank you so much❤We’ve spent Christmas Eve at my son’s house. It was awesome. To support the young family we, the to pairs of parents, brought everything with us what was needed. All the other days, including the 12 days of Christmas we were on our own, what we appreciated that much. I painted along all days long, we read etc.. kind of playtime😘
Hi Diane. Your videos are very soothing. I often watch them over and over. Sometimes I paint along, sometimes I just play them in the background. Thank you.
It was a quiet Christmas, just me and my adult son. No gifts this year, just spending time together. We watched a movie and laughed some. Still recovering from a surgery on my throat, so eating is a bit difficult, but it is healing and should be good for after the new year. I love the colors you used on this one, I will have to invest in the Meeden set, I have the Art Neveau set and I do enjoy it. Have a happy and safe New Year dear one.
Hello Diane, “you’re a delight “. I have been watching you for 5 months or so. I live in Hot California! And it was a pleasure to watch and listen to you all summer. Looking forward to more art from you in 2025. Never stop being your wonderful self. You make my day. I watch you because of your art and honesty. I’m a “ old gal” 81 years old but, you give me joy and courage to start my love of art again. “Happy New Year” I am excited for 2025.!!!
This was quite fun and relaxing. Another UA-cam channel that does a lot of mark making with the same art supplies (gold ink, white dots, Kuretake paints, stencils) is Denise Love from Austin, Tx. She makes 'getting loose' with art a lot of fun as well.
I painted a land/sea scape for my brother for his 80th birthday. He basically told me he wanted a painting by me - in my mother's voice! Scary. Anyway, it was passable and looked better when matted and framed. I really need to learn how to do rocks and cliffs better. Christmas was quite nice. First time in a long time here in my home. A son and family asked if they could have Christmas at our house, and could they decorate! I said sure, so I have a moderate sized real tree all decorated with ornaments that had been packed away for years. Then another son and his family said they would come too and bring food. I didn't do much of anything. God bless wonderful daughters-in-law. Got to have 5 of my 15 grandchildren here, the three youngest (10-14) and two of the oldest (25 & 27). But they will be back, at least the littles before returning to El Salvadore where that son lives and works. I have 7 children, the eldest is 61 and the youngest 46. She was a surprise, 61/2 years younger than No 6. I enjoy your musings and your paintings. I think if I had a website, I would probably be a little like you. I will see and try others' ideas and techniques but then think of how you might do it and incorporate some of your ideas. And now you are probably sorry about asking about our Christmases!
That's very pretty having the dark red and gold over the marbled pink background! On Christmas Day it was just my husband and me. We don't have kids, and aren't geographically close to any relatives. We went out to coffee, and generally had a nice day. Today we went to an annual post-Christmas lunch in downtown Los Angeles with some friends.
You will be glad to know that you can buy Kuratake paints individually in France. Recently My husband and I were visiting friends in France and spent a day in Marseille. There is a wonderful art store called Rougier & Pie. I actually bought a pan of Cadmium Orange. :) they had every color. In the states I have not found a store that sells them individually though I don't have an art store like that near me. Thank you for all your wonderful tutorials! I truly enjoy them all.
Beautiful Diane. I love the colouring used in this relaxing video. Our Christmas with grandsons was spread out over 3 days due to our 2 sons' work schedules. On the actual day, we were with my brother and all their family. It was busy but tiring. A couple of quiet days afterward were very welcoming. Now, it's time to get back to using my art supplies. Happy New Year. Best of health and much happiness to you, your husband, Tamsin, and your animals.
😥😥one of my besties passed early Christmas morning. I live 1700 miles away- haven’t seen her since October. I had painted your Angels - framed it and sent it to her -hoping the magic of angels would comfort her. 20:46 So it was a quiet reflective day. The new year is coming - can’t be any worse
So thats mark making among other things..very beautiful thank-you..And a very merry Christmas to you and yours and a very Happy 2025..and thank-you for being a inspiration to me ..i am coming up on my first year watercoloring..
Diane, who was a friend you lost around November, who helped you a lot during Covid? You knew him from the Internet. He was a minister if I remember well. Thank you! You mentioned him in one of your videos earlier.
Yes we had a quiet Christmas and my best gift was a few days with minimal pain… hoping my new regimen of supplements from my Doctor is working for me! You are good medicine in a different way, Diane… you pull my mind and eyes away from whatever the problem is! Happy New Year! 🎊
I love that. Just recently seeing paintings with that Saran wrap (US here) technique but haven't gotten around to trying it yet. Will do soon. Thanks so much for sharing this vid. Happy New Year, Diane. I pray it's a much better one for all!
Hi Diane, well I liked the technique and colours but wasn’t liking those circles top right or the birds. Yes flowers better than the Chelsea buns. I think after the background would be nice a tree fantasy and a shape of a person in the middle of the paper. Anyway at least you got me thinking. I love your tech. What you have is various areas but I think leaves and flowers would have been lovely. I always have something to say don’t I… sorry. I was on my own Christmas and my fridge was broken so I had to have a steak for dinner and I usually love my Christmas dinner. I was happy enough. I only had sprouts and steak. Not great! :/ Happy New Year in advance Diane :) Ooh I had mash as well. Your paintings always end up great so maybe I should zip it until the end 😆
There is an acrylic gouache now. So you have to be mindful when you are buying gouache. I believe the acrylic gouache can be lifted until it is dry. When it is dry, you are stuck with it . I actually have one tube of jaune brilliant in acrylic gouache.
Thank you Diane for that lovely painting. Beautiful warm relaxing colour mix of pink and gold. I look forward to trying that with some relaxing mark making. Happy New Year to you and Tamsin 😊
I see many people had a quiet Christmas 🎄 including me! I spent my Christmas 🎄 with my daughter and her husband. They invited me over for ham dinner. It was good 👍. My other daughter and I just got back from Kentucky moving the rest of my things down to Florida. Fun fun 😁. At least I got to see my grandson and my other daughter 💙. Nice painting I really enjoyed it. Thank you.
You are not alone, there are many of us, for a whole load of different reasons. For some, Christmas time brings great sorrow. It’s ok not to be like most other people, or what society dictates we should do.
We had a full house and lots of food and good cheer. I was worn out from all the month long activities involving our small growing church. Costumes for Kids Arts and crafts and decorations. Christmas night My Daughter and Daughter-in-law sat down at a he kitchen table and Doodled with all my new a litter Pens,Acrylic pens an metallic WC paints. It was most enjoyable whined down to a very crazy day with all 5 of my grand kids.
love the pink!💙 I had a pretty quite Christmas too! Didn't do much not as exciting as when the kids were little. They are all grown (6 of them) and we are scattered all over the states. Even the grands are big now and too busy for the 'OLD" folks. So sad:-(
After finally retiring from nursing and enjoying the first holiday without work commitments in 40+ years, I'm joining your pateron. I'm new to watercolor painting, 3 months and enjoy your approach and frank comments. Love the colors and the background definitely is a favorite! Many happy wishes for the upcoming new year.
Wonderful Maggie and a warm welcome to you after a lifetime of vital caring - now it’s time for you!!! Wishing you a wonderful new year and many happy hours of painting ❤️
I'm not good at not having structure, but I do try ! I have that same gold ink that you got for Christmas, I use with regular dip pens 🖊️ gold settles so you have to stir or shake often. It is very nice! We too had a quiet Christmas !
Oh good. I got that gold link for Christmas too!! Someone said they use a ruling pen. Another used the bent drawing implement generally used for car paint touch ups. On Amazon/ Jackson's. Or a brush. Love this painting. I'm a pink nerd!!
Great lesson. I loved my background so much I only put a golden bird and two sprigs. Amazon has just white Arrtx markers. I'm going to get some. They are the best. I have never had much luck with Posca Pens.
I was in a big mood to paint with pink and this video popped up. I had all the kuratake colors and some Daniel smith darker pinkish reds. I also used some sally. So it tried it. I am in love with this background. Thanks for this tutorial. I had so much fun. Now for the rest of the stuff to add I wanted to let you see it but don’t really know how to post it so it can be seen
Yes, they have recently introduced acrylic gouache. But it is important to remember that regular gouache is just watercolor with “body color” mixed in to make it more matte and chalky in appearance, and opaque. It doesn’t contain acrylic. It isn’t an acrylic paint. Acrylic gouache is acrylic with additives to make it more matte and chalky in appearance. It’s not watercolor and will dry rock hard on your brushes and in your palette if you let it go unwashed!
I would love to know where you found tge tray to hold your kuretake paint pans? Not the heart tray, the square white one holding all your paints. Thank you
This is my first Christmas as a widow. My sweet adult kids gathered around and there were many moments of laughter. It turns out joy and grief can sit at the same table.
So sorry for your loss, Eileen😥
This was my 2nd Christmas with my husband gone and it's very very hard. Still in depression
I'm so sorry for your loss! It sounds like you have a wonderful family and I'm glad they were there for you.
@trina7410 Prayers dear sister! ❤
@@trina7410 prayers for your peace❤️
Thanks Diane, I’m a former Calgarian now living in the hot tropics of Panama. I used to paint with many calgarian artist and in Canmore! Beautiful Canmore!
Wow, that’s a change of climate, Calgary to Panama!!! Yes, the region around Canmore was stunning xxx

Merci Diane pour cette vidéo très belle et relaxante. Prenez soin de vous pour cette fin d année. 🙀💜🌌
Wishing you a Happy New Year! Thank you for your generous and inspiring teaching this past year.
Love the pinks and all the embellishments and the ongoing process ❣️Our Christmas was very quiet. We all seem to be bogged down.

A very pretty painting Dinae. Pink is one of my favourite colours. I was watching this at 3:00am in the morning... the irony ;-)

Love it and great Color’s.❤😊
Merry Christmas, Diane. I'm always interested in the gifts Tamsin gives you. I splurged on the brass pencil sharpener from another Christmas.
Oh, that’s great to hear! I’m not sure how the ink is going to work yet - haven’t found the right pen for it yet. Keep watching!
