That "bright, happy" beginning was very deceptive, though the guys did a stellar job of selling it here (as well as the parts where Frollo's darkness comes fully unmasked, and how hypocritical and delusional he is with the background 'mea maxima culpa.') The moment Frollo goes into how righteous and virtuous he is compared to others, and how proud of those things he is, it's a red flag that there is something very wrong with his faith. To see one's self as righteous and others as not, and to boast about it, is explicitly condemned in the Bible--everyone is a sinner, and nobody gets to brag to God how great they are. (Also, begging Mary to destroy anybody is simply Not On.)
I think the Gregorian chant part was someone quetly singing Kyrie Eleison, (Lord have mercy) in the background. So full of passion, so moving. Amazing. Now you have to see Geoff singing Jack's Lament from The Nightmare Before Christmas. Stunning.
Thanks for your reaction! Geoff just released his solo one for Halloween and it is fire!! Also, Voice Play will be releasing a Halloween mini soon. Geoff and Voice Play are the masters of Halloween!!
My first thought was "what in the Hellfire?!". They just keep jumping levels and I think between this one and Geoff's solo they've hit god level. They just hit you right in the gut with their power and talent. I love the modern beat they used and you're right in saying Geoff was made to sing this. If they don't eventually get to do an entire soundtrack for a Disney movie I'll be so mad. All I have to say is buckle up for Geoff doing Jack's Lament.
I just can't get my head around the fact that they constantly get better and better 🤯🤯 Bloody Brilliant I read that the guy in the cloak was Tony a former member of Voice Play who just happened to be at Pattycake and they convinced him to do the part. 🤣 GREAT reaction as usual Lyle
I've had this on repeat since it dropped and now that Geoff has released Jack's Lament, they are both on repeat. Everything VoicePlay is recently releasing is brilliant.
Voiceplay has a ‘biggie’ mini coming out for Halloween also. Don’t know exactly when yet, but I hope you’ll react to it. I keep going back to it several times a day since it came out on Patreon and can never watch it only once. It’s SO funny, and will take multiple times through to watch the multiple screens (and still not see everything). Another great one for Halloween!
I think Minister Frollo gets the prize for the most evil villain. Cesar's air guitar is very nice. The guard is Tony Wakim. I am so glad you are one of my reactors - you seem to feel this one the way I do. It is stunning, haunting, wicked, mesmerizing and totally unforgettable. I've heard Geoff play villains before but none like this. I couldn't take my eyes off of him. I did actually because I did see the other four of VoicePlay and they answered that call for this one. So damned good.
I totally agree with everything you said. Today I actually went to a thesaurus to find more superlatives for these guys. 😂. I haven’t used dazzling or resplendent yet, so…
Absolutely enjoyed your reaction! Yes. Agree. A song so freaking evil in nature has no business being so darned good!! It was absolute bliss hearing this--every time I listen.
Great reaction! I think we all feel the same. It’s breathtaking in the best sense of the word. I’ve always hated the character of Frollo but found the song to be beautiful and powerful in a very disturbing way. I get chills every time I hear it. When Geoff starts singing he almost (but not quite) appears vulnerable and then you see his descent into madness. That choral portion when it segues into something suggesting church bells ringing emphasizes to me the fact that he was a high ranking member of the church (at least in the book). That left Geoff to be able to voice all the twisted evil of the character. He blames Esmeralda , he blames the devil, and he even blames God. And then that switch gets flipped.🔥🔥🔥
Great reaction Lyle!! This was just so damned good!! When I watched it the first time, I thought it was Geoff that said "Burn It", but no, that was Layne. And It was cool that Tony got to participate as the guard. Completely Blown away by how epic this cover was!! It has been a long long time since I have seen Hunchback of Notre Dame. And Did you see Cesar briefly playing the air guitar?? lol
"what more is there to say?" How about "Thank you, Voiceplay, for having mercy and leaving me enough of my breath and heart rate to live over this experience" ? 😉
This song underscores the need to have three Baritones, one high Tenor, and one superhuman utility male. Caesar has joins Geoff in being a human guitar, and Layne being a human drum kit. I find that Geoff's leads are usually arranged by Layne. it is like, 'yea the last one was good. Now let's see if you can top that!'
Geoff in the lead is always a sign of something amazing. Cesar's air guitar is BADASS! J.None is definitely still part of the group, and his harmonies with Cesar are beautiful. Layne's "Burn it" gives me chills every time. And Eli.... sheeeeesh! This is definitely the darkest Disney song ever, especially because it's REAL, not sea witches and crabs, but real human evilness. I know someone who lost her daughter to an obsessed man with a mindset of "She will be mine or die!" VoicePlay captured the darkness without going too far. Also, LOOOOOVE the outfits. I want Cesar's coat.
In the movie, but not in the original book. In the book he is high clergy. I thought Cardinal, too. But someone else thought ArchDeacon and now I’m not sure which.
@@hwyla4416 yeah in the book he is an archdeacon. but to not piss off the catholic church they changed any movie version to either Frollo being the good guy and someone else the bad guy, or Frollo being a judge and not an archdeacon.
Some of Disney's movies have dark themes....fratricide in lion King comes to mind. I know the dragon in the original Sleeping Beauty scared the heck out of me at 6
With so many covers of this song, I didn't know what to expect. Of course, VoicePlay came up with the best version out there, at least imo!! 🔥🤯. Now, please jump into Geoff's version of Jack's Lament, it's gorgeous! And soon, another short one by VP, for Halloween. These guys rule!!
I love Cesar in this. He brought out his inner air guitar and just nails it! He's so creative and impressive.
This is VoicePlay doing what they do best. Drama. Harmonies. High and low notes. ❤️❤️❤️ And a solo line from Layne‼️

Frollo from Hunchback of Notre Dame was a really creepy character.
Geoff did fantastic making me shiver when I saw the fire in his eyes. Frightening.
Thanks for your reaction! Geoff just released his solo one for Halloween and it is fire!! Also, Voice Play will be releasing a Halloween mini soon. Geoff and Voice Play are the masters of Halloween!!
Geoff's is on the way
@@staceysmith81732:34 2:34 ❤😂very good song! Exquisite harmony! I truly loved it!
I feel that way about Eli too such a dark creepy song done so brilliantly ❤🏴

Tony Wakim is Layne's partner at Pattycake Productions.
It was tony but Eli was the verbal

He has Geoffs coming out soon
Geoff kills his just released Jack's Lament hang on its superb!

I will be sooo pissed if they don't win a grammy for this or for Valhalla Calling. They absolutely deserve several Grammy's.

So true... and I have to watch everyone individually through every screen... takes its time but worth every second!!🎉😂❤

The song literally gave me the chills. I love VoicePlay and I don't typically get chills, but I did with this one.
"what more is there to say?"

I need Eli's!
Hey, Geoff is under consideration for a Grammy nomination for his arrangement on this one!! Just thought you might like to know!!!
Great reaction! I had never heard this, but I've been binge listening ever since they dropped it on Patreon.
Yes, brilliant. You need to see Geoff's Jack's Lament, you will really need to walk the block after that one.
It's on the way
Now you need to check out Geoff's newest, Jack's Lament. He had fire in his eye in this and gets red eyes at one point in Jack's Lament.
It's on the way.
Don't think I'll be able to get this out of my head!! So I'm not even going to try!!!😮 💝💞
lol, did I see a shiver hit you once or twice?
Me too bro, me too.
Just need to say, I wait for your reactions. You are my favorite.
Frollo was actually a judge. A Justice Minister.
In the movie, but not in the original book. In the book he is high clergy. I thought Cardinal, too. But someone else thought ArchDeacon and now I’m not sure which.

You weren’t ready for this epic masterpiece! 😂🔥❤️
The only Disney song that might be considered darker than Hellfire would be Worthless from the Brave Little Toaster.
Great reaction ❤
You hit it. When each time is so amazing what do you say?
❤❤❤
❤❤❤😊😊😊
Thanks 😊
I always HATED this song because Frollo is just So Evil, not thanks to VP its been repeating on a loop.
I can't try to touch voiceplay because you can't
