    Hey mate, trust me, it's fine!!
    Me any the wife used this tent for five years, and if we go away to the Lakes for just a few days, we still take this instead our our Icarus.
    That door won't leak, trust me.
    Stick the tab down on the bottom properly though (fold it in).
    We've been in some helluva thunderstorms in that thing and it's never leaked.
    When it pours, we sit in that vestibule (albeit slightly slouched), on two campchairs and with a table up and our food, shoes and my Karrimor Bergen in there too.
    It's a beautiful piece of well priced good kit for two people.
    Honestly though, we've been in sleet, snow, hail the lot with absolutely no issues.
    (If we did the wife would be the first to shout no more).
    When it's wet it kinda automatically sticks down anyways.
    Just keep the front guys taut though, stopsthe flapping noise in bad winds. I usually rest my Bergen up against the front anyways, it works a treat.
    Enjoy!! It's a cracking piece of gear

      Cheers for the feedback.
      This was the latest Earth collection thats made from recycled plastic, it has a lower hydrostatic head and might be different to the one you use. I did in the end opt for the galaxy 300 and I'm happy with the extra headroom you get.👍

    Nice tent, I just bought a 2024 Beta 350XL…fibreglass poles, not as good waterproofing, but cheaper. Can’t wait to use it, going to Cornwall with my dog and my car for a week of hiking. There’s loads of room for a chair and a table for a 2 burner cooker…..it’s my 4th Vango tent, great brand, and once you’ve pitched one, you can pitch any Vango tent, very simple, well designed.
    Tents are only good for about 12-14 weeks before UV gets at them, so I always bear that in mind in my budget.
    I’m sure when yours is worn out, u could keep the poles and buy a Beta 350, check the poles are the same length….the design looks improved on the 2024

    I’ve cheated the rain on that one side you was reviewing ‘ I’ve bought a vango tarp and alls absolutely superb as I got caught in heavy rain at side farm camp site Lake District. Must admit I like that vango galaxy 300 too 👍

    Thanks for the review. I went and bought one (on the back of your review and others) for motorbike touring here in Australia. Will test the zipper coverings as you did ... I also think my smaller bike can fit in the vestibule at night to keep it out of sight (after removing the floor). Cheers

      It will have to be a small bike,😆
      Apart from the zip issue it's a good tent.👍

    Weird that one side is better made than the other. But, I guess you can only use velcroed flaps themselves on one side when you ARE on the inside.

      @adyontour  5 місяців тому

      Hi, I upgraded to the Galaxy 300 and I'm very happy with it. From the video you heard my concerns about the zip flap coverage so I sent it back. Others did comment saying it wasn't a problem, and apart from that I really liked the tent. Ady.

    • @adyontour

    You say its a deal breaker but how often are you in the rain camping 1, and its going to leak into a storage area not sleeping quarters 2 , and third if you have the tent into the wind correctly the wind will be blowing the flap closed , as for seam tape , well thats not hard to do , i think the tent is fine but yes i would bring this up to the manufacturer to be addressed when making new tents , im shur they would love some feedback to make it better .....

    • @etherealbolweevil6268
      @etherealbolweevil6268 9 місяців тому +2

      Britain, rain + camping = at least 50/50. On the other hand, setting the velcro tabs perfectly from the inside of the door whilst closing it doesn't happen so a generous overlap and velcro patch size is essential. The real problem comes from condensation if the top of the tent is not sufficiently steep to let it run off.

    Tks for the review. How did you find it since? Is it big enough for an adult and 3 kids do you think?

    • @adyontour
      @adyontour  Рік тому

      Hi, to be honest I didn't keep it but since the review the general feedback is that the zip issue I highlighted wasn't a massive problem.
      But I would say not big enough for an adult and 3 kids you will find it a bit cramped unless one sleeps in the porch area, it wouldn't leave much room for gear/clothes and kids stuff, and because the ground sheet isn't sowed in there might be a few draughts in the wind.

    Was looking at the 250, but I think I would be on my knees a lot. Not good for older chaps like me 😢. So I seen your video and that’s a lot better higher for me. Did you send it back? And was it faulty?. Have you replaced it?. Thanks for your video. William.

    • @adyontour
      @adyontour  Рік тому +1

      Hi,
      yes I did send it back only because of the zip, I went for the Galaxy 300 and that has a massive porch area and I'm really pleased with it. See my other video.

    • @adyontour
      @adyontour  Рік тому +1

      Hi Glyn, no I don't think it was and I always take mine out anyway just so you can wipe down the underside of the groundsheet, it only takes minutes to fit. Ady.

  • @rufusduck71

    That zip won't leak .
    Unless you put a hose pipe on it for 20 mins .but in normal rain it will be fine and if it did let in a few drops then they would only run back down into the grass and not in your tent. It's a non issue .
    Enjoy your awesome tent .

    • @adyontour
      @adyontour  2 роки тому +2

      Well I did put a hose pipe to it and it took less than 2mins for the water to get through onto the porch ground sheet, so it was an issue and it went back.👍

    With regards to the waterproof rating, I also found conflicting sellers quoting different specs, which was very confusing!
    After much checking and trawling through the most reliable sources, I'm confident to say that: The shell/fly is Vango’s 'Protex' 70D polyester with a 5,000 mm H/H (hydrostatic head). So this is a really high waterproof rating. (This value corresponds to 7.11 PSI).
    The separate groundsheet and the inner tent floor are 70D, 6,000 mm H/H polyester, so again a good high rating. (Although an additional 'footprint' for the inner tent area would help with long-term 'wear & tear' issues and is good for marking out an area prior to pitching). Few tents are on the market with such numbers, at a similar price tag.
    Finally (and most importantly), please note that waterproofing does NOT just rely on the H/H of a material; so everything is factory taped, so the seams should not leak... (Although, worth carrying an emergency can of seam spray just in case - LOL!).

  • @CrazyLife908
    @CrazyLife908 2 роки тому

    Do u think foot print is necessary?? This tent doesn't come with the foot print...

    • @adyontour
      @adyontour  2 роки тому +1

      To be honest I don't think you need one. OK they do help protect the ground sheet under the bedroom, but if you are careful where you pitch up it should be fine. You do get a ground sheet for the porch area with the tent. Hope that helps.👍

      @adyontour  Рік тому +1

      To be honest Justin it was just a cheap one from Aldi. You can spend quite a bit on Helinox but these do the job. Also on Amazon there are loads I'm sure you could get something, I will say the base sheet is good under the legs as it protects the ground sheet and stops you sinking in soft ground. Hope this helps, Ady.
