  • HOT TUB Sn Error Code / HOT TUB Not Heating Properly?
There's many reasons why a hot tub doesn't heat properly or just not working at all. Testing your hot tub high limit sensor or your hot tub heater probe sensor might be the problem.

Hello, Getting a SN-1 code on my Sundance Maxxus 880 tub with the Sentry Heater on the side of the control panel. Have you ever changed one of those High Limit switches out or know how to try to reset that? Just seeing if I have to completely drain the tub to get that one switched out. Thank you for any help you can give me on this.

There would be 2 sensors.. sensor 1 (SN1) and sensor 2 (SN2). Find sensor 1 and change that. But. Doesn't mean it's the sensor. Make sure no other code comes up before that one and make sure the circ pump is running. If the tub has no shut offs to isolate the sensor area, then you will have to drain the tub.

Robert! I will start with an apology for not
responding to the previous comments we started on my tub issue. My PC took the
room temperature challenge and committed suicide. (now a new project to be
worked on) in the middle of your invaluable advice! OK re-cap 2012 Cal Spa 4
man tub. 110V power, with a balboa control box, error code Sn and suction fault
LED is lit. No heat condition. I
replaced the heater, after testing it with a meter OL (Open Lead) was my meter
reading. 5.5kw replacement water heating coil purchased
and installed. I had heat for 10 minutes and error Sn again. That’s OK, I took
your advice and also purchased a new Temp sensor! Replaced sensor A! Following
manufacturer starting procedure. Fired it up again! I had heat for 10 minutes
and the stinking error Sn again. That’s OK again, I took your advice and
replaced the B sensor with the first on I took out! Temp sensor B was bad.
Start up once again, it worked took 8 hours to heat the water to 100°F. OK
flashing errors gone. The suction fault LED still lit. But dose not seem to be
effecting anything. I can live with it on. You did it! I did go a step farther,
I had the wire on hand and the disconnect was already on the wall. I configured
my 4 man tub from 110V to 220V. Woah! The heater now works in low and high jet.
The heater now is a fully functional 5.5Kw heater not the 1.3Kw in 110V. What a
difference the 220V makes. Well it will increase my water temp 12.5° per hour!
Thank you for your advice. It helped me redirect my focus to the errors and
issues I was having with my Tub! Couldn’t have done it without you Robert!

Hi, i got cal spa 5000. It started showing OH when it reaches set temperatures (ie 98-100), and then just flashes oh and temp drops down to the 80s whenever I notice it and reset the breaker. So I got replacement balboa temp hi sensor, installed it and again it charged up to a 100 and went OH again, but now when I reset the breaker I have Sn flashing. The smaller of the two connected sensors goes into some metallic pocket on the back of the heater tube. I’m not sure if there’s some contact issue or what else could it be? Thanks

Thank you for sharing your knowledge and taking the time to reply to comments. I'm getting my strong spa up and running after winter and it is now blowing the circuit breaker. It took about 20 minutes before it first tripped the breaker. When resetting the breaker it took from immediately to 10 minutes or so to trip. I accessed the circuit board and it smells like a electrical component failure. The transformer looks like it has gotten hot and since I removed one of the copper heater jumper straps it no longer trips the breaker. Could the heater have taken out the transformer? What would be your thoughts and suggestion? Thanks again for sharing your experience.

Thank you for your informative videos, ive learned a ton but still cant get this spa to heat. We just bought a used 2005 hot springs sorrento ( great condition and worked before draining to move). It has the same pack as the one on the left inthis video it has the ribbon type sensor. Got it home, cleaned it, filled it and turned it on. All the jets seem to work fine as do all the functions on the lcd panel. I checked for air lock and no air just water came out. I turned the adjustment screw on the pressure switch and heard no relay ( .5 turn counterclockwise) though i can hear a relay when plugging in. I took the filter off and cleaned it (used a soft bristle toothbrush to clean each fin and rinsed with garden hose). Took a resistance measurement across the two black wires on the heater and got 16 ohms. Nothing seems to work. No matter what I still have those 3 blinking dots below the temp on the sceen (the blinking dots are there as soon as it is plugged in before the spa even turns on the jets). Im losing hair and sleep over this thing any help would be much appreciated. Thank you.

Did you try and jump the pressure switch? Disconnect the 2 wires, jump a wire across it and see if the 3 lights go away. If it goes away, change the pressure switch. Make sure the pump that pushes water thru the heater tube is flowing well.

    • @cbobcheck
      @cbobcheck 2 роки тому

Thanks for the quick reply, much appreciated. I jumped the pressure probe wires and got nothing. I was thinking it was probably a resistive on/off regulator so I measures resistance at off/hijets/lojets/nojets and got 47/1/1/47 ohms respectively (guessing that is correct). I also measured for continuity across the two metal tabs of the hi limit ribbon probe and got nothing. I then removed the ribbon probe and tested for continuity while hitting it with a hot air gun. No continuity there either (no idea if that is correct or pertinent but ive done the same to test temp switches before). As for the pump providing water to the heater, ill. Be damned if i can find it. I have a large pipe leaving (entering?) the heater to the large watkins pump impeller housing. The impeller housing also has a large pipe entering from the filter housing. I took adjacent panels off to see if the other pipe on the heater connected to a pump but it doesnt. Looking at the board it says that the metal connection tabs for pump #2 (no low or high settings) are p6 and p9: these are empty. I took one other measurement: the voltage across the heater at nojets/lojets/hijets and got 88/80/64 VAC respectively. Also noticed a capped hose running off the pipe frim the filter housing to rhe pump. Thanks again for taking the time to help with this.

Ok I have bilboa with code OHH. The flow is good. No difference with or without filter in flow. It heats up till about 35 36 degrees celsius. Then pannel shows OHH. Can it be the sensor? Can I measure the resistance of sensor?

    • @VIPPoolsandSpas
      @VIPPoolsandSpas  Рік тому +1

It's probable the high limit sensor. You can test continuity and set for it to beep. if its bad, it will beep. OR. Set down to 95F and when it gets to 95F. test the volts on the element. The pump should be off and you will also get 0 volts on element. Then, set temp to 97F if it goes 3 degrees more, test the element. If you get volts, its the sensor.

    Hello!
I had my Hydropool Serenity spa turnd off during the winter and about a week ago I cleaned the tub, installed a new filter and filled it up with fresh water, everything was woking fine for a about 6-7 as I could see that my power consumption was above 3 Kwh (I have a 3kw heater, M7) during the time it was working, but the day after i got an SN code so I tested the volts on the heater connections on my Balboa pack (while turned On), and Im getting zero volts.
Ohms reading is around 19 but Amps are harder to measure on the copper leads so havn't tested that yet. However if there is no volts, I suppose the board or relay is bad, right?
It's just weird that the heater was working fine for a few hours and then died!

Hi there. I have a dream maker x-150 and just purchased a new Mach 7 board. Worked for a day, but now I have a SB code. The sensor is a 4 prong sensor in the board. 2 sensors then plug into a PVC elbow on the line side of the pump. When I take the sensor off, I get SN error. I can’t get the pump to turn on or do anything. It’s just stuck on SB
    Any ideas ?

Disconnect sensor B from the circuit board

When you first turn on the breaker to power the hot tub up, it will go thru it's programming. Not sure what those numbers are but the PR is for PURGE. Could there be a error code right before the SN code? HR ? SN is a sensor issue but doesn't mean it's the sensor. Normally it will tell you if it's sensor A or B. Make sure nothing is blocking the filter from where the filters sit all the way to the pump. Flow issue or a sensor issue.

Not Sure. Weird that you would get the DR and then a trip and then no trip if the element is disconnected. DR is a sensor or flow issue and the trip sounds like the element. Always easier when Im right there testing it.
