You know people can knock the style back then but it was the in thing and just because it's not in style anymore doesn't mean that the music wasn't bad plus it seemed that these were some of the happiest both Dime and Vinnie were. They just look like they were having a blast. You can definitively hear how much Kiss/Van Halen influenced Dime on the earlier stuff like this.

Exorder was the first hard core grove metal from New Orleans.. Anselmo always said that.. And thanks to Exorder they became Pantera... Respect for Exorder that not long ago back with a new great album...

I hear Mostly his Eddie influence, I love both Eddie & Dime. Eddie was THE badass back in the late 70s early 80s, especially late 70s, First 4 albums are my absolute favorite.
I always been under the impression that pantra used to be a glam band in the 80s. It reminds me more of van halen, with vinne and dime on the guitar, drum combo. Also the solo to the first song is very van halen.

They were influenced by the British metal bands Judas Priest,Def Leppard,MSG,all metal bands were dressing like this back then of the early 80's with a little Van Halen influencing Dime's shredding style of leads but you can also hear a hint of that power groove sound already starting

'I Am The Night' is an underrated gem in the Pantera lineup, in my mind! Dime became friends with Lars and James, and jammed with them. Their influence signaled a heavier sound. Dime was always very open about his love for James Hetfield's rhythm playing. Huge fans of both, myself!
