Best "unplanned" purchase this year by far. Fucking blows me away. It scratched that Yoko Taro itch in a way while I actually wait for his next game. But 13 sentinels is totally it's own unique beautiful beast. I was blown away. Games like this need to exist. I hope anyone on the fence takes a chance and has an open mind. Cause it will melt your brain with what it brings. Support this game.
Tomi was honestly consistently my favorite everytime she came around. Her snarky attitude and inability to back down was always nice to enjoy. Her actually getting the upper hand on Okino, who consistently seems to be in control of a conversation, was a joy.
The overall game, is the definition of a “hidden gem.” The story is well done, the characters also well done, though some will disagree on that. The visuals in VW fashion is beautiful, and the soundtrack is *chefs kiss* deserving of GOTY. That all being said, this is just an opinion...but..... It would’ve been nice to have this game for the PSVITA and to an extent the Nintendo switch as well. I think this type of overall game genre that being a part interactive VN with the Lite Strategy rpg element really would cater very well to handheld devices.

I literally heard about this game yesterday because it popped up on my Amazon cyber Monday deals. But by the time I went to checkout it was gone. Probably all the scalpers got to it. After reading through some reviews I knew I had to try it out. There was 1 last one at a GameStop in a pretty dangerous neighborhood, but I think it was worth the risk. I'll be starting it out tonight.

I remember watching this video and saying “Wow that’s a cool game” and just ignored it. And I bought it around the time Strikers came out and I didn’t play it until May. And I dropped it again. Now I finished the game and I wished I did that sooner. The game is a masterpiece and thanks for introducing it to me :)
I pre ordered the game when I first read about it and it blew me away. I absolutely recommend this game if you guys want a great story and lovable characters, the story kept me really intrigued and the gameplay made me so addicted that I have put in 248 hours in because I keep replaying it.
So I unironically ordered this game since I saw a tweet saying it was half off on Gamestop and that's only because I remember this videos thumbnail cuz this is also the first time I saw this video and I do not regret ordering it with that glowing review, definitely looking forward to playing it myself when it finally arrives

Just finished this game. What an absolute masterpiece. The great problem with it is that the premise of the gameplay (visual novel + rts gameplay) just didn't seem to be a selling point. From a first glance out of all the games on the ps store, this game looked like something to kill time with...But those who buy it will realize it's a magnum opus. Whoever did marketing for the game didn't do it well because this game is criminally underrated. I appreciate that you put the seaside vacation song in the video, cause 2-10 was such an awesome map. This game is indeed an s-rank purchase

i'm glad i saw this video. i wasn't going to get it because i heard it's just a visual novel with tower defense gameplay which doesn't sound that great to me. i love games with flow chart paths (zero escape, a.i.). and now that i know it can be played remotely on the vita (no l2/r2 buttons nessesary) i'm 100% getting this game. thanks again for this video.
Been playing this game for about 35 hrs and am just a little over half way through. Im throughly enjoying it and the more I learn about the story the more I'm hooked
Only just round to watching this, put it in watch later until I could order/finish the game. I picked it up after watching a few episodes of a lets player (Nicob, highly recommended) go through this. Never heard of it but even P5 I ended up deciding not to get it immediately. This is one of the only games I've actively stopped everything to avoid spoilers once I caught wind of it to blitz through. 36 hours later and god damn was this a good game, even just the amazing touches to the analysis section where it added the sectors alongside the year once that got explained and added to the secondary characters and that extra cut scene being added as a ending reward. (If you haven't scene a little bonus cut scene that's specifically in the events section, go there after beating the game it's at the very end and kinda brings up a little thing that was sorta mentioned)

I finished the game today, and.... ok, so if sci-fi as a genre was a series, this would be the final episode. it had EVERYTHING and it somehow worked flawlessly. Also, I might be wrong but is your outro's opening from ACCA13? it sounds extremely similar if it's not, and if it is, you have good taste in both games and anime! Honestly a 10/10 for me. Although I see it as more Visual novel than "game".

Feel like the enjoyment of the twists and turns and subversions of the story depend on how much Scifi knowledge you have, since some tropes may just go over your head. Can't say I got all of them remotly, but the ones I got where pretty good.
This game is too good! Damn Vanillaware just flexed that they can make a great story! I mean I been a while since Odin Sphere. One complained tho... You can't rotate camera in battle mode... Still 10/10

It's on sale on PS4. Decided to buy it and it blew me away. Best game I've played in a long time and I'm not really into side scroll visual novel type games.
Playing this on switch. Really enjoying, but I'm so bad at remembering names. That problem is doubled when they have foreign names I am not used to. When they reference someone else I have no clue who they are talking about
I got this just recently for my birthday and I have been playing this with my mom who usually can't get into gaming for reason but I thought since this mostly a visual novel that she would enjoy it a little more since there is not a lot of gameplay and both of us are enjoying it we're still in the prologue and it very interesting a little confusing right now but I am enjoying the mystery of what on earth is going on.
[ENDING SPOILERS] . . . . . I really love the relationship pairings in this game. I’m a sucker for romcom/slice-of-life anime’s because it’s a nice getaway from the intensity of the action/adventure anime’s, and it explores character personalities more thoroughly just with their interactions with other characters. While I’m not really a huge fan of Iori with Ei, it was sweet seeing Juro Izumi and Chihiro Morimura finally reuniting and having their own “reset” at the end, and seeing their adult bodies turn back to their teenage counterparts (which makes me favor Juro with Iori more). It’s weird how some of the art of the game makes you think “oh these two are definitely something special” because the two are usually paired next to each other, but then you notice in Vanillaware’s other promotional arts that their teenage counterparts are paired with who they end up towards the end, which is really neat. My favorite pairings are definitely Natsumi and Keitaro, Shu and Yuki, Hiyajima and Okino, and Tomi and Nenji- but Natsumi and Keitaro meant so much more because of BJ’s inclusion. Really loved how this game put so many genres together, and it took me by surprised while playing to see that romance also played a huge part to give characters more significance towards one another.
This game caught my eye a while ago but never actually looked into until yesterday after it went off sale on the ps store ($41.99). After I heard that it had an interesting and watched this video, I decided to buy it through gamestop and managed to get it for $33.
My brother in law told me to play this and I went in VERY skeptical. Anime games tend to be pretty meh for me. I was wrong, this game is AMAZING. The story, the art, the music, all of it is amazing and I'm very sad it's not better known. Edit: Also, I spent most of the game thinking 'What the hell is going on?!' and loved every second of it.
Ok so the gameplay looks... not that good to me. I tried games like Three Houses and the gameplay dragged it down for me. Will it be an issue if I play the game oooooor...
I felt the same way before playing the game but it's actually VERY fun. Plus you can always put it on casual if you want to get the combat over with as fast as possible

Megumi was my personal favorite in this game. And the cat was one of my favorite elements, especially with how things developed later in the story.

Feel like the enjoyment of the twists and turns and subversions of the story depend on how much Scifi knowledge you have, since some tropes may just go over your head. Can't say I got all of them remotly, but the ones I got where pretty good.

This game is too good! Damn Vanillaware just flexed that they can make a great story! I mean I been a while since Odin Sphere. One complained tho... You can't rotate camera in battle mode... Still 10/10

Playing this on switch. Really enjoying, but I'm so bad at remembering names. That problem is doubled when they have foreign names I am not used to. When they reference someone else I have no clue who they are talking about
I got this just recently for my birthday and I have been playing this with my mom who usually can't get into gaming for reason but I thought since this mostly a visual novel that she would enjoy it a little more since there is not a lot of gameplay and both of us are enjoying it we're still in the prologue and it very interesting a little confusing right now but I am enjoying the mystery of what on earth is going on.

I really love the relationship pairings in this game. I’m a sucker for romcom/slice-of-life anime’s because it’s a nice getaway from the intensity of the action/adventure anime’s, and it explores character personalities more thoroughly just with their interactions with other characters.
While I’m not really a huge fan of Iori with Ei, it was sweet seeing Juro Izumi and Chihiro Morimura finally reuniting and having their own “reset” at the end, and seeing their adult bodies turn back to their teenage counterparts (which makes me favor Juro with Iori more). It’s weird how some of the art of the game makes you think “oh these two are definitely something special” because the two are usually paired next to each other, but then you notice in Vanillaware’s other promotional arts that their teenage counterparts are paired with who they end up towards the end, which is really neat.
My favorite pairings are definitely Natsumi and Keitaro, Shu and Yuki, Hiyajima and Okino, and Tomi and Nenji- but Natsumi and Keitaro meant so much more because of BJ’s inclusion.
Really loved how this game put so many genres together, and it took me by surprised while playing to see that romance also played a huge part to give characters more significance towards one another.

This game caught my eye a while ago but never actually looked into until yesterday after it went off sale on the ps store ($41.99). After I heard that it had an interesting and watched this video, I decided to buy it through gamestop and managed to get it for $33.

This game and P5R are probably the two most immersive games I've played as a proper 'adult'. I still can't leave their worlds months after.
I rented it from Gamefly.
I'm planning to buy it from them after my next paycheck.
This game is honestly kinda perfect.
My brother in law told me to play this and I went in VERY skeptical. Anime games tend to be pretty meh for me. I was wrong, this game is AMAZING. The story, the art, the music, all of it is amazing and I'm very sad it's not better known.
Edit: Also, I spent most of the game thinking 'What the hell is going on?!' and loved every second of it.

Trust me, watching the gameplay and playing the game are two very different things. It also plays nothing like Fire Emblem, if that helps.
I felt the same way before playing the game but it's actually VERY fun. Plus you can always put it on casual if you want to get the combat over with as fast as possible
New sub here. Love your breakdown of this beautiful game. I'm also a giant fan of P5R and I gotta say, Atlus games know how to tell a story (and that's coming from a published author). Keep up the good work. Do you have a spoiler loaded version? There's still a few things I'm unclear on after one playthrough.
