I think the freckles are a way to “remember” a unique feature about her without remembering exactly. Since she is a muse, it fits.
I think Henry being boring is great. That is the point of his character; he is kind of a loser. He sells his soul to be happy. He has great qualities that Addy is able to draw out of him. He becomes a much better person because of her.
The ending is spectacular and I enjoyed how she uses her wit of 300 years to find loopholes in her curse.
I would have enjoyed a scene that shows how mad she went like climbing the Eiffel Tower naked or something to see if it would end up in the papers.
Overall, the book was so enjoyable and I couldn’t put it down.

    1) Yes, there is power in a name. Name is not just identification, but significance and foreshadowing of destiny as well~ That's why some people change their given name when they do not like.. 2) Freckle give her even more stronger physical identity of who she is and how beautiful she is. In addition, the number 7 represents perfection. Thank you for your book review. I enjoyed it~

I loved this book, too. I'm not typically into romance, but I enjoyed it in this book. Based on her other books I find that romance is not Schwab's strong suit (in my opinion), in her other books she's written attraction very well but once the characters get together it feels just off. In this book I really enjoyed the relationship tho'.
[spoilers] For me the most thought-provoking part was the contrast between the two curses. Would you rather not be able to make any human connections or would rather they'd all be fake? Both seem incredibly crushing to me and I wouldn't want to be in either of their shoes.
In greek mythology heroes are often memorialized in constellations, so it's fitting that the art that memorialized Addie features her 7 freckles that look like a constellation. But I think it's also a connection to Luc, since he's the darkness.

I agree with that sentiment on Schwab's romance writing. I think attraction is easy for her as well and romance always falls a little flat (perhaps she is like me and doesn't like romance either so it doesn't come as naturally for her). I think the romance that was added in Addie LaRue was just enough without it being overdone, which I enjoyed.
      [discussion]
I agree about the contrast between the curses as well! I hadn't thought of putting words to it, but you are so right the curses are almost opposites. If I had to choose I would pick Addie's curse, fake love is worse and at least Addie can get fleeting moments of realness.
The freckles thing I think definitely has to the her into a greek mythology idea (Ursa Major is a constellation of seven stars)I hadn't made the connection that gods/goddess were often memorialized in stars, but that makes a lot of sense in reference to Addie and her art memorialization's.
I also looked into the idea of seven stars meaning something in regard to Christianity (for curiosities sake) and the idea of the seven stars in Christ's hand came up, as well as from the book of revelation seven stars equaled seven angels (so perhaps it really could represent Addie as an angel like character juxtaposed to Luc).

The Casca series of books by Barry Sadler is kind of like what you're describing as far as a immortal viewing events through history, in this case it was a Roman soldier who killed Jesus, now cursed with immortality, forever a mercenary

What do you think the lesson of the book is that can be applied to us living daily lives within a mortal lifetime? What did Addie due to keep her sanity and to try regulate emotions and overall happiness during her mundane and unfulfilled life?

    I gave the book a 4/5
It was nice and definitely out of my comfort zone thats why i wanted to read it in the first place. I don’t prefer fantasy nor romance books which i was happy it wasnt really.
I agree about the lack of history I would have loved to know more about her past and less about NewYork.
I really didn’t sympathize with her relationship with Henry, I don’t consider it as love. She was in love with the idea that finally someone can remember her and acknowledge her existence.
However I did end up liking the Luc 🫣 I felt like he choose her because he loved her not because she asked for freedom. I also loved the fact that she was recognized in art because she somehow effected people’s ideas and she was their inspiration.

Ooo I’ll have to add this to my list. Just this year I’ve really gotten back into reading and over the last couple months I’ve been reading a book a week or so. I’ve read A Darker Shade of Shadows by V.E. Schwab and enjoyed it so I’m definitely interested in this one

If you liked the Darker Shade series I think you will definitely like this one! A book a week is great! I honestly forgot how much I loved reading it feels like the necessary escape from the real world I craved.

I’m going to watch this now because at Chapter 67 (part 4 chapter 12 or something) I just can’t take it anymore. I really dislike this story. But I’m so far in that I just want to know if the ending will pan out as I predict

I just finished this book and WOWWW.
I need to share my thoughts, so here goes the rant :-) SPOILER ALERT
~ First of all I did not like Henry, compared to all the other characters he was very boring imo. I did not connect to him at all, which really frustrated me. I wish Miss Schwab would’ve made him a bit more interesting.
~I wish for a second book purely to see how the Luc x Addie relationship would evolve. Luc is not human, so can he really love someone? No, I don’t think so, I think he will always see Addie as his possession, albeit one he covets. But then again he does feel emotions as humans do, maybe not as potent, but it is present. So maybe he can love Addie, I just personally feel like he doesn’t, not really. As for Addie at the end of the book she does not love him anymore, but I believe she will fall for him again. I also really wanna know Luc’s reaction to being outsmarted. They have such a push and pull relationship, and I just need so much more of them😩
~As for the freckles/stars I totally agree with you, I did not see it as repetitive, but rather a reminder that this is somehow of importance. Maybe she really is the light to Luc’s darkness🥺 but then again I’m a hopeless romantic, so I’m definitely biased.

I totally agree about Henry being boring.
Yet I somehow liked Addie starting a relationship with Luc. I ended up liking Loc after all. A second book would be awesome though.
