This is incredible, probably the greatest thing created as a result of Corona. I should be transcribing instead of bingeing on youtube all day. How long does it take to transcribe something of this magnitude?
Hi! Thank you for your kind comment. I’m not sure how long it took me, but definitely longer than what I would like to admit!
@@JuanOrtizPiano where and how can i get this transcription?

Juan …thank you SO MUCH! Amazing labor of love!! I went to your site and paid for the transcription …twice…and I was unable to complete, eye the transaction for some reason. Any idea why?
Success Juan! My order went through! Now, it’s time to catch up on my intention and inspiration of 50 yrs ago!! 🥰🙏🎶💛🎶🎹
What a great effort Juan, very selfless and generous of you to share your hard work in transcribing this piece of history. This performance of a be-bop 12 bar is iconic for OPs faultless licks, making it seem like a walk in the park. The past 10 years has seen an explosion of dedicated transcribers like yourself helping everyone access these jems of mastery in improvising..
Thank you for your kind comment!
🥸🎹
GREAT TRANSCRIPTION SIR!! I DIDN'T THINK ANYONE COULD HAVE THE PATIENCE TO PULL THIS OFF!! I SALUTE YOU!!
Thank you!
Had lots of free time thanks to Covid lol
8:44 smooth brain moment
Great transcription!
This. In. Insane!!! OP’s vocabulary is non-repetitive and full of quotes, humor and emotion all over the place. Plus with RB - mind blow 🤯
Along with all the other comments....Thank you for your time and effort. This is one of my "gold" standards for a perfect improvised jazz solo on any instrument. Starting simply and building all the way to the climax. The 2 hand-big band chord section floors me every time I hear it, and the best/most important part is how he perfectly played FOR the groove instead of just for the technique. (Although any of the technique from OP is always impossible for anyone else to play).
Thank you for your kind words.
All praises go to Oscar though!
🥸🙏🎹
Things I love about Oscar Peterson besides his musicianship. That face of pure joy! How he is able to take a kerchief with his left hand and wipe his perspiring brow, whilst continuing to improvise with his right hand. And of course how he hums along with what he's playing. Almost as if he's willing the notes into existence. 🥰
Amazing
Amazing transcription, Juan. Thanks very much!
🥸🎹
I have listened to this recording so many times it is ridiculous. Thanks for transcribing it. Amazing job. We are really lucky that the Danish television decided to broadcast this concert. As far as I know they actually did this for a lot of jazz artists, but I don't know if the recordings are available online.
Thank you Jesper!
Excelente transcripción. Felicitaciones
Gracias!

Thank you the transcription. I just purchased one!
Thank you for the support!

Truly amazing; both the original performance and the transcription! I've been watching this video (and own the DVD) since it first appeared on UA-cam. Thanks.
One of my favorites too 😊
Thank you ; beautiful...
Thank you!
Nice transcription my man! Huge props on getting the inner voices of those Shearing chords, that was no joke.
Thank you! It took me a while to transcribe 😅
great transcription, congratulatuons
Thank you!
unbelievable
Outstanding Job!
thank you for this
Thank you for watching!
Magic.
Hats off to you for doing this 👍
Juan, you are one clever person.
Thank you! I’ll take the compliment.
🥸🎹
Thanks for this!
I started lifting this yesterday. So far I have most of one chorus of the intro, RH only. It may be a “lifetime work” for me but so worthwhile. It’s nice to have something to check against if I’m stuck and to verify. It’s hard to hear multiple notes at the same time, especially what are the exact voicings of chords.
Happy to hear this video helps with your practice sessions! Keep it up!
AMAZING
Os inesquecíveis Blues !

Thank you!!!
You’re welcome!!
3:56 is my favorite part
Wow :O Thanks!
Thank you for watching!
At 4:30, the drummer thinks Oscar is going do another solo break, but Oscar doesn't so he keeps the rhythm going ! you can see the 50 milliseconds where he realizes it
wow!
7:30 When Oscar goes into the block voiced chord lines typical of big band arrangements, that's when his true godhood comes out.
That part is pretty insane 🎹🎹
Well done bro!! I subscribed :)
Elia
Elia Gaitau Thank you man!
I appreciate :)
He's putting the bass player out of work for the first 2 minutes and 40 seconds!
Love the nod to Charlie Parker at 4:58

Gracias por ver el video! De momento no tengo pensado repetir pianista, pero tendré en cuenta tu request.

Much harder than it looks
Makes similar noises to Keith Jarret lol
Different posture though XD
😄
Stupid to go back and play the head again.
In Jazz the head is always played at the end.
@@JuanOrtizPiano They played it 3 times. Or I should say pianist played it 3 times It is a profoundly stupid melody. Thanks for the transcription, more fun to see it as you hear it.
@@georgeallan6550 They played it twice at the beginning and twice at the end, which is what we do in Jazz when we play a blues head.
@@JuanOrtizPiano Petersons introduction hints at the head so I count that as another rendering of the head. That's why it was stupid. It was anticlimatical to play the head after the long intro. Bad arrangeing.
@@georgeallan6550 I can just wonder why you keep calling this version "stupid".
It's arguably one of the best jazz piano performances of all time.
But if you don't like it, you can just move on with your life and listen to something else, while the rest of us enjoy it.
Nobody is forcing you to keep coming back.
In the Beethoven and Chopin/ Liszt days they would have arrested anyone for this crap. Today it's considered genius to doodle around on one note and pretending it's music.
Thank god you are not the one taking that decision 😂
