hey Doctor Yak, can you do a compilation of Steve's anecdotes next? Like the early stories of driving his car; buying dodgy speakers; girl on a train; trying to impress girls in different ways, etc?
He clarifies this at around 22:50 . He states that it doesn't have to be Tom Cruise in Mission: Impossible but "what's his name" (Matt Damon) in Bourne Identity.
The Bob Marley joke in Scrooge, when he’s laughing, and you can just hear Ricky having a giggle fit on the back. I wish they ran this feature longer, so good.
"My times' precious, what do you need?" 🤣 I wish that meeting was filmed so we could see the confused look on their faces when karl is coming out with the stuff haha
webbess1 pretty sure you wouldn't need that much to get rebecca de mornay; not sure about clive warren seeing as he has made millions fixing dodgy boilers
I'd unironically be entertained by Karl's movies. Films don't have to be based on realistic premises. Most shit that comes out is just rehashes, at least this stuff is original.
The thing about Karl's first film idea is that it's actually a conceptually really good idea. Proof is that it's actually been done quite a few times; not in the exact same way obviously, that'd be mental, but think of Being John Malkovich for example. And a recent film I saw was Possessor by Brandon Cronenberg, which had quite a lot of the basic elements of Karl's idea: a man inserted into a woman's mind, a gradual battle between them for overall control...the real difference is that Cronenberg realised the potential for making something terrifying and disturbing whereas Karl seemed to picture it as a weird mishmash of slapstick, romcom and drama.
'All of Me' with Steve Martin is a similar film to what Karl describes, except that was like a spirit possession that only half worked, that was a pretty good comedy.
I might be late to the party, but I've only recently watched Black Mirror on Netflix, and in the episode "Black Museum", which is very good by the way, and not to denigrate it at all, but it contains two of Karl's ideas portrayed as dystopian plots, the Doctor who gets inside your body to diagnose you, and the love of two brains premise.
Its funny because Mission Impossible 7 and Mission Impossible 8 areactually being made. To answer Karl's question 24:13 Mission Impossible 7 will be be made around 2020 and released on July 3rd 2021 and Mission Impossible 8 in August 2022, thought its release could be delayed.
I never got the criticism behind the two brains movie. A movie doesn’t have to be realistic, it can be an out there/unrealistic concept and still be entertaining.
I don't get why they're confused about why Ted Dansen is playing an unknown in this film, when actors do that LITERALLY ALL THE TIME! That's how acting works! Is Ricky Gervais confused when people don't recognise Hugh Grant or Colin Firth or whoever? Hell, Ricky himself is an actor! How does he not understand the basic concept?
I think the reason is that Tom Cruise is playing Tom Cruise. You're meant to recognise Tom as the person he is, not the character he portrays, whereas Ted Dansen isn't meant to be recognised as Ted Dansen, he's purely playing a character
Gareth Thomas Sometimes during the XFM radio show they would do a segment called "Karl in a film" and after KP2 it's basically a compilation of those segments.
I just love Ricky's laugh in the background when Karl is in a film, it is absolutely brilliant.
Can you cite where they are in the video, I love it too.
Karl hasnt been in a film?

Garlic Bread is the best one. Or "Squoze', "How do you spell that".
When they're making fun of the Tom cruise thing I started crying. "Do you like Tom cruises face but not his acting" 😂
Opposite. Vanilla Sky wasn’t bad
@@harambeyonce9427 hes been in many great films and worked with many of the greatest actors and directors ever. So yeah, the opposite
I love how Clive Warren is a British radio presenter but Karl talking about Clive Warren is the first results in google
The KP fan army strikes!

I think the ones where he's denied entry to a night club and when he goes to Brazil are the best ones.
I love how he says "it doesn't need to be Tom Cruise" then the entire thing revolves around Mission: Impossible.
Aaaaaand then he points out that it doesn't need to be Mission: Impossible...
He clarifies this at around 22:50 . He states that it doesn't have to be Tom Cruise in Mission: Impossible but "what's his name" (Matt Damon) in Bourne Identity.

If I were a billionaire, I'd produce these films just to see them.
webbess1 his first plot was in the last season of Black mirror, iirc
The Brians Brain film is actually very similar to the movie "All Of Me" with Steve Martin
webbess1 pretty sure you wouldn't need that much to get rebecca de mornay; not sure about clive warren seeing as he has made millions fixing dodgy boilers
They did make this movie, or short film. Susanne produced it. It's on youtube.
Makes no sense if you produce them you would already have seen them so wouldn’t need to watch them, think karl
nice one I love these I can't sleep without them best way to relax at night
Pleasure, thanks!
They are good for when you can’t sleep
Ditto!
This is where Charlie Brooker comes for ideas
Ted Danson
As Bryan
As Tom Cruise
As Ethan Hunt
In Mission Impossible 8
That Clive Warren bit might be the funniest of the whole radio show

Clive Warren is the funniest thing ever
I wish these films could be made with Karl in full control (writing, directing, producing). It would be fascinating to watch.
I love when they interrupt Karl to order a coffee and a tea from Sheryl! Haha
Guess what,
That Clive Warren story about the half a brain in the head was on Black Mirror
Jokes on Ricky and Steve
There was also the machine that could let you feel others pain that Karl thought up on an episode
I heard they are also planning on putting a giant mirror on the moon
@@paulp4452 unfortunately it cracked so they had to paper over it
Alfred Hitchcock, Stanley Kubrick,Steven Spielberg, John carpenter, Karl pilkington these are the greats.

Came here to say that. But you covered it 👍
The Love of Two Brains. Fucking brilliant
But why is that such a weird thing when that's what they do now?
"What is?"
That's what they do.
"What!?"
They do that.
I haven't seen a lot of Clive Warren movies. I bet he'd do it for the experience and exposure.
I love Karl he has the best mind to pick at. his responses are brilliant. I wish life was that simple for me
I have a sneaking suspicion Suzanne likes tom cruise lol
Smart.
Keep goin with the uploads bro!
That laugh at 41:47 always gets me
Great compilation. Thanks 👍
They've already made one of them:
Just watching 'Transcendence' -I'm nearly halfway through!
The meeting with Karl and the film people included Brooker

I never got the criticism behind the two brains movie. A movie doesn’t have to be realistic, it can be an out there/unrealistic concept and still be entertaining.
1:00:45 kills me
Craziest thing is that they laughed and black mirror made a movie with karls concept
Do you like Tom Cruise's face, but not his acting?
The tom cruise movie idea may be the funniest thing I've ever heard.
If karl replaced tom cruise with nick cage it would 100% become a film
The Clive Warren film idea is kind of like that Steve Martin movie, All of Me, but that was like a magical realism kind of thing, not brains.
I don't get why they're confused about why Ted Dansen is playing an unknown in this film, when actors do that LITERALLY ALL THE TIME!

what's the feature called where he's speaking in films?
The Film Quiz Thing
He never really gave it a proper title though.
Doctor Yak > Bald Mank
Shredded wheat
The first idea was literally an episode from black mirror xD
Karl Pilkington ghostwrote the Jack and Carrie segment of Black Museum
Karl’s “two loving brains” movie idea... was that the film Being John Malkovich
"You'll get used to it..."
"I don't wanna get used to it..."
This is re-recorded. It’s like they read it off a script form the original series.
YES YES YES
Thanks:)

I don't get why they're so incredulous. I mean, Face Off is a thing
Yeah but that movie was a log of doodoo

Karl's film ideas sound entertaining, Ricky's films are crap.
