    Ugh! I'm an extremely masculine gay guy who is NOT insecure in his sexuality, nor am I internalizing homophobia. I'm sexually attracted to men similar to myself, the super masculine man. Not all gay men are "acting straight" out of fear of not fitting in or overcompensating to prove a point. I've been out of the closet since I was 14. Played football from the age of 9 and continued through high school and even into college. I also raced motocross/dirt bikes. I was fortunate to have an incredibly accepting & supportive network of family & friends.
    The male spectrum pole, (no pun intended) is completely covered. Every flavor of male, from straightest to gayest is on it. There is someone for everyone. Fem guys tell me all the time that I'm missing out on great people by limiting my attractions to only straight "seeming" gay guys. I don't "limit" my attractions at all. I'm attracted to who I'm attracted to. That's that! There are a lot of gay guys who are only attracted to the feminine type. Everyone has a spot.
    Thank goodness I found a man in 1992, when I was 24, who is everything I was looking for in a partner. A NY state trooper. I have nothing against fem gay guys, but please don't judge me. Or maybe not be so absolute in telling me that I'm homophobic or have issues because of who I'm attracted to. May as well throw this out there as well. I went to my 1st and last gay pride parade in NYC in 1990. What I saw on some of those floats by performers was disgusting. Gay guys with dildos acting out sex scenes right in public. Then scream to the straight community for tolerance and acceptance? The hypocrisy is maddening! Certainly not gonna win over the heterosexual population when we give them ammo such as OPENLY acting out porno scenes in public for 300,000 onlookers, including children.
    That sect within the community perpetuates homophobia by shoving the pride flag and sexual proclivities down straight peoples throats. By letting their sexuality define them. Then we cry when straight people use that against us. Being gay doesn't define me. My sexuality is about 1% of what and who I am. The other 99% is what matters. Give out what you want back. Like acceptance, tolerance and understanding of people who honestly may not understand. Fly an AMERICAN FLAG. Leave the rainbows for water droplets to refract, reflect and disperse.
    The majorty of the ever growing acronym community are really starting to mimic ANTIFA with their hateful venomous vitriol and still after 36 years, still want nothing to do with the flock of hateful, intolerant bigots. Gd luck!

    I've seen this is an ever-present problem within the gay male community that fem guys are just... depreciated, and even blamed for the homophobia against gay guys. I don't know about violence, but there's a lot to see from the language and, imho, it all roots from mysogeny.

    • @antraeusatreidae4878
      @antraeusatreidae4878 5 років тому +3

      It's not homophobia to not be attracted to effeminate, gay men. If you're a gay dude it clearly seems to be an issue of transphobia and or quite simply the former - they're not attracted to guys in drag. It's a strong preference.

I've always been a little uncomfortable with drag because it seems unfair that people can put on other genders when I rarely get seen as my own gender (because I'm trans). But the way Donald explains it as playing with gender presentation and expressing gender in a different way makes a lot more sense.

I'll throw a new name out--UA-camr Dearlie. She's a singer/songwriter who identifies as asexual. Personally I'd like to see her speak about her experience being a creator and speaking her truth in a non-asexual world.

    I feel like a lot of yall are missing the point. Everytime this topic surfaces, it's always the "Yeah... and most femme guys are also into masc guys", and yeah that's probably true. However, this isn't at all the issue at hand... He's trying to address the feminine oppression that often occurs in a community where more than half of men have some degree of femininity. Nobody minds you being attracted to masc, most gay men prefer it, and I don't need stats to tell me that - just don't go around telling men they'd get a women if they wanted a sissy boy, it's hypocritical.

    I don't have a specific person to suggest to you for the episode on asexuality, but I really hope that at some point there can be a discussion on poc's relationship with the identity and why racial stereotypes might influence people's choice to or not to identify as asexual. The blog thingsthatmakeyouacey.tumblr.com has some really valuable reasources on this, and also issues of white supremacy in asexual movement. As someone who is white, and does identify as ace I think it is important to look at why other people may not be finding the same comfort I found in the community.
