I've been ingtrigued with Coppercoat for awhile now. It seems like their success lies in helping us get good information about the application process to ensure longevity. I'd even try three painters and one mixer, maybe. I'd have to agree that sanding could be a nail-biter but if the car people can Cut And Buff expensive automotive paint without burning through, then these guys will probably do just fine⛵

Good choice on the CopperCoat. I applied CC on my previous boat and it lasted 12 years and saved having to haul out all of those twelve years. I have also used it on my recent build and am very happy with the results. Application is a bit fiddy but well worth the trouble. The boat is looking beautiful - well done.

Good to see you using Coppercoat! Aladino's experience of working carefully and to a very high standard, are even more evident in a tricky task like this. I considered Coppercoat over a decade ago but my short season sailing didn't justify it. I would probably prefer to have shiny boat, bare fibreglass, but that is not possible and I like a good mooring. It seems to have served others very well, and saved on many haul outs. MCII sure has a a shiny bottom now! Well done to your friend and Aladino for a demanding day's work.

We are now on our third boat where we have had Coppercoat. It is a superior product. But, as you say it must be applied correctly. The only time we have had an issue was when SV Impavidus had the Copper coat applied by a 3rd party and they did it wrong in the keel area. We have just recoated SV impavidus after 9 years, already Coppercoat is proving just how good it is. Check out our Coppercoat videos. This product gets some bad press but only from those that do not apply it correctly. Sail Safe Guys, Ant & Cid

Hi guys, all right? For your magnificent Cape George 36, only the best ... (... starting with you ...) Now also the CopperCoat! I had it on an American boat purchased used years ago, the antifouling was already 6 years old and it lasted again 5 and I sold it that was still in excellent condition and effective. I then bought a Hallberg Rassy who also had CopperCoat, perfect. Years and years without thoughts and no expense, it is possible to clean at sea with an abrasive sponge without ruining the surface, Coppercoat is simply ingenious. One of the best product in 50 years of boating. An excellent choice boys, as for everything else. Fair winds

I had a 26’ sailboat anchored out I. A cove because there were no slips available in any marinas near me. I had a delta style anchor and it drug quite far during a thunderstorm once. I bought a 44 lb vulcan and 30’ of 3/8 chain and it didn’t drag anymore. Love that anchor.

Got Copper Coat on my boat, got a Rocna Vulcan 15 Kg too. There is some illusion out there about Copper Coat. It might be the best right now, you can have at your hull, but I heard you saying 10-15 years, that's not at all happening in my case. Don't think you're hull is closed for barnacles now. You still will have barnacles at your hull, but they're going off easier, than at hull without Copper Coat. I was anchoring in high pollution waters, so a hull cleaning once a month was necessary. But because of scraping the hull on a regular basis, the coat wont last 10-15 years. I was actually told 10 years, but after 5 years now, I have to renew Copper Coat.
To the Rocna Vulcan I can say, the anchor has always set at first time and saved my boat lately in hurricane Helene with gusts up to 60 Knots, in Bay waters. I have a 33 ft sailboat, about 7 tons of weight and I believe there is no better anchor out there, perhaps a Mantus Anchor. A 25 Kg Vulcan is the best choice for your boat and you will have always good and save anchoring, BUT - do not forget a 3-strand Nylon line 1" Dia, 15-20 ft long with a snubber to take the shock loads. The eyes are on a good snubber here, that adapts easy and save to the chain.
I can't wait to see your boat in the water. It's a beauty and an eye catcher. You did so much incredible work, now you guys deserve the globe to sail, as slow as possible please.
Good luck and always fair winds.

Man, that is one Heavy Duty anchor and rode.
We anchored out In an exposed area
Our boat weighted 18000 lb , we withstood 25 knots.
    The seas were 4-6 ft.
The wind reversed 150 degrees but we did not drag.
We had a 20 kg Rocna and 120 ft of 5/16” HT chain.
Based on your heavier anchor, and much heavier chain
I’d say you are good for at least 50 knots of wind .
    👍👍👍👍👍

What a great episode for me to keep in the files. We have a new to us Cabo Rico 45 that I plan on Copper Coating the bottom next year! I also need to see if that Rocna will fit on our bowsprit, I didn't think I could fit a Rocna on this boat but I thought it was because of the anchor shank. We also have a number of those gold/white dock lines and they are wonderful. You'll love them. Anxiously, as I'm sure you both are, waiting on your splash.

Probably important to mention that Coppercoat is a water-based epoxy, so it behaves very differently in terms of curing time but also you can soap and water clean up all of your tools and anything else. The water based epoxy is why they don't want you to use any acetone to wipe down the hull after sanding prep. A water hose is probably fine, but if you want it clinical clean and residue free then use distilled water in a backpack sprayer with 10% isopropyl alcohol.

Hi there, awsome anchor, I have the same type vulcan 25kg on my 41fr sailboat, be aware though, because it sets very fast, you may not pull to fast astern and as a result the anchor gear and anchor winch could be damage bacause of the snatch. So be gentle the first time. Nice video, looking forward for splashing. 😊

I remember way back in the day, Uma tried a DIY copper coat that seemed similar in concept to this. It didn't work very well, but again, it was something they formulated themselves, and I can't remember much about the application that they did, which may have not been all that good, since it was in the very early days of their journy. Hopefully the stuff that is designed by chemists and engineers, and comes with a very detailed application instruction pamphlet works as advertised.

I might have missed it, but why didn't you put the barrier coat on under the copper coat? Also, I would encourage you to burnish the surface within two weeks of application. I waited a few months and the epoxy was hard as nails and took a lot more work. I can tell you as well that copper coat does indeed work and last a long time. It has been on my boat for 14+ years now with very little growth.
