New nerf idea: The lower your health is, the more speed and cloak you will get.

It doesn’t need another nerf, not even 2 rockets and you’re dead. Spy and scout are the lighest classes ingame, but medic has 150 health and regeneration. Engineer can have 150 bonus health
I was thinking that damage resistance scales with health to incentivize using it when health is low, thus fooling the enemy. 100% = 20% damage resistance, 1% = 75% damage resistance for 3 seconds (because you often times get targeted by a whole team, 3 seconds seems pretty decent
also, bring back the ability to gain cloak from ammo boxes. Even if its a little bit. I made a vscript remake of the DR with you being able to pickup 10% cloak from large ammo boxes. Feels fair when I die, and feels fair when I dont. Then again, im playing against bots

Oh ho ho ho we got Mr. Spy-main here. Do you wanna know why people hated this weapon? Not because of the ability to fake your death, no no. It was because it was SO FUCKING SPAMMABLE, dear God.
Do you know how frustrating it is to corner a spy, practically already secured the kill, making your medic safe from backstabs. You took the time to identify who the spy was disguising as, taking the effort to land your shots correctly so he can't escape and secure a kill. That took quite a bit of effort and skill to do, but you know what that spy can do? No, not carefully avoid the hitscan/projectile using his skill. Instead all he has to do is click mouse 2 for a second and he survives. WOW, you took the effort to kill the spy and all he had to do was click a button and escape. Now imagine that, ALL THE FUCKING TIME YOU ENCOUNTERED THIS SPY thanks to ammo packs. It was so fucking annoying and spammable, it had nothing to do with the lack of attention, most of the time you KNEW that the spy dead rang, but thanks to the speed bonus and damage resistance, he was already out of any danger and escaped just because he clicked a singular button.
Let's look at the invis-watch, using it you have to manage your amount of cloak correctly, making sure you correctly use your cloak appropriately so your not wasting it, then you have to correctly time when to strike as one wrong move could get you killed, you had to use skill to correctly be effective.
Now let's look at the dead ringer "LOL IT DOESNT MATTER IF YOU BADLY TIME SOMETHING BECAUSE YOU HAVE A WATCH THAT STOPS YOU FROM DYING AT ALL XDDD". Do you see a difference? The pre-nerf dead ringer didn't encourage smart play, it was essentially a safety net. Anyway, did I change your mind?

Edit: When I first commented on this change, I thought it was a unneeded harsh nerf, but I tried it in game, and the Dead Ringer is actually still pretty good. You can get cloak with the Big Earner and that speed boost is just so good! Now I think this change was kind of pointless. The weapon generally functions the same. I still see shitty spies use it as a crutch, but I don't think it's that hard to counter if you're paying attention.

That's literally what a sidegrade is meant for. The vast majority of the weapons in TF2 are designed for a specific purpose and have an equal downside to balance that out so that it isn't just better than stock.
Stock Invisi-watch lets you cloak on demand and pick up metal, but bump into anyone and you're most likely dead unless you can get away with your own skill. The Dead Ringer allows you to get away quicker and easier due to its speed boost and damage reduction as well as the fact that for the first few seconds, your bumps don't register against other players and don't show a faint outline of yourself, at the cost of not being able to cloak on demand, and having to wait for it to recharge as opposed to being able to pick up metal.
It's a situational tool, like most every other weapon. Scattergun has consistent damage and 6 in the clip, but the Force-a-Nature has more bullets and knockback, but only has 2 in the clip and the knockback can make it harder to deal full damage on that second shot. Tomislav is silent and spins up faster, but has a lower damage output due to reduced damage and slower firing speed. Sniper Rifle allows for consistent long range shots but isn't great for closer combat unless you can hit your shots at that range while scoped in which requires practice, while the Huntsman is designed for a more aggressive Sniper playstyle, focusing more on close to mid range shots with long range being harder due to a lack of a scope.

At this point I only use the DR to play aggresively whitout camping in a corner and maybe try to be a bit more mobile, making it useful for quick escapes during the common fights you run into whit this playstile. To me it's still somehow useful, but the other watches just do the job better.

fun fact: if you kill a dead ringer spy with the half zatoichi and he used the dead ringer you wont get hp and you wont even overheal so thsts a cool exploit to know when a spy is useing the dead ringer
Same with Scout's Holy Mackerel. If you hit a Dead Ringer Spy with it, it won't say "FISH KILL!" in the kill feed.

Because when you kill a spy you don't want to have to check around for a spy again all because of the dead ringer. You want to kill a spy and be sure he's dead without any extra need to check.

Backburner and Airblast, git gud.
Scorch Shot? ....yeah definitely needs some tweaking but aside from that it’s fine.
Backburner shouldn't be able to deal random crits as well as regular backburning crits, but that's minor and doesn't really come up much, and the Scorch Shot really does a lot for one weapon. Basically, Backburner and airblast are fine, Scorch Shot isn't, at least not much.

Yes. It's fucking breaking game. I'm already tired from spy-buggers with kUnAi, dead (suck)ringer and AmBaSsAdOr, and now we have... technically immortality. It's worse even than random crit-rockets.
The question is why Spy can't just wear all of the cloaks on his hand and use them situationally

@@hmmm4989 probably all watches have some switch to turn them off or on. In game you'll be able to choose which watch to use by pressing R like with the vaccinator.

If you call yourself good at spy and use the dead ringer, *you’re not as good as you think.*
The dead ringer is a weapon specifically designed so that you don’t need to worry about not dying.
It says you died, and then to the enemy, you died. That means they won’t hunt you. As a good spy, you wanna make sure you don’t need to worry about not dying by not getting caught as spy. This weapon makes it so that you don’t need to worry about that. Skill makes the dead ringer not useful. If you don’t get caught or damaged as spy, you’re doing it right. If you get caught by a heavy and have to dead ringer away, you Aren’t doing it right.
