The story is incredibly encouraging. This shows that there is no excuse for being successful in life as long as someone is willing to work hard for it.
I have met and worked with Spencer West on several fundraising campaigns before. He was a guest speaker at the "Building Bridges" Events, an Organization that helps partner major Companies as Employers with People with Disabilities to Employ them. He is one of the Kindest, Funniest, Sweetest, Smartest, Most Motivational People I have ever met in my Life❣️ And I was so Proud when he Summited on Kilamajaro. What an Epic Achievement. It is something I aspire to do someday as well! Love you Spencer! ✌️💞✨ Kirsti
You are an inspiration!!! Never stop believing in yourself!! I can not imagine how many lives y’all changed climbing, but also sharing the video. Hats off to you and your friends!
This is amazing!! My cousin Kara Richardson Whitely climbed Kilimanjaro 3 times, summiting twice- all while weighing over 300lbs. She's written books and her story is actually being turned into an Amazon film produced by Chrissy Metz. Everyone looks at Everest as the hardest climb, but even the most fit can't summit Kilimanjaro. Bravo!
I think he kind of sits with part of his torso underneath? Like it's further back in the chair. They wouldn't have been able to do an amputation that cut into his torso without killing him,
The amputated just below his legs, so he has all his organs. His torso just didn't grow as much because his legs were amputated young which alters your growth pattern.
i’d seen Spencer at one of the Me to We concerts years ago. it’s amazing to see he’s still here and doing the most for himself and others. truly inspirational, one of the most wholesome people in the world.
This is your moment to shine and spread your positive light to the masses! Forever proud of you. Hoping Ellen’s team sees this and your other vids somehow. That’s my dream for you because the world needs more Spencer now more than ever!!!
Amazing. When I see videos like this I feel overwhelmed with such happiness not only for the person but just in general. It provides a sense of hope and idk. My heart just feels warm and full when I see videos along the lines of this one
I will never forget the day I met Spencer West. He is one of the most humble, genuine, and inspiring people ever and I just hope everyone has the opportunity to meet and chat with this amazing human being♥️
I've seen Spencer speak at We Day in Winnipeg, Manitoba four separate times, once with floor seats, just this year while one of my friends spoke onstage. This year, he came out as gay, inspiring me to yell "Me too!" While he high-fived me and while my then gf yelled, "That's my girl! Love you!" From a few rows behind me. Truly an amazing icon behind an amazing generation.🏳️🌈💖
Spencer, you're such a strong person, and even though u lost half of ur body, u still did all that with persistence and determination. You're an inspiration to me and many others, so thank u!
I met this man at my city’s WE day; you the soo! He is such an inspiration, who helped us, kids, at the time, to believe in ourselves, and strive for our goals!
What’s amazing is that I have climbed the mountain at the age of 15. The challenge I face was completely different to what you have came across. I have bouncy legs which will decently help me on the way down, I went up the rongi route which took 5 days up and 2 days down. When we got to the top it was -20 with a wind chill of -15. And I cannot imagine going to do that in your position. Thank you for doing it and inspiring people. I know the challenges which i had to over come, but yours were Mountains compared to mine. Well done! and polé polé, a coonamatata!
Dude‘s a hero,I cant even make beyond 4000m on kilimanjaro because those high altitude syndrome that make you have difficult time breathing at high places despite I have fully functional legs
Where he talks about the view, that would seem so beautiful being there. It’s so crazy that I would still never go with all my limbs, and he went up with his arms and friends.
dont let anyone hat on u cuse u are like doing more activities than many millions sometimes I just wonder how it feels and I just don't know like, but ur so cool and ur so nice and a good friend keep up❤
As someone who climbed Kilimangaro's sister mountain, Meru, I know how hard it is. While Meru is not as tall, it is much steeper. But one day I want to climb Kili, and I hope that I can be just inspiring to my friends along the way as this man was to his.
Lucky for him he doesn’t need to buy pants...but now I think I realize that I take my legs for granted and stuff like he’s never going to experience the feeling of taking a jog or feeling the sand beneath his feel at the beach...
You are an inspiration and your right anyone can try to accomplish anything if you really set your mind to do just that or if you can't baby steps is no problem but as long as you give it your all
And I don’t even have the motivation to get off of my bed.....
Then let this motivate you
No that's called depression, go see your doctor
lmao
Same
His legs dont hurt
I have perfectly functioning limbs and do not feel like ever climbing Kilimanjaro 😩 good on him
i have perfectly functioning TWO HOT GIRLFRIENDS and i dont feel like bragging today even though i am the unprettiest youtuber ever
It’s not too hard hahaha I just did it this summer, it’s you don’t believe me my insta is _elias.blanca_ lolll
Yeh, his legs dont hurt
FBI • lollll but his arms do
Dust Buggy I did it and it isn’t that hard. I’m 12
I like that he didn't glamorize the hike, he explained the problems they had, but still emphasized why he still did it.
His arms must be ripped bro
One of the most inspiring things I've ever seen. How fortunate the three of you are to have such an amazing friendship. Subscribed!

Spencer west came to our school and inspired many students....
Same
I met Spencer during a speech he made at my school. Not only is he a fantastic speaker, but he's a very kind guy too.
Weird flex but AWESOME
Climbing on a mountain with your hands.
Umm WHAT!
These guys are the people we need more in this world to support each other through bad times
i dont understand where his organs are like thats not even a full torso im so confused
I think he kind of sits with part of his torso underneath? Like it's further back in the chair. They wouldn't have been able to do an amputation that cut into his torso without killing him,
@Evan Laing I'd guess that it is in the front and not under
The amputated just below his legs, so he has all his organs. His torso just didn't grow as much because his legs were amputated young which alters your growth pattern.
It is a full torso actually he explains it on his YT channel
Sir, You are an inspiration. Thank you.
I love Spencer. I've met him a few times and he's so nice
And I find it hard to get out of bed in the morning...
Every time I don't feel motivated I am going to think about this guy climbing a mountain on his hands 👐 🗻
i’d seen Spencer at one of the Me to We concerts years ago. it’s amazing to see he’s still here and doing the most for himself and others. truly inspirational, one of the most wholesome people in the world.

I'm legit crying right now, your story is amazing
“I’m not trying to be an inspiration”
Attempts to motivate and inspire you
I will never forget the day I met Spencer West. He is one of the most humble, genuine, and inspiring people ever and I just hope everyone has the opportunity to meet and chat with this amazing human being♥️
Seriously, his videos are so uplifting. Everytime I watch his videos I smile through the entire time.
Friends: Do you have a crush?
Me: 2:23 *sweats nervously*

"I'm not trying to be an inspiration" I want to be an example of look what I can do, what can we all do
Yay spencer!! I’m so lucky to have met you.. you’re such an inspiration to many including myself ❤️
I love seeing people going to Kenya and enjoying it, as a Kenyan myself it really makes me happy seeing others enjoy the country.
I mean at least his legs won’t get tired

If you don’t believe that I have climbed it add my Instagram @oscarbuntingrelph
this is the best video buzzfeed has ever uploaded.
At least he couldn’t complain that his legs were hurting
His legs won’t hurt, he’s at a blatant advantage
He didn’t have to flex on us this hard, what a G
I've done some pretty difficult hikes (half dome, R2R2R, etc.), but I can't imagine doing Kili like that. Mad props to you man!
This guy must have some strong ass forearms
Literally the most inspiring & motivational thing I’ve ever watched , greatly appreciated 👏🏾🙏🏾
It’s crazy how your body can still live without Half of your body
I met this guy when going to WE Day a few years ago,
A very kind and inspirational person :)
3:07 looks like he skipped leg day😂ahhhh I feel bad now😂
Loved this ! Good luck with all your future endeavours:) Will always wish you well
People out here climbing mountains on their hands
But I can't even get out of bed
I love watching your videos. I couldn’t have made that climb with my two legs! You and I would have been fighting to see who gets carried! 😅😂🤣
Dude‘s a hero,I cant even make beyond 4000m on kilimanjaro because those high altitude syndrome that make you have difficult time breathing at high places despite I have fully functional legs
That moment when you realize that you made your friends trip the worst trip possible
SO Proud of you Spencer!!!

not usually a fan of buzzfeed but this is how a video should be done.
He literally defines inspiration at 0:08 but says it isn't inspiring
aww i remember i was in elementary school when he was a guest speaker in my school,, now im in high school and i still recognize him
I saw the thumbnail before I read the title and thought "that snow is so deep"
😂
You are amazing, Spencer.
He came to my school and have his autograph
Where he talks about the view, that would seem so beautiful being there. It’s so crazy that I would still never go with all my limbs, and he went up with his arms and friends.
He at least doesn't have pain in his legs
sooooo much rudeness in the comment section..
After seeing him at the gym I realized I could just cut off my legs and never have leg day ever again
You are such an inspiration for everyone, congratulations on your amazing journey ❤️❤️
He came to speak at my school. Incredibly moving and incredible
I remember when he visited my school when I was 6. It was so inspiring.
i saw him at WEDay vancouver in 2016! (grade6) he was super cool! he walked on stage on his hands! it was amazing!
I’m not crying, YOU are crying!
dont let anyone hat on u cuse u are like doing more activities than many millions sometimes I just wonder how it feels and I just don't know like, but ur so cool and ur so nice and a good friend keep up❤
Spencer!! I love this guy! Demi Lovato brought him on tour a few years ago to speak as an opening act and it was so inspiring. Much love 💗
I’m so inspired, I’m cutting my legs off tomorrow, no more excuses!
If you can dream it, you can do it.
Very inspirational. Thank you for sharing your story 💜💜💜💜
The real version of two and a half men
Wow. Changed his campaign to suit what our world needed at the time. That's selfless.
Incredibly inspiring man, wow! Goes to show how strong you can be despite having a disability.
clickbait title, but still badass
I climbed up the stairs
You truly went out of your comfort zone and that’s something we should all do, but instead we make up excuses.
Man i cant even walk like one Stair
I climbed Kili last year. Props to this guy. It's a tough climb.
Action speaks
And I think I "CAN'T" ...
He's over here climbing mountains like a boss... Meanwhile I dont even have the courage to stay on the basketball team😩
As someone who climbed Kilimangaro's sister mountain, Meru, I know how hard it is. While Meru is not as tall, it is much steeper. But one day I want to climb Kili, and I hope that I can be just inspiring to my friends along the way as this man was to his.
It's a good idea
“Then they removed everything below my pelvis, and they told my parents I wouldn’t walk.”
....well duh.
🙌🙌🙌
Lucky for him he doesn’t need to buy pants...but now I think I realize that I take my legs for granted and stuff like he’s never going to experience the feeling of taking a jog or feeling the sand beneath his feel at the beach...
I drink pepsi with my hand
At least he doesn’t have to do leg day!
Next up: “I climbed Mount Everest on my head”
Thank you for sharing this truely inspiring story
You are an inspiration and your right anyone can try to accomplish anything if you really set your mind to do just that or if you can't baby steps is no problem but as long as you give it your all
