- In the Russian dance Berezka, women move with such short steps that they look like they're gliding across the stage. During some moves, they move as if they're on rollers. The dance is performed by the Berezka Dance Ensemble.

Anyone else came here from Instagram?
Sharrianne Fernandes literally me
First i was like, ”what, from instagram?” Then looked my active apps and was like “Ohhh! That’s why i am here looking floating women 😂😂
Yes haha
YES 😂
From a cartoon on de page @gudim_public
Imagine learning that and floating down the hallways of a hotel at night to scare the other guests 😀 maybe you can just stand on a roomba though? 🤔
It sounds good in theory but imagine getting your dress stuck in the loud whirring roomba making beeping noises and moving VERY slowly
@@melissalurhes6901 And instead of moving towards the other guests you'd just randomly make turns and bump into walls... maybe not that scary after all :D
this is exactly why I want to learn how to do this dance!
@@melissalurhes6901 LMFAOO
Hahaha….
Absolutely fascinated. I adore lots of aspects of Russian folk culture.
In the clip that starts at 1:15, you can see their feet moving under their hem. It's not super-short steps, it's stepping while keeping your upper body absolutely still.

They’re not doing a good job
@@muslim3812 allah isn’t real
@@Ryleet888 the illusion is mainly given away by the width of the dresses. The dresses must both be floor length to hide the feet, and also have enough room to disguise any movements under them. Ones with smaller skirts show movement, which is why the illusion doesn’t work so well
they can move without movement on their body and their steps are soo short they make steps rapidly when dancing theres so much effort they do to make this dance.
Me - about to sleep
Yt- see Russian dance
Also me -woww 😳😯
Amazing, but slightly unsettling . . .
pretty much like everything else about russian culture)
@@davidovics92 Hahahahaaaa truee
I think this is awesome, even with the explanation as to how it's done. They must have very strong legs to keep this up.
It’s amazing!
Самые красивые женщины в России!!!!! Русские!!
its amazing!
This made me uncomfortable idk why but it did
really amazing!!!!!!
This is so cool
This is really Cool!
So strange but I keep watching
Um encanto!
Amazing 😀🤩
Love it
The shoulders have remain steady for sure.
Saying that the shortness of the steps is what makes it look like gliding is FOR SURE a misdirect. It has to be something like the way marching bands march
Or the captioner just took (or heard) a wild-ass guess instead of searching for the explanation. The fundamental idea is easy, but doing it this perfectly takes LOTS of practice.
So they literally just walk with really thick wide dresses on....
harder than u think
Платья и вправду тяжёлые, но ты попрубуй сам так походить. У вас мужик в платье это нормально 😂
This is also practiced in some forms of belly dance whilst shimmying
Can't tell me there not hiding hover boards under their dresses! Some of the videos look like their actually stepping but others look like their on hover boards.
Hermosas
My toes hurts now
if you need camera operator, find beryozka dancer,.. no gimbal or stabilizer need
🔥🔥🔥🔥
Damn if model doin this when on runaway its must have been perfect
I always thought this was a Georgian style of dancing, not Russian
Обоссался значит 😂
💝
For a minute their I thought they were wearing skates 😧
Interessante
I can only imagine the Charlie horses they get when they are first learning. OUCH!!
Who else came from instagram? Like if you did and comment if this isn’t even your first video watching floating Russian women. Cause it’s like my third lol
Same
Rasputin sent me here. 😄
Como elas fazem isto???
1. Крепкие балерины
2. Тяжёлые платья
3. Тренеровки
did they use hover board ???
No. They just take very tiny steps and it looks like they are floating
I know they don’t, but sometimes I like to think they do lol
Everyone hates Russia, but Russia is actually AMAZING
I came from tik tok lol
Music is not at all for this elegant dance, you should stay the original..
Damn I feel sorry for them actually. They have worked so hard to perfect such a beautiful dance. Nowadays the same thing can be achieved with a shitty fucking “hover board” or “HEELY’S” if you’re as good as I once was.
Actually this is not a russian dance. This style of floating dance belongs to the indigenous peoples of north caucasus (eg. Circassians, which russians commited a genocide towards btw). The russian choreographer did appropiate it. Btw cossacks also appropiated the costumes and dances from the north caucasians.
@@1xyz6992 It's all cultural. Russian and other Slavic cultures originated from there.
@@atheadax that's not true. Slavic people did not originate from the caucasus. The real indegenous inhabitants of the caucasus are the caucasian peoples like ingush, dagistanis, circassians (adygheans) etc. And this dance where you dance on your toes, which look like your floating is originally the (female) dance of the circassians. This is literally the national way of dancing of circassians. We do dance mainly on our toe tips. Even the costumes of the russian costumes and dance style are appropriated from the circassians (costume known as cossak costume is called cherkesska, cherkes is what russians call circassians). The survinig circassians had to leave the caucasus. And live in the diaspora. I am also a diaspora circassian. We do dance the floating dance. Beyozka which according to my researches was created in 1948 by nadezhda nadezhdina. If the cossacks appropriated the costumes why should a choreographer not appropriate a dance style. And this dance If you not believe me just research it. Search for circassian (female).
That's the worst take I've ever heard. That's like seeing a car drive by and saying "nOwaDayS i fEeL.sO bAd fOr tHe gUy woTh a bUgAtTi bEcAuSe pEoPlE aChOevE tHe sAmE thInG wiTh a uSeD gEo Metro".
@@the-dullahan NAH IT’S NOT LIKE THAT AT ALL. The irony of you calling out my “take” with your own stupid, shitty “take!” 🤦🏻♂️😂🤣
Creepy
these movements are based on indigenous caucasus (adige, chechen, georgian, etc.) folk dance and have nothing to do with russia.
