So glad this was in The Bear exposing it to the newer generations. Incredible song, incredible group, incredible voices. May god rest your beautiful soul, Ronnie.
your post and all who replied to it make me so happy. there's so much more incredible music from my generation and if it takes a great series like "the bear" to help you discover it...even more kudos to that show.
I heard this by accident today 02/12/22, streaming through local radio channels driving in my work truck to work this morning....I had to pull over. Into a local dealer of travel trailers, on Palm Beach in Ft. Myers. It was 04:47 am. This... song is everything to me. The words, the voices. My God.... I'm so glad I'm alive to hear this. I forget the GREATEST decade of music>'60's. Sorry all, but I'm 64 I was 5 or 6 when this was on the radio. I heard this in my parents car. When they sat next to each other in the front bench seat :-). Sorry this old guy has teared up. I LOVE THIS. The Ronettes and all the early '60's female groups I adore. Love them Thank You Ronettes for wonderful memories. Ronnie you made me happy. I hope to see you again singing in the here after. Rest in Peace Ronnie
Don't suppose she was a witness to an offbeat, casual wedding.... could be she'd rather watch than participate. Her wedding to the maestro ended on a bad chord...but she was sweet and optimistic probably!
Lots of Guys and Girls found love, for their Girlfriends & Boyfriends and it proceeded to Their Wives & Husbands because of this beautifully Romantic Masterpiece...I was 5 years old when this song came into the airwaves, and instantly Fell in LOVE with all three of these Women... The Romance is STRONG with this Song....
Working by myself, Memorial Day '95, I called in to 105.7 to request this song. The d.j.had me introduce it. I dedicated it to my wife of 17 years at that time. Got it recorded. She listens to it now and then, now 27 years later.
I'm a big fan of the Ronnettes!! Everything about this song , Ronnie's voice, the instruments all coming together. AS Good As It GETS!! REST IN PEACE RONNIE.
Hey guys! I'm a native of southern Brazil, I was born in 1972, I discovered the Ronettes a short time ago, I'm in love with the music these beautiful women made. God bless the Ronettes!
They could have went so much farther had Phil not been such a selfish prick & made Ronnie chose between him or going on a world tour with the Beatles! If he really loved her as he claimed, he would have encouraged to spread her wings, as if it was meant to be, she would have returned to him.
The production is great, the drummer on this and ‘Be my baby’ is outstanding. Another of those American songs that were the backdrop to my teenage years.
people can say what they want to about Phil Spector personal life. CAN'T take away the man's musical genius. and GREAT contribution to the music industry.
The other Ronettes were on tour with Dick Clark when this was recorded, so backup was done by Sonny and Cher and the Blossoms. Amazing stuff. Ronnie has a unique and very clear voice.
Rest in Peace, Ronnie ......Heaven just got another beautiful voice in the choir. We have lost one of the greatest female voices ever, you will be so missed., 💙💜💛❤️
Fabulous production from the best nutjob in the business. Fabulous performance. Just a song of love where you can hear every word sung unlike to-days hateful filled black music.
I was already familiar with the song, but The Bear certainly brought it back as it did for others. Painful episode to watch, and one that I won't want to ever watch again. But the use of this song redeemed the episode for me.
what a brilliant group, Ronnies Voice, her Octaves, and yet this song/s produced by the late legend Phil Spector, my dad said this guy had the midas touch with artists, he had a idea of how he wanted the songs to sound, and this was was the first time i heard the phrase ' Wall Of Sound' i have loved 'The Ronettes' from first time hearing this lovely classic, and not forgetting 'Be My Baby' that brilliant drum opening, songs from these and other great artists will never fade, and live on for generations to come.. Thank You 'Ronettes' RIP Ronnie xx
I personally reckon that THIS IS the best song ever written. The words and music mesh so naturally like land and sea and can melt the stoniest of hearts. Truely awesome.Nothing comes close to 60's music. ☮💖🖖
RIP ronnie...first saw you at a murray the k show at the brooklyn fox in december of 1962. we all wanted to look and be as talented as you, your sister, estelle and cousin nedra. thanks for creating the music that will live with me and those of my generation forever.
I'm with you Zach. Sure the lead singers deserve a lot of credit in a good group, but a great performance is a team effort. Accompanists, musicians and backing singers can add something wonderful. This song is a great example.
It’s more than just backing vocals it’s literally the pure voices of angels on high. Look up Phil Spector’s “wall of sound” technique, then you can better understand what I’m talking about! 😀
I remember being a 12 yr old rocker wannabe & idolized Phil Spector in 1963.All my friends at Perry Jr. High in Miramar, Fl. were in love with the Ronettes
A kid when they had their hey day, early to mid 1960s, another great voice has been silenced, the Ronettes hit it big before the Motown wave took over, Rest Well Ronnie Spector, you fought the good fight, the music you left us will out live us all...
