    I've been waiting for this trailer... windshield, u-dinette, double bunks, narrow body... and towable with mid-sized truck (Duramax). And peeps I know like their Coachmans. Just have to find storage.

      I was looking at this for my 3.6 Colorado. Running the numbers I would say I am good to go as long as I really keep track of the weights that go in the truck and trailer.

      @@claytoncummings4195 - You are probably going to tax the capability of your Colorado with this trailer. Check Chevrolet's trailering guide specifications for your vehicle you will see what the manufacturer recommends. If you have the trailering package, your maximum trailer weight rating is 7000 lbs. (700 lb tongue weight); if not, it's 5,500 lbs. Next, take the trailer's GVWR, take 13% of that number to find the approximate tongue weight and compare it to your payload number. You are probably overloaded on the payload alone. The best thing to do is find a CAT Scale (local truck stop), load your Colorado like you are going camping and see what the vehicle weighs. Then subtract that number from your truck's GVWR and you will have your actual available payload. You will most likely be over loaded when you add the tongue and hitch weights to this. A trailer this size normally requires a properly equipped 1/2 ton pickup truck, especially if you have kids and the junk they want to have with them. Check the stickers on your truck's door. I think you will be very surprised. Now, you probably could tow this trailer, but you will only do it once and will definitely NOT enjoy the experience. Safe travels!

      I tried contacting the coachmen Apex division multiple days with multiple listed phone numbers to inquire about the flush kitchen setup, (that would eliminate the closed slide issue, preventing practical access) with no luck. Maybe you with all your star power will have more influence. Yep, star power as I have been watching your videos for over two years now. Thanks!

      Also concerning slide toppers, on a windy day or during a storm, does the slide have to be put in due to the slide topper. Lastly, those underpowered bathroom fans that whisper ineffective air, that is where the trend needs to upgrade. Reminds me of vehicle window manual cranks, outdated and not convenient.

      They're all slick, aren't they? Without knowing more about you and how you plan to camp it's difficult to offer more personalized suggestions. Give our team a call, explain your plans/goals. That'll help them advise which seems a better fit for you.

    First time buyer doing my research and I'm thinking this model is the one for me and the family. I'm curious, would this tow okay behind a half ton pickup? My truck is rated for 9200lbs towing and I'm sure it would pull it but I want to make sure I find something that will pull comfortably without stressing me or the truck. Any advice? Thanks!

    • @JoshtheRVNerd
      @JoshtheRVNerd  5 років тому

      You could tow more/larger if you wanted to. The short length, light weight, and 7'6" body will be WELL within your safe capacities.

    Josh, My wife and I are looking to upgrade to the 245 from a 193, we drive a Tacoma and the max towing capacity is 6400lbs. We are using the E2. We travel with 2 adults, 1 baby, 3 dogs and a parrot. We don't put any water in, we carry clothes, tools, food, beer, diapers and a couple chairs. The 245 is about 70% of the max before adding people, the dogs, and stuff. The dogs are smaller. We have mixed answers that we would be safe. I really suck at math but I drive large airport fire trucks so I'm used to driving bigger stuff. You are the pro at this. Would we be within our safe limits?

    • @JoshtheRVNerd
      @JoshtheRVNerd  5 років тому +1

      You're easily within safe limits, but your comfort in the towing experience may vary based on your expected terrain. Vehicle will not like you in mountain climbs, but will be otherwise fine for general highway & road use.

    We are very interested in this trailer. I have a 2017 Nissan frontier with a max tow weight of 6100# . Is this enough truck to pull it?

    • @JoshtheRVNerd
      @JoshtheRVNerd  5 років тому +3

      You're within safe specs. Obviously properly hitching/brake control are a must here. If your plans were to go cross-country touring then I may recommend a larger truck or a slightly lighter camper like a 208BHS Apex Nano (basically just a little brother to this one), but for any general use scenario you're fine.
      I don't think you want to go any bigger, but you're fine.

    Great videos - I've learned a lot from you/them. After all the research I think this trailer is right for our family of four (kids 9 & 11). We would very likely explore - travel to different campgrounds - vs pick one and stay for the summer. I live in Calgary - Canada - with tonnes of prairie and Rocky Mountain adventures - very similar the Denver, CO geography. Yes, we have both prairie, foothills, and mountain diving...
    Question - I drive a Mercedes ML350 BlueTec diesel, with 7,700# towing capacity. I'm getting a lot of mixed messages from other RV owners about towing this trailer. My RV rep says no worries, Mercedes dealership has no clue - they sell cars, not RVs thus just quote the numbers... What are your thoughts, good Sir. Seen anyone enjoy this trailer with a mid-size SUV?
    Again, great videos... I've watched a lot. Really like everything you have to say about the Coachman product. I value quality and resale value... and entertaining videographers ;-)

      @@jbags85 No, it was not a quality related decision. That was actually one of the things that made it so hard -- Apex was really good back in service center. Not a problem child.
      They simply weren't finding the success of some of the other brands we carried here -- that's all. Freedom Express specifically was suffocating our Apex's in the 8ft wide segment
