I feel like argostar is very similar to Invoked. In decks that don't need a normal summon, you can just play Adra, which converts into Tydel + Eteo + discard a card to search the fieldspell for two pseudo-negates and a bounce. This is all from just one wave of support. If future support allows the archetype to extend even a little bit further, you can make silouhatte rabbit for anguish pattern and use one of the trap monster for a Time Thief Redoer bounce, ending on a very respectable endboard of varied interaction.
That makes sense, but it looks weak as the pseudo-negates are very "pseudo" if the field spell triggers on the next chain. The payoff isn't worth playing 3 bricks it seems.
@@bernardoabf The negates are not useless, merely difficult to use. If you're smart you can make them work. E.G. if your opponent adds poplar to hand, you can chain one of your trap monsters. Then in a new chain, your field spell will negate the poplar's on-summon effect.
Deck is very nice to play when getting paired with small ryzeal package. You basically have 18 free slots for non-engine. The fact that the field spell is a once per chain means you can combat against any type of sequencing opponent would try to do. Deck is extremely fast at pushing in damage as well. Here is some random trivia: the field spell get to negate a card even if opponent stop the trap cards effect to return to S/T zone because it only requires effect of a trap to be activated in monster card zone. If you use ryzeal engine, you can normal summon adra, place tydel and eeto on the field, use tydel search 2nd eeto fron the deck, use ryzeal to send aggregator, ryzeal search eff cl1, aggregator target tydel in monster zone cl2. Since tydel got negated, it will go back to S/T and forget that it has already activated this turn. So you can discard 2nd eeto, search field, add back 2nd eeto and now you have 2 bounce in the back
These aren't anything crazy yet, but they're bound to get more cards, and they are clearly designed to work with all past and future Trap Monster support. (Of which they have been printing alot of lately.)
for the runick hybrid I feel like the fact that you can make Bujintei Tsukuyomi with the two traps needs to be highlighted, it's most of the times a +2 (+1 when you activate it with one card in hand and +1 on the next fountain activation, if you kept a runick card as your discard). To take full advantage of this you need the ability to set almost everything in your hand, which usually wouldn't mesh well with handtraps, but nowadays you can run imperm and dominus purge
The problem is that the consistency is not there, you need at least 6 more ways to get to the Monster, the best you can do is 7th, but that’s a -1, that’s rough. Also then you can only XYZ, so you can go Re-doer but, not monster so it doesn’t defend itself. It’s pretty weak, but to be fair, it does make the Trap monster deck ever so playable. field spell should’ve add from anywhere, than that was 8 starers, and it might’ve been playable 🥹 ugh.
Currently the ways to get to them are: Rota (which is limited) Seventh tachyon Seventh ascension into tachyon M-X saber (via any rank 3 package) Galaxy Photon Dragon into primal tachyon into seventh tachyon (via non-normal summoning rank 4 package) Dragluxion into seventh tachyon (via rank 8 package)
The Arg field isn’t even good especially compared to Fountain lol. It’s not like a Visas pile situation where running multiple of the planet spells make sense because they all at least +1 on activation.
Correct me if I am wrong but wouldn't the effect that activates to put the continuous traps back in the S/T zone also trigger the field spell in the same chain? That would make the effect to tag out essentially a quick effect face-up card negate that can be activated as many times as you have face-up ARGOS traps. Seems incredibly strong
I think the biggest problem with trying to splash this in Vaal is that this'll be competing for space between the Scales with Followed Rhythm, Creation, and Ereditare.
@Petsinwinter2 I don't really see that as a problem, worst case scenario I keep one vaal trap in the grave to use with the link instead of keeping it on the field. The bigger problem is getting the main deck monster on the field since I would need it in my hand before I pend summon. If I get the setting effect off I can just jungle the trap monsters during the opponents turn.
@@SwanK194 yes, you can copy the normal traps with Zebufera, but they also have a continuous and a counter trap they like to keep in rotation, plus you'd be surprised what a difference 2 or even 3 or 4 uses of followed rhythm makes because you set it on the field. I could only see these Archetypes working together if the pendulum zones were somehow separate zones again.
ive played this deck a decent amount since it got put onto simulators, it NEEDS another engine to work at all since if you dont open the 1 monster your traps and field spell dont do anything, silhouhatte searches anything, m-x saber invoker is the only real way to search it, the puppet chess engine can search it, the problem there is that lets your opponent search quite literally any monster in the game, the deck does not have a chance if drytron goes first, the normal summon effect is activated so if they activate the drytron negate on it you cant banish it
As it stands, Argostars aren’t there yet. Like, couldn’t compete in Duel Links 2 years ago levels of not there. Either they need insane waves of future support, or they need to be paired with another control deck they synergise with well, ideally a monster focused Warrior deck that doesn’t need their normal summon.
Josh seemed to miss the point of this deck. It's a burn deck with a lot of control. If you run Statue of Anguish Pattern you can pop at least three cards a turn and then negate another three cards with the field spell. Been playing it online and winning against meta decks.
nah I'd rather have a card be a bit harder to search up and have better aesthetics. We already saw konami screw up with maliss if you want to search up a card it's not like there's any lack of details like attributes types stars.
No where need good enough. They are asking for two card spaces as well . They want to take a spell and trap card slot other wise there's no where to put them when they want to be a trap card again so you need to keep them open but they don't have effects that feel like it's worth taking up two field slots. The kinda slow trap decks that want to control the game needs the back row and then they fill the monster zone too
field spell negate not being an additional effect or at least quick feels like a huge oversight when the cards only seem good at perpetually reactivating, could've at least given them 3 in-engine hrdabyss triggers to survive their board being broken
@@HumanoidCableDreads they start a new chain, so A) they only really get some disruptive mileage against a few cards being played, like sangen summoning or promethian princess and B) can't defensively negate anything in an archetype that uses 2+ of your s/t zones at all times (trap monsters are also always vulnerable to backrow ls/hfd regardless of what zone there in)
@Cyberkid545 lol no. Plenty of control decks either stop or can play thru a single HFD. Traptrix literally has as a LOTHP function in deck, Lab has interactions in both grave and hand, Dinomorphia runs a ton of counter traps that beat the 1 of HFD, etc.
the concept is nice but the first two trap monsters are awful and do almost nothing, these are time thief redoer bounce enablers at best, this deck needs more to have any chance
I agree that they're not good enough yet, but at some point there will be a critical mass of them. This are only 5 cards, and I expect more. There are cards like "That's 10" and "You're Finished", Apophis the Swamp Deity. Once this reaches a critical mass, you could totally build some kind of cool pile deck with them.
They are obviously gonna get another wave. It’s trash right now. Field spell is a 1 of at most, 1 actual starter monsters, and the 3 trap monsters varies in quality with the bounce one being the best disrupt. This is basically worse Centurion/Lab/and even Eld tbh. On bright side this looks like a Shifter friendly deck, but there are better Shifter decks lol. Reminder this is a game where trap decks like Lab can do things like turn 0 Arias + Daruma to end your turn.
