    You did a pretty good job explaining this. It's still confusing though. You did two takes and yet there are 3 layers. One would assume that there would be a take for every layer.
    The concept of "layer 1" you did not explain.
    Judging from this video, it seems to be a virtual layer.
    the up arrow on the layer header seems to *juggle* that layer to the top.
    Anyway. Your video still helped me a lot. I tried using layers to track a musician and I confused the hell out of myself with this virtual layer 1 thing.
    I love S1 but it is confusing as hell. There are a lot of subtle, seemingly unnecessary complexities that are not well explained.

      3:58 you say "Track one and two"... No. Saying this is confusing. THEY ARE ALL "Track 1" there is no "Track 2" here. the "2" in brackets means that there are two audio events/takes that are available (overlapping) at that point. Notice the first slice only has one audio event available so there are no brackets.

      4:05 you say "and both of these parts came from layer 3", well yes, but this is misleading. It would be more accurate to say that the first part (of the last two parts) is really "layer 1" (which is the virtual layer that was occupied by layer 3 for that interval by default), and then the second part was layer 3.
      S1 is guilty of confusing people by NOT LABELLING Layer 1 when it is promoted to the top. It simply labels it by it's track name. One must then ASSUME that it means "Layer 1". No wonder people are confused.

      S1 *SHOULD* make it clear that it creates 2 layers on the first take. It should do so by properly LABELLING "Layer 1" when it is the top layer.

      @TheStavrin 5 років тому +1

      You can get rid of the clicks between the borders by using a very very slight fades on the beginning or the end of an audio block :)

    So I was working on an rnb track. Did the vocals and felt I could do better. I couldn't find the track to layers or recording modes window after following another video so I manually added a layer and tried to record. Mind you it wasn't on track to layers. I have new takes that I like and want to keep. But when I mute the clips on the audio track and hit play and solo a track I hear audio playing when everything is muted. Why is that? And some tracks play audio that isn't even showing clips of on the playlist. I reaaaaally don't want to re record them at all. Anyone got any advice?? It's driving me crazy looking on the internet for a solution

    Traditionally a musician might want to just punch in a short section.
    Then he or she says "keep that but let me try another." Can you, at this
    point, switch over to TAKES TO LAYERS and then back? When you have your
    COMP finished can you save it as one continuous mixed track and delete
    the other takes?

    This was a good video for showing the functionality, but very confusing in terms of how to do it.
