Tbh I went into this thinking they’d come out terrible, but they look a lot better than I expected I think it might have been a little cleaner looking if you painted the edges of the lens chrome instead of black though. Either way I respect the effort 👏🏽

When I attempted this on my f30, the acrylic would bubble if I let it heat up too much, is there any way to prevent this or does anyone have any advice? F30 is tough because there’s a bad angle on the lights I have to shape the acrylic around.
@@Q50swerv you just tape off the parts of the lens you don’t want black and leave a edge around the lens exposed and paint it black or silver. I think I show it a little better in my 350z lens video

I’ve always thought bout trying this but didn’t know how it would come out. You have me the courage to actually attempt it for one of my personal car first lol. What size plexiglass/ acrylic did you get?
Do it man! A handful of people have tried this following my video and have done good with them! I have a video doing these to a 370z using a slightly different method you can try too. As far as the size if you can just buy the biggest thinest sheet they have that way you have more than enough should be like $45ish
I want the opposite. My Mazda RX8 comes with stock white lens tail lights and I hate white lenses on tail lights, I want them red. Do you do this reverse work ?
@@uxvu the Q tails have one too. I just didn’t add that on these ones but if you don’t brake the lense and mold it over the stock lense you might be able to have it still
They look awesome only thing I would do is paint the lens sliver like you did in the inside over the black glue all you got to do is tape off the lens in the center and paint the edges if that make sense

Just wanted to ask did you tuck the lens behind the lights or did you cut them to oem size im doing mine but idk till where to cut and also how did you get the lens off the light without them braking?
So for the most part they aren’t tucked behind, but they do hug the light. I don’t know how to explain it other then we tried to keep it in the same spot the stock lights were. As far as taking it off the bigger lenses weren’t to difficult just have to take your time and wiggle it out but the small one kept cracking in the corner. So we molded the lens but not the edge, took the light off painted it then molded the edge over and cut it. Other then that you can mold it then once you have your shape re heat the lenses on the edge to get the light off. Hopefully that made sense and helps!

@@IamAdrianb no less than 2 days but could be 2-6 days just depends if you have someone to help you, the right equipment and if everything behaves like it should. You can also do this same process but mold the acrylic over the existing lenses. Is a little harder but less risky

@ wavy along the edges, super tacky just have them custom make them not that tacky work lol clears shouldn’t have the border painted, only reason your painting is because without paint it would look terrible all along the edge
@@Avertible 1st they were barley wavy and have since been fixed. 2nd when I made them there was one guy who had actual ones and he was booked out. 3rd you paint the black edges on "actual clears" too. Again your hatting on something that was done custom and literally made a flat piece of acrylic into an actual lens. But again thanks for both comments all love on my end.

Yup that’s exactly right, once you peel off the film it’s clear clear

@@antdog0421 we used silicone and the lenses wrap around the tail a bit to secure it more. But you can just use silicone, or a plastic welder

No the plastic isn’t colored red it is re plastic not just something you can remove.
