Why isn't your logo using the Vietnamese flag? - Actually I use the South Vietnam flag because it represents Viet Kieu (Vietnamese immigrants after the fall of Saigon), my parents were both boat refugees before immigrating to Canada. My logo combines two parts of my identity: Maple leaf because I'm Canadian, and the South Vietnam flag because I'm Vietnamese :)

Lovely outfit💓❤️ btw it makes sense that you would pack unagi for hikes because traditional unagi meals are super caloric, and we have “unagi day” to get through our hot summers 🥰
White rice in instant pot: rinse, add 1:1 rice to water to instant pot, manual high pressure for 3 minutes. Natural release 15 minutes.
White rice in a pot: rinse rice. 1:1.5 rice to water. Bring pot with rice in it to a simmer. Once bubbling, put lid on and turn burner as low as it can go. Cook 15 minutes. Turn off burner and let sit for a few minutes. Do not open the lid until it is completely done.

The whole "we're going to over cook it a little bit" totally reasonated with me! I wonder if it's an Asian thing? I know throwing out food was never an option when I was growing up. I mean (knock on wood) no one's gotten food poisoning in my house yet, so maybe it does work...lol

I have never made it myself :( I usually just buy it from my grocery store because they have a really good vegan one that I don't think I could ever replicate hahaha
@@Thevietvegan aw man🙄🥰 thats ok. I keep making it with dried bean curd sheets rehydrated and then wrapped tightly in parchment and foil and steam for about an hour. I know your creative skills would be able to make it better. I'd love for you to try it out🤩💝

Very interesting take. One thing, though - did you put Mirin directly into the cooked rice? You know Mirin has some alcohol. That is why it is boiled in Tare (たれ sauce).

Hey idk if it could be a possibility for other people, but I used to have really bad eczema and in the past couple years I’ve linked it to certain foods or products that trigger it. I rarely have break outs of it now!

I keep hearing about smoked tofu and want to try it, where can I get it? haven't seen it near the other tofu in my supermarket
I normally find it at my regular grocery store, but I haven't seen it much lately. I think there have been shortages since COVID :(

How do you find all of these vegan "fish" stuff and so forth. I have a such a hard time finding these things at my local Asian market. :( I'd buy the vegan shrimp but it's a whopping $9.99 USD for a bag -- that's too much. So I just stick with Seitan and Tofu. I feel so inadequate.
I just scour the grocery store for anything that could possibly vegan haha
