I’m trying to be as good a father to my son as my dad was to me but I feel like I’m failing. I wish he could have met his grandson and was here to give me advice now on my 8 year old son. I am sorry to hear that you lost him at such a young age. I recently lost my father this past May. Its a struggle each and everyday to know he isn't here anymore. It hurts so damn much.
I lost my beloved father (90) almost a year ago ,(July 2019) and whenever I listen to this song , his recollection comes to my soul. I lost job ,friends and relatives to be by his side over his last five years in this earthly experience...but that's nothing compared to the pleasure of seeing him happy and laughing his final days. Dad ,if you are still somewhere ,take for granted I still remember you,. You were my example of life and decency in this world....From Chile ,a long and narrow strip of land at the very end of South America a small and humble contribution to the beauty of this beautiful song lyrics.
Great art can do lots things imo including reminding us what’s important. I can speak for myself I get wrapped up in daily survival, always thinking at some indefinite point that’s always in the near future tense I will take pause, but it never, ever truly arrives. It sounds to me like maybe you were able to do that and every choice in life is a trade off. You will see your father again I believe that. Dios sea contigo.
