The MBCA Peachtree 2020 Concours d' Elegance is now in the rear view mirror. We had a beautiful clear cool day on Saturday, September 19th at the Lanier Raceplex.
David and Elizabeth shared with us their one owner 1985 500SL AMG. This car, given to Elizabeth by her husband on their 25th anniversary was purchased from AMG in Germany, shipped across the Atlantic to a dealer in the US where it was "restored" to as built condition after going through US customs. This included reinstalling items like the AMG steering wheel. Being a one owner car, David had complete paperwork on the original order from Mercedes, the AMG work orders and all of the work done by the dealer in the US to return it to European status after coming through US customs. This blue, on blue, on blue custom ordered AMG was a truly rare and unique entry. This car has all of the marks of a European spec import, features unavailable on US models in an era of changing safety rules, such as the slimmer and lighter bumpers. In addition it has AMG additions such as the rear spoiler and front air dam. We want to thank David and Elizabeth for sharing this wonderful, pristine 1985 500SL.
