In one mobile game, Gaston from Beauty and the Beast and The Evil Queen (in Hag Form) from Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs fall to their deaths just like in their respective movies!
Hey, wasn’t Clayton a nobody when you killed him in KH1? Tarzan kept going on about how he already lost his heart before you fight him alongside a heartless that seemed to be following his orders like Ansem SoD’s Guardian (the one with Terra’s heart inside). Pretty sure Clayton survives due to recompletion.
I feel like it’s interesting how people blame Disney for the series’ lack of death, considering how many of their individual movies exceed the kill count of this action series.
Yeah, Nomura clearly has a lot of creative liberty and is the main person responsible for the "deaths" being undone all the time and other such retcons.
Because modern Disney is a piece of shit, even in cases like Tangled Mother Gothel rapidly ages into dust. Compare that to Lion King where we see Mufasa fall to his death, we have multiple moments seeing the body and how it affects Simba. Gothel is an evil bitch, but she did raise Rapunzel even if it was for an ulterior motive, Rapunzel should've broken down crying like Gamora did after she thought she killed Thanos in Infinity War.
Aeba’s take about narrative death, (“let story beats affect you even if they’re undone a second later”) hit me and I realized I sometimes try to intellectualize scenes in games / movies more than I let myself feel them! That was a cool realization. Very neat video you two. Ok bye!
I liked that segment as death can also mean metaphorical changes. In Kingdom Hearts, it’s both literal and metaphorical as a character performs an arc and dies only to then be reborn into a new form and new personal change.

13:00 How Xion came back is identical to how Baymax came back in Big Hero 6. It’s explained in Re:Mind that Xion’s data was left behind in Vexen’s records. From there, they basically made a 2nd Xion model. And when she fought Axel at the keyblade graveyard, the memories from within both Roxas & Axel’s heart went into Xion, thus bringing her back. But I thought no one remember xion that why i confuse how is she in vixen file. Heck sora forget everything in castle oblivion isn’t that the same for xion.

Oogie Boogie looking totally dead and then just revealing he's absolutely not dead is canon, after his death in the original Nightmare Before Christmas he just kinda came back for the sequel video game (and had a final form that is legally distinct from but suspiciously like his last form in KH, it should be noted), after which he was killed, except in a way that doesn't really say he can't just come back a second time.

The way I've thought about it since DDD is this. Being turned into a heartless/nobody is completely separate from dying. On the contrary, it gives you an extra barrier to dying. To die, your complete self needs to die at once. Being turned into a heartless simply splits your being into pieces until those pieces are defeated, at which point you're recompleted and vulnerable. Kind of like Horcruxes but with the added bonus of an extra life. Any mad and strong willed tyrant ought to keep breaking their being apart to make themselves basically invulnerable.

Stellar video! This series has been going for so long, and people are still making incredible content like this. This is one of the best kh analysis videos, and the most unique and thought provoking
1) Your script regards Emblem Heartless as being the hearts that went into their creation, but I've long held a perspective that the Heartless and the heart are distinct, and that the former is shaped by the latter. Purebloods are just darkness, influenced by whatever factors, but still usually more basic in function and form, usually just beefed up in their intensities. Emblems, though, are sweepingly distinct, but I'd say they still "are just darkness", but here more personally shaped by the heart they contain, and that defeating the Heartless is not defeating that heart, but freeing it from its animate containment (whether the heart exists in a physically discrete space or some metaphysical absence). B) Took a while to get to it, but when discussing what happens to released hearts, I had long assumed they return to (the true) Kingdom Hearts, with the artificial one of the Organization intercepting hearts by that same mechanic. But that Nomura quote about hearts going into "suspension", grief, complicate it more, whydoncha?
This is where you must take word of god lore and ignore it, as there's not only no precedent, but lore directly showing the opposite. There's a certain point where less you retcon it in game, you cannot believe the writers there, as it doesn't fit with what they choose to show us.
You silly billy this is a Kingdom Hearts game no one else can die, and at the ending of the video you killed it/nailed it Regular Pat and her as well you ace the ending speech pretty well I do say so myself.
I think the Fox and the Hound was also about stopping the cycle of revenge, honestly, given that Amos ultimately decides to not kill Todd out of anger for Chief's -death- injury. It's just that the bear winds up being a fairly out of nowhere plot device that serves as a lesson for Amos rather than a character.
Always happy to see more Aeba content, especially when it’s part of a Regular Pat video! Great stuff, and hopefully the first of many team ups for you two!
Honestly, I actually think Square Enix would be more of the issue with death than Disney. I mean, just think of any Square Enix franchise and there is more than likely at least 1 character who "Dies" just to come back later. TWEWY is literally about dead people trying to fight to come back to life.

He was then recompleted where his body last was
Afaict, the only way disney is holding back this series is by preventing the games from doing anything original with the princess properties lest they risk the marketability of the precious brand. And even that is, on the franchise scale, a recent problem that really only hurt kh3.
Wow... I never thought I would be shedding tears at work from listening to a kh video about death ... That last quarter hit way too hard .. Oh and Regular Steve or whatever was ok too or something. Great Collab.
The only reason Goofy was knocked unconscious was to get Mickey separated from the group and to let Sora fight solo with FF characters in Hollow Bastion during the "Thousand Heartless" battle set-piece. Totally worth it. I forgive the games for bringing him back a minute later for the chance to fight alongside Cloud and Leon.
Regarding the Emblem, Ansem did mention he marked them and the way the text reads to me seems to imply the machine didn't originally mark them "The artificially and naturally created Heartless showed nearly identical traits. But the two types remain distinct for the purpose of the experiment. So, I will mark the ones that are created artificially." The "So, I will" seems to indicate to me he did a separate thing to mark all Emblem Heartless, which in headcanon I just assume he did a magic spell to mark all of them and getting transformed into one triggers the magic to mark you.
Vanitas joins back with Ventus after BBS. The vanitas that we fight is a version of him prior to the Keyblade graveyard fight in Ven’s story. As when Vanitas is defeated, he’s fused back into Ven’s heart as his station of awakening changes. He also gets a small bit of text in the KH character files that are exclusive to Japan, but have been translated. If anyone would like me to link it, I’ll be more than happy to.
As a Repliku fan, I honestly think there's a lot that coulda been done with him if they let him live. Like figuring out his own identity despite being a clone, connecting with Xion, Roxas, and reconnecting with Namine. I feel like killing him off a second time was kinda a slap in the face, and that if they were gonna go ahead and bring everyone back, they shoulda just stuck with him, too. Heck, Lea could've had to face the fact that he led this kid to his death. Lots of untapped potential. Alas!
People in the KH Community are always quick to blame Disney for everything. I honestly don't think Disney as a company really cares what Square does they just sign off on things. Like people want to say Disney forced Frozen into KH3 which is why it seems so rushed. But maybe getting Frozen approved took alot of time or maybe they changed ideas alot while making it. Like I cant see Disney being like add Frozen or even Tron Legacy as another example.
Nomura admitted in an interview that Disney executives had more involvement in KH3 compared to the other games in the series, and they interfered heavily with the Arendelle world. Nomura intended on Sora, Donald and Goofy fighting Elsa because the earlier drafts for *Frozen* had Elsa written as a villain. After *Frozen* was changed to make Elsa a secondary character and to have Anna be her sister, Disney didn't want Nomura villainizing their most popular character at that point.
@@dragonbornexpress5650 Yeah, I've seen Regular Pat talk about how the whole "Elsa was meant to be a villain" in KH3 is purely speculation because Disney had made Elsa a sympathetic character long before KH3 began development, which was the same year *Frozen* was released, back in 2013.
I think Repliku only stuck around cause of how much emotion and feeling he managed to have during CoM so when he ended up in the realm of darkness he was able to keep himself together. His goal being to protect Namine and in helping Riku he finally achieved his goal and peaced out.
this video reminds me that while i really enjoy kingdom hearts, it's also so fucking stupid lmao gotta love it really great video btw!! you two are fantastic together!
Really good video, that went in a direction completely different than expected. You certainly "killed it". PD: Did you know that, apparently, The Queen/Witch turned the Magic Mirror into an Unversed with that potion? They don't even elaborate how and why, but it's there. Messing with Vanitas' supposed exclusivity for absolutely no reason.
Okay, first off, this came out on my B-day...um...YES Second, I am estatic about this topic because I talk about this all the time on discord with some folks. When they bring up that 'Oh, Disney wouldn't let them kill off more characters' and I'm like, 'Bro, Disney literally kills at least 2-4 people per movie half the time' I think the Disney death that shocked me the most was probably Clayon. Tarzan TRIED to warn this man but his anger just drove him to keep cutting and cutting until he cut the wrong vine and...well, that's all folks. I remember gasping when I saw it for the first time when the lightning flashed and showed his hanging silhouette. Will stick with me forever. Anyway, good video! Nice jokes and good explanation's all around. Looking forward to seeing more from the both of you.
Pointing the “white finger” as Disney for not killing off characters doesn’t work for an OBVIOUS reason- all of the characters that officially die are Disney characters. True, it’s for continuity for the Disney story but that’s still the fact. Most deaths are disney deaths.
Given that Vexen is based off of the alchemist class from Final Fantasy I tend to interpret Xion's being, and Replicas in general, as something similar to a homunculus
22:07 In Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, there’s actually an after credits scene that heavily implies Davy Jones’ return. So there’s that.

As when Vanitas is defeated, he’s fused back into Ven’s heart as his station of awakening changes. He also gets a small bit of text in the KH character files that are exclusive to Japan, but have been translated. If anyone would like me to link it, I’ll be more than happy to.
He returns to a Formless Darkness.
King Pat. Great video and will be sure to check out Aeba’s vids
This is one of my favorite videos on the channel.
@@AluminumFusion22 Less of the executives, more of the individual teams behind each film; The rest has no concrete evidence to support.
I was crying at the end when talking about Grief. It was so poignant and wonderful.
So excited to watch this
this was such a great video! you two should collab more often. i would go subscribe to aeba if I wasn't already subscribed to her
Awesome video as always! Loved the editing in this one :D
I think Repliku only stuck around cause of how much emotion and feeling he managed to have during CoM so when he ended up in the realm of darkness he was able to keep himself together. His goal being to protect Namine and in helping Riku he finally achieved his goal and peaced out.
Damn that was amazing!!!
this video reminds me that while i really enjoy kingdom hearts, it's also so fucking stupid lmao gotta love it
really great video btw!! you two are fantastic together!
This man’s content is next level, so bingeable 🙌🏾
Yay, Treasure Planet clips :D
Okay, first off, this came out on my B-day...um...YES
Second, I am estatic about this topic because I talk about this all the time on discord with some folks. When they bring up that 'Oh, Disney wouldn't let them kill off more characters' and I'm like, 'Bro, Disney literally kills at least 2-4 people per movie half the time'
I think the Disney death that shocked me the most was probably Clayon.
OK HOLD ON THIS THE BEST CROSSOVER???
Pointing the “white finger” as Disney for not killing off characters doesn’t work for an OBVIOUS reason- all of the characters that officially die are Disney characters. True, it’s for continuity for the Disney story but that’s still the fact. Most deaths are disney deaths.
aeba you got me when you said "fiancé-divorcé-fiancé Saix"
Given that Vexen is based off of the alchemist class from Final Fantasy I tend to interpret Xion's being, and Replicas in general, as something similar to a homunculus
22:07 In Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, there’s actually an after credits scene that heavily implies Davy Jones’ return.
So there’s that.
