In one mobile game, Gaston from Beauty and the Beast and The Evil Queen (in Hag Form) from Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs fall to their deaths just like in their respective movies!
Hey, wasn’t Clayton a nobody when you killed him in KH1? Tarzan kept going on about how he already lost his heart before you fight him alongside a heartless that seemed to be following his orders like Ansem SoD’s Guardian (the one with Terra’s heart inside). Pretty sure Clayton survives due to recompletion.
I feel like it’s interesting how people blame Disney for the series’ lack of death, considering how many of their individual movies exceed the kill count of this action series.
Yeah, Nomura clearly has a lot of creative liberty and is the main person responsible for the "deaths" being undone all the time and other such retcons.
Because modern Disney is a piece of shit, even in cases like Tangled Mother Gothel rapidly ages into dust. Compare that to Lion King where we see Mufasa fall to his death, we have multiple moments seeing the body and how it affects Simba. Gothel is an evil bitch, but she did raise Rapunzel even if it was for an ulterior motive, Rapunzel should've broken down crying like Gamora did after she thought she killed Thanos in Infinity War.
13:00 How Xion came back is identical to how Baymax came back in Big Hero 6. It’s explained in Re:Mind that Xion’s data was left behind in Vexen’s records. From there, they basically made a 2nd Xion model. And when she fought Axel at the keyblade graveyard, the memories from within both Roxas & Axel’s heart went into Xion, thus bringing her back. Saix intentionally saying Axel and Roxas’s name helped this too.
But I thought no one remember xion that why i confuse how is she in vixen file. Heck sora forget everything in castle oblivion isn’t that the same for xion.
@@om58499 Just because everyone forgot who she was, that doesn’t mean Xion’s research data wouldn’t be in Vexen’s files. The valuables a person leaves behind will still exist even if the person in question was forgotten. The same goes for real life.

I know it's a stupid kingdom hearts video and I'm sitting here playing kh3 at 6 in the morning worrying about stupid stuff, but it really is a special world we live in.
Honestly, I actually think Square Enix would be more of the issue with death than Disney. I mean, just think of any Square Enix franchise and there is more than likely at least 1 character who "Dies" just to come back later. TWEWY is literally about dead people trying to fight to come back to life.
this video reminds me that while i really enjoy kingdom hearts, it's also so fucking stupid lmao gotta love it really great video btw!! you two are fantastic together!
I think the Fox and the Hound was also about stopping the cycle of revenge, honestly, given that Amos ultimately decides to not kill Todd out of anger for Chief's -death- injury. It's just that the bear winds up being a fairly out of nowhere plot device that serves as a lesson for Amos rather than a character.
Afaict, the only way disney is holding back this series is by preventing the games from doing anything original with the princess properties lest they risk the marketability of the precious brand. And even that is, on the franchise scale, a recent problem that really only hurt kh3.
Always happy to see more Aeba content, especially when it’s part of a Regular Pat video! Great stuff, and hopefully the first of many team ups for you two!
The sheer amount of work you guys put into videos like this amazes me I love your content it makes me think about not just kh but every media I encounter in a more analytical way and it makes me so excited to come up with a theory or see that something I've theorized about pop up in one of your videos!
As a Repliku fan, I honestly think there's a lot that coulda been done with him if they let him live. Like figuring out his own identity despite being a clone, connecting with Xion, Roxas, and reconnecting with Namine. I feel like killing him off a second time was kinda a slap in the face, and that if they were gonna go ahead and bring everyone back, they shoulda just stuck with him, too. Heck, Lea could've had to face the fact that he led this kid to his death. Lots of untapped potential. Alas!
Pointing the “white finger” as Disney for not killing off characters doesn’t work for an OBVIOUS reason- all of the characters that officially die are Disney characters. True, it’s for continuity for the Disney story but that’s still the fact. Most deaths are disney deaths.
Wow... I never thought I would be shedding tears at work from listening to a kh video about death ... That last quarter hit way too hard .. Oh and Regular Steve or whatever was ok too or something. Great Collab.
24:50 I know when I first saw that scene of Sora losing his heart in 2002, I felt like crying. _Especially_ when Donald started yelling for Sora to come back. 32:22 ...Also, that was pretty cute the way she said that, ngl
That thing about letting yourself feel the story beats was an excellent point. Even though I know it's immediately undone, that part where Sora stabs himself in kh1 still hits me emotionally every time. Such a beautiful moment of self-sacrifice and loss and love and suspense all at once regardless of what comes after. Thank you. Stay well out there everybody, and God bless you friends! :)
The only reason Goofy was knocked unconscious was to get Mickey separated from the group and to let Sora fight solo with FF characters in Hollow Bastion during the "Thousand Heartless" battle set-piece. Totally worth it. I forgive the games for bringing him back a minute later for the chance to fight alongside Cloud and Leon.
Regarding the Emblem, Ansem did mention he marked them and the way the text reads to me seems to imply the machine didn't originally mark them "The artificially and naturally created Heartless showed nearly identical traits. But the two types remain distinct for the purpose of the experiment. So, I will mark the ones that are created artificially." The "So, I will" seems to indicate to me he did a separate thing to mark all Emblem Heartless, which in headcanon I just assume he did a magic spell to mark all of them and getting transformed into one triggers the magic to mark you.
I think Repliku only stuck around cause of how much emotion and feeling he managed to have during CoM so when he ended up in the realm of darkness he was able to keep himself together. His goal being to protect Namine and in helping Riku he finally achieved his goal and peaced out.
Really good video, that went in a direction completely different than expected. You certainly "killed it". PD: Did you know that, apparently, The Queen/Witch turned the Magic Mirror into an Unversed with that potion? They don't even elaborate how and why, but it's there. Messing with Vanitas' supposed exclusivity for absolutely no reason.
9:45 It’s my headcanon now that Travis the Traverse Town NPC’s heart was released but sora, since Kingdom Hearts (from two) hadn’t yet been started, and his nobody was destroyed by one of the org members in one of those missions where you have to kill a crap ton of dusks. He was then recompleted where his body last was
Here two years later and Strelitzia is objectively alive. Vanitas is also one of the immortal darknesses that can't die so I guess this lovable fuckfest of a series is just going to get more and more convoluted when it comes to death lmao
Wow! What a great video! Definitely one of the best Regular Pat videos about a KH five letter topic that runs about 50 minutes🤣 Okay, let me gush about this video now! There is so much research and thought put into this video! (I guess you could call yourself one of the apprentices, research is what you do, yes). I love that you really defined what death is and isn’t in the context of the game. I applaud you for making what is a convoluted concept and boiling into something digestible👏 I especially love that you compiled all of the canon deaths in the series! I don’t know if I’m surprised that there’s so few or surprised that there’s so many. It makes me wonder if Ienzo’s parents in BBS are included as characters that are dead in the series, even if we have never seen them. Probably not🤷♀️ This video really makes me wonder what the narrative purpose of death is in the KH series. Like the Goofy fake out. We know he can’t actually die - it’s Goofy - so why unalive him for a few seconds? Drama? I feel like there’s better ways of expressing drama. And that becomes even more obvious for the nobodies in 3, their deaths just don’t have the same weight. We as the audience and the characters in the game know they’re going to be recompleted so I wonder why it’s played off as so emotional. I’m definitely going to be critically thinking about how death is a tool for story telling the next time I boot up the game🤔 Not to mention that I am now going to binge all of Aeba‘s videos. I adore her speaking style and humor just from this video. Thank you for introducing me to a new KH channel! (Also, their takes on Isa are so valid)💖 I just watched their kingdom hearts fancast video and the second that she said Axel should be portrayed as gay and black I immediately subscribed. Sorry Pat, I have a new favorite channel💅 Also #fuckgurgi I hate that I even had to look at him for 0.7 seconds😤 This truly is a top tier video that I can’t wait to watch over and over again! The wait (and the amount of work you obviously put in) was 100% worth it! Last thing YOUR HAIR IN THE OUTRO!? WHEN DID YOU DYE IT BLACK!?
i would also like to point out, that the TWEWY group from KHDDD, yeah they're dead too, that's the whole storyline from twewy they died and are playing the reaper's game to get a secone chance at life, in which they all gave up something important as an entry fee and wouls get it back if they won, but it and them would be erased if they lost, Shiki's entry fee was her appearance, Neku was his memories, Beat's was the memories of him from his sister, rhyme. and Rhyme is unknown because she isn't a playable character in the game and gets eaten by a noise shark halfway through the first week so that probably transfers over to the KH. in terms of how they died, Joshua has been running the game and so he isn't playing, nor do we know how he did die, but he did at some point, Beat ran out after a fight with his parents, rhyme went after them, And a car came out of nowhere, beat failed to pish rhyme out of the way in time and both got hit by it. Shiki seemingly died in an accident, i assume a car accident, but we only hear "an accident" and joshua shot neku, like with a gun twice then after that a separate character, named Coco shot Neku a third time after he came back to life, then joshua teleported him to a different city. neku should invest in a bulletproof vest after getting shot on 3 seperate occasions
Vanitas joins back with Ventus after BBS. The vanitas that we fight is a version of him prior to the Keyblade graveyard fight in Ven’s story. As when Vanitas is defeated, he’s fused back into Ven’s heart as his station of awakening changes. He also gets a small bit of text in the KH character files that are exclusive to Japan, but have been translated. If anyone would like me to link it, I’ll be more than happy to.
Given that Vexen is based off of the alchemist class from Final Fantasy I tend to interpret Xion's being, and Replicas in general, as something similar to a homunculus
People in the KH Community are always quick to blame Disney for everything. I honestly don't think Disney as a company really cares what Square does they just sign off on things. Like people want to say Disney forced Frozen into KH3 which is why it seems so rushed. But maybe getting Frozen approved took alot of time or maybe they changed ideas alot while making it. Like I cant see Disney being like add Frozen or even Tron Legacy as another example.
Nomura admitted in an interview that Disney executives had more involvement in KH3 compared to the other games in the series, and they interfered heavily with the Arendelle world. Nomura intended on Sora, Donald and Goofy fighting Elsa because the earlier drafts for *Frozen* had Elsa written as a villain. After *Frozen* was changed to make Elsa a secondary character and to have Anna be her sister, Disney didn't want Nomura villainizing their most popular character at that point.
@@dragonbornexpress5650 Yeah, I've seen Regular Pat talk about how the whole "Elsa was meant to be a villain" in KH3 is purely speculation because Disney had made Elsa a sympathetic character long before KH3 began development, which was the same year *Frozen* was released, back in 2013.
Something I realy like about Disney villain deaths is that its usually the villains fault on the end. Gaston stabs beast despite beast no longer being a threat and beasts reeling back causes him to fall. Frolo gets saved by Quasimodo then immediately tries to kill him but his weight causes the gargoyle he was standing on to break under him. Clayton was caight in vines and sace from falling to his death the immediately starts to wildly slash around him to attack Tarzan causing the vines to snap leaving him to hang as the vibe around his neck snaps it. These are all villains who got a second chance but was to caught up in their villainy to take that chance.

I know it's a stupid kingdom hearts video and I'm sitting here playing kh3 at 6 in the morning worrying about stupid stuff, but it really is a special world we live in.
Travis' will to make good on those accessory shop deals was strong enough to send his Nobody back inside with a friendly face and zero a-hyucks given.
DARE I SAY this is the best one yet?? YES. I DO! Good as hell. Gaston's footstance is wack, thank you mr. pat and aeba for this bitchin vid!
I'll admit with the big-ass diatribe on Disney's portrayal of death, I forgot this was a KH video lol.
Oh Cool!! I love Aeba's content, it's quickly become one of my favorite KH channels.
Honestly, I actually think Square Enix would be more of the issue with death than Disney. I mean, just think of any Square Enix franchise and there is more than likely at least 1 character who "Dies" just to come back later. TWEWY is literally about dead people trying to fight to come back to life.
this video reminds me that while i really enjoy kingdom hearts, it's also so fucking stupid lmao gotta love it
really great video btw!! you two are fantastic together!
I still clap/quote Aeba's "Let. Story. Beats. Affect you." like once a week lol
Really it's up to the individual teams behind each film.
Always happy to see more Aeba content, especially when it’s part of a Regular Pat video! Great stuff, and hopefully the first of many team ups for you two!
The “that’s a weird name” at 7:58 legitimately made me choke on my pizza.
killin me with these incredibles clips around 29 min in, lmfao
100% credit to Aeba for that, she did the tracking for me because I'm a baby
this was amazing
The sheer amount of work you guys put into videos like this amazes me I love your content it makes me think about not just kh but every media I encounter in a more analytical way and it makes me so excited to come up with a theory or see that something I've theorized about pop up in one of your videos!
“If I had a heart this would be where I die” got me
23:01 made me realize this video came out before the KH4 trailer haha
i noticed that too, was looking for this exact comment
Idk how i ended up here but I'm glad to have found and watched this video
What does it mean that immediately after the section on Heartless, an ad popped up featuring Kevin ... Hart? 🤔
Alas!
This was delightful. Thank you both!
Pointing the “white finger” as Disney for not killing off characters doesn’t work for an OBVIOUS reason- all of the characters that officially die are Disney characters. True, it’s for continuity for the Disney story but that’s still the fact. Most deaths are disney deaths.
Woody roast on Young xehanort is the closest thing to a death in the entire franchise
I was crying at the end when talking about Grief. It was so poignant and wonderful.
I love this collab!! Nice to meet you Aeba! 🗝️💖
This basically became a completely different video by the halfway point
Aeba almost made me cry when she talked about death in Disney movies .
I knew this was gonna be a killer video (pun intended) as soon as I heard the intro
Regarding the Emblem, Ansem did mention he marked them and the way the text reads to me seems to imply the machine didn't originally mark them
"The artificially and naturally created Heartless showed nearly identical traits. But the two types remain distinct for the purpose of the experiment. So, I will mark the ones that are created artificially."
The "So, I will" seems to indicate to me he did a separate thing to mark all Emblem Heartless, which in headcanon I just assume he did a magic spell to mark all of them and getting transformed into one triggers the magic to mark you.
Woah, this was a great video Pat, well done!
Another lovely video thank you
23:00
this aged a bit too well…
So did this. 18:12
22:54 This aged well. Ain’t it isn’t even a joke.
Excellent Collab. Hearing about Disney's relationship with death through the eras of films was super interesting.
I think Repliku only stuck around cause of how much emotion and feeling he managed to have during CoM so when he ended up in the realm of darkness he was able to keep himself together. His goal being to protect Namine and in helping Riku he finally achieved his goal and peaced out.
Thank you for making this, Kingdom Hearts is really deep to me lol
Really good video, that went in a direction completely different than expected. You certainly "killed it".
PD: Did you know that, apparently, The Queen/Witch turned the Magic Mirror into an Unversed with that potion? They don't even elaborate how and why, but it's there. Messing with Vanitas' supposed exclusivity for absolutely no reason.
i envy your ability to come up with good video essay topics
9:45 It’s my headcanon now that Travis the Traverse Town NPC’s heart was released but sora, since Kingdom Hearts (from two) hadn’t yet been started, and his nobody was destroyed by one of the org members in one of those missions where you have to kill a crap ton of dusks. He was then recompleted where his body last was
Wow this was fantastic and I’m definitely gonna go check out her channel
aeba you got me when you said "fiancé-divorcé-fiancé Saix"
Pat this is a great video as always but your editing has evolved to the next level! Keep up the good work
this was such a great video! you two should collab more often. i would go subscribe to aeba if I wasn't already subscribed to her
Here two years later and Strelitzia is objectively alive. Vanitas is also one of the immortal darknesses that can't die so I guess this lovable fuckfest of a series is just going to get more and more convoluted when it comes to death lmao
Wow! What a great video! Definitely one of the best Regular Pat videos about a KH five letter topic that runs about 50 minutes🤣
Okay, let me gush about this video now! There is so much research and thought put into this video! (I guess you could call yourself one of the apprentices, research is what you do, yes). I love that you really defined what death is and isn’t in the context of the game. I applaud you for making what is a convoluted concept and boiling into something digestible👏
I especially love that you compiled all of the canon deaths in the series! I don’t know if I’m surprised that there’s so few or surprised that there’s so many. It makes me wonder if Ienzo’s parents in BBS are included as characters that are dead in the series, even if we have never seen them. Probably not🤷♀️
This video really makes me wonder what the narrative purpose of death is in the KH series. I’m definitely going to be critically thinking about how death is a tool for story telling the next time I boot up the game🤔
Not to mention that I am now going to binge all of Aeba‘s videos. I adore her speaking style and humor just from this video. Thank you for introducing me to a new KH channel! (Also, their takes on Isa are so valid)💖 I just watched their kingdom hearts fancast video and the second that she said Axel should be portrayed as gay and black I immediately subscribed. Sorry Pat, I have a new favorite channel💅
Also #fuckgurgi I hate that I even had to look at him for 0.7 seconds😤
This truly is a top tier video that I can’t wait to watch over and over again! The wait (and the amount of work you obviously put in) was 100% worth it!
Last thing YOUR HAIR IN THE OUTRO!? WHEN DID YOU DYE IT BLACK!?
get his regular ass 💅💅💅💅
The king and queen of UA-cam have returned.
Thank you!! Pat's a very good Queen 👑
@@Aeba wait a minute
Thank god Aeba let me know I’m alive. I was worried for a sec!
Damn that was amazing!!!
This is one of my favorite videos on the channel.
i would also like to point out, that the TWEWY group from KHDDD, yeah they're dead too, that's the whole storyline from twewy they died and are playing the reaper's game to get a secone chance at life, in which they all gave up something important as an entry fee and wouls get it back if they won, but it and them would be erased if they lost, Shiki's entry fee was her appearance, Neku was his memories, Beat's was the memories of him from his sister, rhyme. and Rhyme is unknown because she isn't a playable character in the game and gets eaten by a noise shark halfway through the first week so that probably transfers over to the KH. in terms of how they died, Joshua has been running the game and so he isn't playing, nor do we know how he did die, but he did at some point, Beat ran out after a fight with his parents, rhyme went after them, And a car came out of nowhere, beat failed to pish rhyme out of the way in time and both got hit by it. Shiki seemingly died in an accident, i assume a car accident, but we only hear "an accident" and joshua shot neku, like with a gun
twice
then after that a separate character, named Coco shot Neku a third time after he came back to life, then joshua teleported him to a different city.
neku should invest in a bulletproof vest after getting shot on 3 seperate occasions
He returns to a Formless Darkness.
Given that Vexen is based off of the alchemist class from Final Fantasy I tend to interpret Xion's being, and Replicas in general, as something similar to a homunculus
This was a fantastic analysis!!
@@AluminumFusion22 Less of the executives, more of the individual teams behind each film; The rest has no concrete evidence to support.
