Different HIV tests are available. One of the most common tests involve the detection of antibodies against HIV through ELISA (they are normally quite specific but only start to work 2 months after the infection as the body needs to produce antibodies first). There is also a less specific test against a HIV surface protein (so that should be a Western Blot but I have to check that). And lastly (but less common) you can also directly detect the RNA. I have a question. I had exposure four month ago, and in four weeks I stated showing symptoms and I visits an hospital and was told I had the virus. I have never taken any medication though for now the only symptoms I experience is a lit bit memory loss, visits the loo more often. No headache, night sweats, rushes or fever ! Few days ago, in my fourth moth of exposure, I went for three types of test kits including oral testing and the result was negative. The doctor said I don’t have it but I told her am showing some aspect of the symptoms. Please I need clarification on this !

Hey! Sorry for my late response. You can find a link with some tips regarding what to do if a partner has HIV (if you do not want to click links try googling "CDC HIV partner positive") . If you stick to these rules you can avoid transmitting HIV to the other person. A bonus question - why was the presence of reverse transcriptase taken as evidence of the presence of an exogenous retrovirus when it's known to be present in every cell?

It seems like genetically modifying one's own immune cells would provide the perfect donor. I think doing so in vivo would be dangerous. But pulling cells from the blood, modifying them, then reintroducing them after purging the current immune system would be safer. It still sounds really expensive and challenging. If it could be made safe and affordable it might be an excellent procedure for many autoimmune diseases. I would do it.

For example someone with a slow metabolism and realy obese can be made slim with a fast metabolism. and someone very thin with a fast metabolism obese or like a strongman. Or making humans posses the strength of gorilla's, tigers or certain insects alowing humans to lift up to 100X their own bodyweight.
