I've read some comments like "Blaze was not good enough to replace Bruce" and some negative shit like that around UA-cam. And I think, it is easy to lament "the only Bruce tune that Blaze could sing well" and "Bruce is the best" etc. But I think how difficult must have been to step into these shoes of being a frontman of Iron Maiden, how difficult challenge it must be for an individual, to fulfil the expectations of the entire metal world and millions of fans to support an monster establishment of metal music what Iron Maiden certainly is? Blaze Bailey did two excellent records with Maiden, he toured with Maiden ( I saw them with Blaze in Ljubljana, Slovenia at Tivoli hall and the concert was amazing), he spent time in studio with them, and he did excellent job. I really admire Bailey for doing this properly. And he really had a touch with the audience, he knew how to pump up the crowd. Just imagine, that no matter how good singer you are, what you have to confront when you need to step up in front of the audience, with mic in your hand and sing those lines that "belong" to Mr. Dickinson? It must be an epic shit-in-the-pants situation and this man, Blaze Bailey, challenged that and won. So screw all the trolls and negative people who just complain how Bruce was better and Blaze cannot sing. Hail! :)
punkfloyd I completely agree, I respect and admire him tremendously for even trying, stepping in with a totally different stage presence and voice could not have been easy, in any way, especially as they wanted him to sing the classics in the original key. He tried to hard to reach theese high notes that was impossible for his range, giving him health issues to that fact....I really love his voice and even if he got massive critic during his Maiden time, he came out of it stronger than ever before....the strange thing is, that even if he was vastly underrated we still hear echoes of this era in Maidens later music.....
He still tours now and, while it may not be on an Iron Maiden level, anyone I know who has seen him live comes away from the show satisfied. So at least he's still getting credit he deserves as a performer. I don't think Blaze was what was wrong with X Factor. I think it's the production and the style of writing. In one example Blaze and Janick wrote a song that wouldn't have been out of place on the early Maiden albums in Man On The Edge but the stripped back guitar sound to a barely overdrive sound took a way from the more heavy metal sound that it deserved. In others there's a slow build up that takes away from the meat of the song by being too long and then it's repeated in the outro. I thought that album was boring when it first came out but it grew on me and I listen to it fairly regularly now.
OUTSTANDING....I love this incredible mesmerizing song, gorgeous guitar harmonies, the truth and depth of the lyrics and the interpretation by Blaze is to good to be true, but this amazing singer makes the song rise to the point of MAGIC....all I can say is BRAVO BLAZE !!

Después de Maiden, Bruce saco 4 discos como solista, de los cuales, el ultimo fue muy popular y elogiado en el underground metalero mundial (The chemical Wedding (aunque en lo personal no es de mis favoritos de sus discos en solitario)). NOTA aclaratoria: Me gusta mucho la era Blaze, en especial el X Factor, uno de mis discos favoritos de Maiden.

Just imagine if Silicone Messiah and Tenth Dimension had been released as Maiden albums they would have probably been huge hits (not that they weren't as Blaze solo works). I have all of Blaze's solo discs and have to say that he just keeps getting better and better both lyrically and musically his last disc Promise And Terror is amazing and his last live album The Night That Wouldn't die contains a stunning version of Lord Of The Flies and a crushing version of Edge Of Darkness
Still my favourite period of Maiden. Maybe that's just because this was the lineup they had when I first got into the band, but the concert I saw on the Virtual XI tour still ranks as one of my best ever.

Blaze has a much MUCH more powerful voice than Bruce. but bruce has a bigger Range of notes. I'd love to hear Blaze singing some stuff off a matter of life and death - i think his voice would really suit that!

Maiden's reunion albums are more mature than ever and has a progressive rock edge to them which is awesome. 2000's Maiden is far better than 1990's Maiden and that's not because of Bruce-Blaze thing. It's about creativity. I loved Blaze and The X Factor is an amazing album but that's not the issue. I'm glad Bruce is back because that also meant that Adrian was back. They're better than ever as a group of musicians.

G what? A G can be as high or as low as you want. I am guessing you mean in the first few octaves as Blaze is a base and can really sound powerful in the low register. But Bruce is the tenor so he is better when it comes to high notes.

Credit to the guy for trying, but Blaze literally had zero voice controle, which made it hard for him to even sings his own songs on a decent level when it came to playing live :/
Michael Holmgaard During the first concerts with Blaze, he really did it great, but destroying his voice night after night trying to sing the Bruce era songs properly, it ended up really bad for the rest of his career with maiden (live) in the studio he was great and his concerts since 2000 can confirm it

Some Maiden songs there is not needed high screams Blazes lower tone and darker gloomy sound fits better giving good mood.

Yo sigo prefieriendo alversión de Bruce. Aunque sea una voza más aguda la rasga más y le da más sensación de dolor/miedo.
Esta canción encajo bien en blaze porque el ritmo es mas lento muy similares a las del x factor

G what? A G can be as high or as low as you want. I am guessing you mean in the first few octaves as Blaze is a base and can really sound powerful in the low register. But Bruce is the tenor so he is better when it comes to high notes.

Blaze no tiene mas potencia vocal que Bruce , Blaze es un gran vocalista pero no tiene el rango vocal de Bruce y tampoco imprimio su estilo en las canciones de Bruce y Paul ,lo hizo pero no lo suficiente creo que por eso no fue aceptado como reemplazante de Bruce
Nessa época eu achei que o maiden, fosse acabar...blaze muito fraco, para ser o vocal do maiden. Em alguns shows ia bem, em outros era bem ruim, não tinha a força do vocal do bruce, pra aguentar tanto tempo na estrada cantando.

+Simo Bar He's also struggling to stay in tune. Tbh I don't think I ever saw a live performance of him where he wasn't off key.
Blaze had some concert where he was struggling with allergies and his voice wasn't at his best, but he still did his job...
I think Blaze sings it way better than Bruce, it's just more suited to his vocal style.
Its less acrobatic and deep voice of Blaze fits perfectly..this one is too low for Bruces higher register..

Look, it's fine if you like Blaze style better, but to say he was a good singer, and sings this better than Bruce.... it's laughable! Credit to the guy for trying, but Blaze literally had zero voice controle, which made it hard for him to even sings his own songs on a decent level when it came to playing live :/

Michael Holmgaard During the first concerts with Blaze, he really did it great, but destroying his voice night after night trying to sing the Bruce era songs properly, it ended up really bad for the rest of his career with maiden (live) in the studio he was great and his concerts since 2000 can confirm it

I love Maiden with Blaze but he is so pity here((
