- Join me on an afternoon trip to the Kentucky river, first we target bluegill and mooneye with an ultralight rod along the rock bluffs. As the sun sets we set up for a Flathead catfish. I really enjoyed this trip and I hope you do as well. Thank you all for watching and god bless

I think people would just enjoy seeing fish caught, doesn’t matter the species. Sometimes, just fishing for bait is the best part.
Just my opinion.
Make sure Landon is with you, I’m sure he hates missing out.
I love it.. Richard Gene the fishing machine.....
Thank you for watching,
I have watched all of Richard genes videos over and over again. They never get old, he is great.
What park of kentucky u from I'd like to get out on a big cat on the ohio man Id pay or what ever it take biggest fish I ever caught on the ohio is 30 pound I want a monster
You are correct...it's not always about "the big fish". Just being on the water and wetting a line, catch or not, is the peace of mind. Good for the soul.
Fish for whatever you want. You have a good channel and I think people enjoy a family man sharing it with his son.
You seem like a great dude. Thanks for sharing your fishing experiences and your demeanor.
I agree. You just can’t beat a good ole Flattie. Big or small. Enjoy your channel. Thanks for sharing.
I love it ,, so glad to see some of the big guys doing some fishing like we all grew up on ,,thanks for sharing Hagen
I love that bluegill fishing with ultralights
Yes I would definitely love to see a bluegill fishing video
I'm with you, love bream fishing. I bet people would love to see you and Landon on a good bream bed. Nice video.
Love the video Hagen and God bless you
Them some nice Mooneye's Hagen.
GOD Bless you sir.
I went bluegill fishing today needed some for the bait tank….caught about 30 big ones on my ultralight, it was a absolute blast
Looked like an awesome spot to spend the day fishing!
Thank you for watching, I really enjoyed this trip👍
Great video, keep em coming, always enjoy watching.
Thank you
That’s an ideal day of fishing in my book
Great video, just fishing for bait can be loads of fun.
Also love that little boat that's perfect
Can I make a suggestion?? Yes I know, I have a bit more sunlight, down here in New Mexico, to work with lol, but the guys at the Bureau of Land Management suggested the (briefcase style) solar charger from Harbor freight. I'm kinda cheap, and ONLY use it when trolling, so I didn't purchase the control module that auto shuts off power when the battery is full, but my 12v battery NEVER runs out of power now. Maybe an $80.00 investment you might like to try out.
Enjoy your vids, keep it up. And thanks for sharing your adventures
Sure go for the pan fish video. Would nit mind seeing you slaying them too. Love the channel from watts bar
I think you should do a panfish video and you be Landon's camera man. We just like watching y'all catch fish. My girl's like to watch him reel them in.
That area is perfect for fish. As you described it
That looks like a lot of fun
Thanks for sharing Hagen, I just took my wife and little girl down to Oregon Fishing ramp on the Kentucky River this weekend I hadn’t been there for sometime and enjoyed the peaceful quite and beauty of the old river. Thank you for all of your Catfishing tips hope you and Landon keep tight lines and may God Bless Steve Milligan
Yes!!! Panfish video!!
i love those little Shakespeare's. ive used them for yrs
Me to, can’t beat them for the price, thanks for watching 👍
Go fishing when you can cause it's good fur ya...ya damn right!!
Light tackle fishing is great to watch, regardless of species. I truly enjoyed this one!! An ultralight stays in my work truck at all times, and I’ve tested it’s limits more than once!!! I’d LOVE to see y’all fishing for different things. Variety is a great thing. Bon peche my friend!!!!!
You should use a fly rod when catching bait fish like this if you haven’t before. It makes it even more fun.
Hey brother anytime you can get to the water sit back and catch some fish is an awesome time... Good video Hagen i enjoyed it
A bluegill video would be great. Can't believe you didn't keep that flathead, those are great eating.
Love your videos makes me miss down south 🎣
Richard gene the fishing machine 😆
Love to see you do a pan fish catch and cook

Thanks for all the great info and for keeping me sane through out this past winter. Was laid up for a bit and came across your channel, thanks again brother.
Thank you very much for watching
Check out the root beer colored trout magnets. They imitate a small night crawler fairly well.
I would watch any video you do they’re entertaining and educational so do a pan fish video please
Usually for both blues and flatheads-- mooneye are my number one bait of choice hagen👍
Thanks for watching Tim 👍
@@hagengrubbsfishing i try not to miss any of your high quality fishing excursions ❤️
I miss watching yours, hopefully I will see more soon
@@hagengrubbsfishing i should have one "scary river adventure" coming out soon! Thanks buddy 👍
Thanks il be looking forward to it.
Awesome video as always!!
Great video. I love fishing for catfish but going out on my kayak and fishing for crappie and other panfish is great time for sure. I'm sure most of your viewers would love to see a panfish or Bass video.
Awesome video! Really enjoyed, would love to see you fish for other species like you mentioned. Love the job boat set up to that is sweet!
It's really enjoying to watch videos like this. Especially when I do it too. Those mooneye are feisty. They swim in the small river near my house. Always had an issue trying to catch em, but now I know what to try.
Take me with you! I live in Southern Indiana and would like to learn river fishing from a pro like yourself!
I’m not much of a pro lol thank you for watching
It IS good fer ya!
Thanks for the great video!
I'm gonna look for them lil, split tail grubs. Good luck fishing.
When was this video actually shot, not just posted? It would be cool to know the weather/ water conditions as well. Thanks for the real life videos.
Bluegill fishin is one my faves other than cats an long nose gar ... plus they good eatin
You put out awesome content!! Love all your videos.
What a beautiful river!
It is beautiful, looks like a Flathead honey hole but it’s a gar hole lol, thanks for watching man 👍
Nice video brother.... love those flathead......
de " TOTO FISH " en Europe . agréable la pêche en bateau . bon spot . A+
Wewew amazing👍👍
Richard gene the fishing machine the goat for your a good good channel good vid
Thank you
Looks like a great time fishing and catching. My wife and I often do a day of bluegill fishing, keeping the smaller than eater size for bait that night or the next day.
In my opinion, bluegill are the best tasting fish to fry up.
Another thing all my people are from Kentucky they moved up here years ago to make a good living jobs I've fished since I could walk and fished from lake Erie down to reelfoot both awesome but that little shovelhead you caught is the best eating fish that swims fact
Always love the videos..
I would watch, and like, any panfish video you post. I watch your videos regardless of species. Thumbs up!
Never seen mooneye before. Now I know what they look like
I haven't fished the Kentucky river yet. The Ohio keeps me distracted lol.
Nice video Hagen. Hitting the KY tomorrow morning for cats
Very nice video Sir!
Got to have t h em Mooneyes !
I'm a new sub and I like your videos, I watch CFD all the time and I liked when you gave him all them skipjack and made the rod holders that was pretty alright and I think it's awesome you get your son involved mine hates fishing. Keep up the good work, look forward to the next video
Good job🤙🤙🤙
I'd try the panfish video. Never know until you try. Keep living the dream 👊
Try the mini magnets out they’re awesome I tie it as a dropper and 12 inches below a regular trout magnet and I catch 2 at a time a lot
Great video
What species is that mooneye a herring? That Richard gene is a trip. Great fishermen ! Love your father and son videos excellent!!!!
shad i think .. not many of em in SC
Do a bluegill show!
Thanks for the input, I’m actually in the process of editing a panfish video right now, thank you very much for watching
Hagen I heard you listening to Richard Gene also....you are in good company
First time watching your channel I watch a lot of catfish Dave he spoke of you a few times thought I would check out your channel also..
I love your channel keep moving on brother I like it
It would go over great a panfish show
Funny your watching Richard gene on your jon boat and I'm watching you on mine
Andy would be cool if you did some micro fishing video. bluegills
And perch are really fun. On ultralight action rods .
Dude come out to yermo California there this little pond that's full of hundreds of blue gill from different sizes
Exactly what is a moon eye looks kinda like a shad from here in north ga what it looks like
A lot of people call them tooth herring but from what I’ve read they aren’t in the herring family, they are in a separate category called hiodontidae. They have small teeth and mainly feed on insects but will also hit live minnows and jigs. I hope this answers your question and thank you very much for watching.
Ol slime sled 😉
You and Richard Gene need to do a video together.
I agree, I’d love to spend a day on the water with him. Thank you for watching
Awesome dude. Definitely do some more multi species videos bro
I think that’s the cleanest and nicest Jon boat I’ve ever seen Hagen. What did you use for making a casting desk up front? Thanks!
2:30 Do Mooneye need salt like other shad when kept in a livewell?
You're watching Richard Gene while catfishing, and I'm watching you while catfishing 🤣 **I'm on Barren River though
I think the pan fishing video would be good but your way tomorrow on the tow boat Linda little
I was just wondering where do you put in on the Kentucky river, I live about 10 minutes from Carrollton
Hagen could you show us when you cut your bait.Thanx
Hagen, met you at last years Catfish conference. We're from St Louis and thinking about making a run down there to load up on skipjack for the summer. Any recommendations on spots to hit?
Just wonder where you get your rattles at that you use thanks man love your videos on the ohio keep um coming
👍🏼
What part of Kentucky you around I have family that live in Crittenden, haven't seen any water worth fishing when we're up there from visiting from Texas.
Brother I definitely love your material great fishing as always but I’m surprise that you guys didn’t go down and get baby bubbles air pump from Walmart for five dollars we have them here in Indianapolis and on two AA batteries I think they run from anywhere for 10 to 12 hours I always take about three or four packs of AAs extra in my cooler or pocket a dollar apiece at dollar tree that’s enough to keep my pump going for days
I have one of those battery operated pumps somewhere but can’t find it, going to have to pick up Another one. They definitely make a big difference, thank you for watching
Hey Hagen, when should we expect the catfish to come off the nest? I’m here in eastern KY son the Ohio river right by the greenup county locks and dam.
Normally around here the middle of July it seems a lot of the blues start to come off but it varies from year to year depending on weather. Thank you for watching.
Thought that was the Kentucky river, what lock u at her?
Hagen I'm also looking to purchase a small jon boat. What name an size boat is this jon your using.
