Bud Grant is also beloved in Winnipeg Manitoba Canada--he played for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers of the CFL and after he retired as a player went on to coach the team to several CFL championships-he was offered the head coaching job in Minnesota in 1961 when the team was formed but decided to stay in Winnipeg. When Norm Van Brocklin tanked as a headcoach in Minnesota-team management approached Mr. Grant in 1967 and he accepted the job--and the rest is history--a statue of Mr. Grant now sits outside Winnipeg's new football stadium

I remember an interview he had w/Steve Sabol. Sabol asked, "How do you feel about not having won a Super Bowl? Bud said, "doesn't bother me, anymore. You can't feel good about losing, but it's got to run its course. My life wouldn't be any different. I wouldn't be any richer. Sabol said, "you might be a little richer. You might have your own line of men's clothing or line of men's cologne. Bud said, "Well, that wouldn't be my primary interest anyway. This man has his priorities straight. Hope he makes it to 100. My father grew up in Prairie Farm, WI. Twice a year, Memorial Day and Labor Day Prairie Farm would play Ridgeland in town baseball. Teams would often pay an outside player (usually a pitcher) to play for them. Ridgeland paid Bud Grant to pitch for them My father, no more than 14, knew this, and went directly to the Prairie Farm baseball field after church to get the best seat behind home plate. He remembers Bud pulling in in his green Studebaker and crew cut. Bud was about 20 at the time.

Best coach ever - I don't care if they lost four SBs - his priority was to do the best you can - and have a life too. Like Madden said - he's one of the greatest coach of all time and the one thing that separates him from the rest was he didn't let things get to him. Bud's quote was "it's over" - time to move on. Tarkenton didn't lie. A lie is a deliberate attempt to mis-lead. Tarkenton is not doing that here. He got confused about the chronology, mis-remembered a story about Bud that he had heard from someone who was there, got a wire crossed in his memory. Tark has led a fantastically busy and crowded life and it's perhaps not surprising that this would happen. It happens to everyone. It might happen someday to Al Dixon.

    • @brianrajala7671

There is more than enough public land for hunters, who do not want the expense of owning their own public land.
Bud Grant has nothing to apologize for in posting his land.
When trees are planted and conservation projects are provided for habitat improvement at landowners own time and expense, there is no obligation to provide the public hunting lands.
The public cuts ruts in the roads, leaves trash for owners to deal with, and other numerous careless actions including breakage and sometimes theft without regard to the owners.
I have experienced rows of 100 tree seedlings run over and broken off by off road vehicles after planting.
So, the public is simply not welcome.

Yet it was called the “black and blue division…” probably for a very good reason. Didn’t matter who they played from 68-77 it took a special effort to beat Vikings. During dolphins perfect season thier most difficult game was Vikings. 16-14 There defense took no quarter and gave no quarter. Back then Alan page lived in backfields if they registered sacks he have the all time mark Three best DT I ever seen play Were Bob killed Alan page and Joe green. They were so good Aaron Donald doesn’t even make list! 😳
