Charlotte doesn't feel like Charlotte anymore. It use to be a laid back city with very friendly people. Now, it's aggressive in almost every aspect. Still better than most cities though, but I do miss the charm that it use to have.

Considering moving out of Texas (Houston/Cypress) due to this weather. The winter freeze and now the recent tornado was too much. 😅 Fortunately, we don’t have to change jobs since we work remotely. I’m used to living in the suburbs, but definitely want to live in an area that has all your basic shopping, dinning, entertainment needs, and maybe 30-40 mins from downtown for other events.

It's not that people in Charlotte can't drive. I hate to say it but there are rude drivers on the road who want to pass everyone else on the road without signaling or on the phone. But other cities I'm sure can say the same.

Thanks for the list and your perspectives. I'm coming from Wisconsin, so I don't care about any snow or such. During the time I lived in Charlotte there was an obvious effort to keep people who looked like me out of the job market. At the time I had two degrees and a decent amount of work experience at top companies in my field, but I was never able to get a job in Charlotte. It was the same story for people that I met who look like me. I eventually moved up North to the New England area after I got a job offer there. Overall, Charlotte is a nice city but proper employment for " minorities" did not exist when I lived there.

Born and raised here. Charlotte today has become a cluster (add your own expletive). I love that it's growing and am excited about where it's going. I think some of the biggest problems, which are already well realized include: poor infrastructure, too many people moving at once for the existing infrastructure and poor infrastructure. Yep, I said it twice because the infrastructure sucks. We need more than a planned light rail by 2050. The city is going to explode by then, and the roads can't keep up.

The light rail is such a waste, they need to expand it to help out 77 and 85 or just scrap it. It goes in a straight line, only people it benefits are UNCC students and people that live uptown when Charlotte is way bigger than that.

Banking has SLOWEDDD I know first hand. Charlotte does hold some major banks but it’s not certain you would get in the door at this current moment. Charlotte is a eh “large” city but still not big enough to comfortably accommodate the growth at this time. Charlotte is developing and may catch up but uptown is what moves people to relocate but know the whole city does NOT look like or function like uptown. Don’t expect a mini NY Vibe bc it’s still a southern city and unless it’s nightlife a lot of places close early. Still a decent city but you have to know what to expect across the board. The salary gap for living is a little off because the pay could be higher for what they are now charging and Charlotte is in a bit of an affordable housing crisis. Traffic is insane and the accident rate is so annoyingly high you must be aware because people drive way too fast and they don’t pay attention. summertime is peak season for street takeovers (which have already begun) this is from uptown to your local suburbs and the police do nothing about it.

Homeless people asking for money near IKEA, Marshals! South Charlotte is the safest area! Providence, South Park, Ballantyne. Waverly. Trendy area NoDA, plaza midwood, Dilworth- parking is so annoying. North lake mall is the new hood mall ( Eadtland Mall). outside of the queen city - Harrisburg, indian Trail, Waxhaw( areas are family friendly)!

Eh Cali is a large state that is over saturated with overpriced homes & such. There’s cities in the U.S. that are worse than all the cities in Cali, except Oakland. Oakland’s up there lol

South Carolina is pretty sweet! Greenville and Spartanburg are decent! I believe the cost of living is a little cheaper. Would love to visit again soon a nice break from the hustle and bustle
