Heya lovely Milda ,I had all faith in you finding that adit , and what a great old mine to discover. I still believe you have more guts than the vast majority of people (putting it politely of course) to go in there. It’s always the worry of false floors , they make my toes curl lol. Take care you and look forward to watching next video. All the best from Somerset 💯❤️
Thanks Simon, glad you have faith in me, I nearly gave up on that adit after the previous day's unsuccessful search but sometimes it takes a few goes.... 😊
Outstanding content as always. I guess carrying a heavy full set of waders is a bit of a phaf, when you're not sure you're going to need them. A possibly refinement to your set up would be to wear wet suit type socks perhaps. We walked past the the Borrowdale Mine in the Lake District this week which was the biggest graphite mine in the UK, supplying graphite for pencils. Yet there was no plaque to explain what it was. There's so much history locked up in the mountain sides. I find all aspects fascinating; the physical mining, the people stories and the economics which started the operations and eventually turned them off.
Yeah, I've got mid thigh neoprene socks, I sometimes carry them with me but in general I don't mind getting wet if it's below waist. Waders are so heavy and non breathable that any walk/climb gets you soaked on sweat 😖. Never been to a graphite mine! It's in high demand these days for Li-on batteries. Don't know if the right kind in there...
@@MildaGoesWild Sounds nice, you can explore them a lot them. Wales is uniqe then, and I searched for that video and I remember this, those bogs are beautiful indeed. But I guess they are not so safe. Waiting for your next video. :)
Lovely find! One can't help but be in awe of the sheer scale of the hard work of the miner to sometimes just put a bit of food on the table, remarkable!! How are your gloves holding out? Struggling to find a smaller pair of rugged gloves for my mine exploring girlfriend... Wondefully presented as always!!
Hey, I've found some small gloves in Screwfix - always worth checking in with them as the supermarkets etc don't tend to stock them in small. I have normal size hands really thin fingers 🙈
@@MildaGoesWild never thought of screwdix or similar, Sarah is petite like you and has small hands too. She also drives us further walking to find things driven by intrigue… My legs are still sore from this weekend of a mine and a Cold War bunker… Your filming is amazing, we have tried and failed terribly (only for us/friends)… Wales is where my heart is!!
Yes, with these backfilled levels you can only assume the whole thing is backfilled and not just the first portion blocked up hiding further passages... These old miners were quite meticulous though, so I have trust in them.
Interesting video as always! Presumably the breeze at the entrance means that there is another entrance somewhere - once inside, can you detect which side tunnel the air is coming from to try to find where it would be?
The draft sometimes can be just a cold differential although in this case there are mine workings roughly above/to the west, so it might be a genuine draft. The video link in the description shows the newer mine workings above/to the side.
Good question. There's videos I haven't posted yet, like the one on Parys Mountain which dates back to Bronze age - that would be the oldest. Of the more interesting times and the videos up - all the ones believed to be Roman...
Milda is way more badass than Lara Croft. Milda goes into the the murk and danger unarmed. If a load of wolves attacked Milda like in Tomb Raider she’d just beckon them to her and make friends and make a fuss of them. Same with the T-Rex and all the bad guys. She’d sit down with them and teach them all about mines and adits and everything. It’s just how Milda rolls really. Like a well maintained mine cart.
I never knew how interested in mines I was until I saw your videos.
Brilliant 😀

So cool!
Thanks young lady !
I enjoyed the video!
Best Wishes Always
Thanks Jack! A little mine but it was good to finally check it out.
What a great find. You did well to find it with it being so overgrown. Turned out to be an interesting explore .🙂
It's the best memories when there's a little struggle.
I love your videos. ❤
Thanks Mark
Found the trail. Committed when it got questionable. Found the mine. Snatched shrubs. And still went in alone. That's hard-core
The intention was to go in with company but we couldn't find it the previous day 😅

Lovely Video Milda.👍
Thanks David, we must catch up sometime it's been a while!
Nice find and great video mate. 😁👍
Thanks, more adventures to come 😼😉
You found another inderesting mine and the mountain also looks spectacular. :) Will you also visit bogs or marshes?
I mean, bogs and marshes kinda go hand in hand with the mines... Wales is super boggy. Like in the the Llyn Conwy video.

A nice mostly unchanged hand carved level with some later mining where the miners backfilled the level rather than take it outside.

What is the oldest mine you have made a video on ?
