This entire episode was… full of pain. It’s like watching the most painful episodes of The Owl House and Steven Universe… times x1000! 😢
Jesus Christ. Ruby, this is… a bit much, don’t you think? Ruby… that was uncalled for!
That was very homophobic of her. And just plain rude too. We know you’re breaking down, but don’t take it out on your friends and sister.
Calling Jaune’s situation some fantasy? Taking your screwups on Weiss, who just lost her home!? And now talking batshit on your sister’s new relationship!?
Ruby, we all go through pain, but you can’t just take it out on your own friends and family. This isn’t what Penny or Pyrrha wanted, and it’s certainly not what Summer wanted for you. 😔
I’m not sure it was homophobic but more just her taking it out on them.
Nah, that wasn't homophobic. She's so angry that she would've lashed out at anyone at this point. If Blake and Yang weren't there, it'd have been someone else.
I think she was taking more issue with the fact they were focusing on their romance instead of trying to leave.
From that perspective, it’s fair.
There is a time and place. It doesn’t help how Jaune worded it last episode.
“They probably have something bigger to work out.”
So in her mind she’s thinking… how is this more important than getting back home!
But I can agree that calling the villagers make-believe is insensitive.
Do you actually understand Ruby's feelings at all or are you just wanting to yell homophobia for everything?
Newsflash not everything is homophobic. That could have been a straight pairing and she still would have lashed out at them.
Ruby lashing out at everyone was a long time coming and I am surprised you can't see that... they deserved to at least hear some of that.
Its always poor everyone else but if its Ruby she is just supposed to toughen up right? No definitely not. If anyone has a right to be angry it is Ruby and Jaune. Cause they are leaders everyone looks to them for answers so what happens when the leaders give up?
Yang was ready to get mad on Blake's behalf but she didn't even register her sister was having a mental breakdown right in front of her until Jaune yelled at Ruby causing Ruby to cry and run away. Only then did Yang look somewhat concerned for Ruby's wellbeing.
But her first thought was that Ruby was gonna yell at or attack Blake...you see the way Yang stepped in front of Blake with an angry face. She thought her OWN sister was gonna hurt Blake. It shows she doesn't even understand Ruby at all. Ruby would NEVER hurt the girls even if she is mad at them. She lashed out but she would never willingly put them in harms way. Yang and the others were at fault here for not seeing the downhill spiral Ruby was going down. Because there were a lot of red flags pointing to Ruby's decent into self darkness.
The only other person besides Ruby I can't be mad at in this situation is Jaune because the boy is dealing with a lot of trauma himself and doesn't know how to handle it either.
Oh and Weiss because she is kind of neutral in this.m..she lost her home of course that is traumatic so can't really blame her but she has been only acting goofy in front of Ruby so Ruby isn't aware of how much Weiss is bothered by losing Atlas.
No I think she lashed out because of what herb asked: "What are you?" (In her perspective: What or Who is Ruby Rose?) Her teammates answered the question. But, she hesitated. It's not that she is Homophobic it's just the fact She dose not know what to do without messing up. I mean who do you think they are? Gods? They are only human. Sure they have kicka$$ weapons, Powerful Semblance, Strong Aura & all the training skills and fame money can buy. But, by the end of the day all they can do is the best they can.
Besides, Is this Ruby's Destiny? To fight an invincible witch that can't die for All Eternity?
It was only bad of Ruby to say that The Paper People are make believe to Jaune. Nothing else that Ruby said is bad. She's speaking truths
Yep she is
So is Jaune
@@SonGokuisawesome Which parts though cause if it's about Neo it's not her fault
@@Isabella-tu9fb He's right about her plan failing, about her being the reason they're in the Ever After. But the reason he's in the wrong is because she's not the only one responsible. No one else had any better ideas, so they all agreed to Ruby's. It was her plan, he's right, but no one decided to protest.

Geez, that quote aged a bit too well after this scene
The internet: HOMOPHOBIA
RWBY fans: her not getting to express herself/be open/cared about for around 9 seasons is finally getting to her 😓
Honestly it is about time Ruby yelled at them. This whole volume her change in attitude was very evident yet Weiss was too busy thinking about Atlas and talking to Ruby about it and Blake and Yang were too busy being cuddly and stuff. While Ruby just sat there suffering and showing clear signs of it. Like idk if I see my friend not jump for joy when seeing smg she loves that would have been a major red flag to me. So when ruby got her weapon finally and the whole group watched u think they would’ve finally realized smg was up.
To be fair atlas was Weiss’s only home and it’s gone now, but Blake and Yang have no excuse for doing that cringe bumblebee crap while ruby wallowed in her own sadness by herself
@@Warcrime4367 yeah, it's fair to Weiss to be like that since she currently has no real good idea if her family is currently safe, especially with Winter now being a target for Cinder and maybe still for Salem herself.
Well, I'd say Weiss could see something was wrong, but didn't want to push.
She knows what it's like to have to hide your feelings from those closest to you.
Think about it. Weiss grew up in an abusive household. She could never tell her parents or her siblings how she was feeling. And when she finally did tell her father how she was feeling in volume 4, she was slapped.
And in this scene, when Ruby approaches Weiss while angry, you can see the fear on Weiss' face.
And I think Weiss was the only one who knew ruby Wasn't ok
3 reasons I like this:
1. Ruby finally speaking out on her mental pain and telling everyone why she’s always the one to figure things out for everyone, and why no one decides to give a damn about her when she’s clearly having these problems to deal with as well.
2. Jaune completely yelling at Ruby and telling her that her plans only end in failure because they never work, and when they do, they end up getting a lot killed, or result in conflict with others because of HER plans.
3. Ruby just telling Blake to shut up. It’s not about her saying “Shut up” to Blake. It’s about her getting fed up of hearing that even though they’re in a tough spot, they’ll get through it somehow and things will get better, when deep down Ruby knows it won’t unless you truly have a well thought out plan.
(This was something I’ve been waiting for throughout the series, and I’m glad they finally did it. About the only highlight I’ll have of RWBY nowadays.)
All Yes 👍👍 I waited years to see this side of Ruby. I wanted this immediately after the Fall of Beacon
Clank ) I like Blake but yes you’re right about all that. Besides Blake could’ve gave Ruby a hug and tell her it’s okay let it all out I’m right here instead just standing there talking fake positivity.
Man, just imagine this breakdown happened in Remnant? That would've attract a lot of Grimm to their location.
That would be bad.
To be fair we all should have known Ruby had mental issues from the beginning. Red Like Roses part 2, showed she was suffering mentally from the very beginning of the show. She just never allowed herself to express her depression and hid it behind a cheery facade. 9 seasons later the cracks have finally gotten too big.
I also appreciate how Ruby finally unleashes her frustration with Weiss from all the way back in volume 1. We all thought she'd let it go once Weiss told her that she could be a good leader.
I think it was right when they learned the truth about Salem that it started to grow along with the baggage of the death of her friends.
If you listen to what she says carefully, you realize that she’s venting about the mistakes she’s made and is attacking herself more than she is the others, venting the insecurities and problems she’s been holding back since probably the fall of beacon.
"in every film there's a moment when the hero hits rock bottom." -deadpool
Both Jaune’s and Ruby’s actors are doing the best job. Miles is great and so is Lindsay. Love them both
what makes this hit harder is that Ruby was absolutely right in this argument:
1) Yang started to basically ignore Ruby most of Volume 7 and 8, and only fixated on Blake. All the times she even tried to ask if anything is wrong(to ruby) she would immediately be cut off by something unexpected.
2) Weiss was being supportive of Ruby the entire time, but after Jaune appeared in the Ever After, she began to rely on him more than Ruby.
3) When Ruby said how nobody cared to ask how she is doing, Jaune immediately yelled at her saying its all about her only to then to go into a sob story taking everyones attention away from her.
Her team was able to sort out their feelings in the Ever After, but when she tried to let out her feelings too she was criticized. Rubys mental problems were already showing in the start of the series to begin with as she started to have trouble to even express herself and putting up this facade of being the happy-go-lucky she always is while deep down she really isnt happy. And as the seasons go by, it just continues to get worse.
Ruby finally spoke on what is bothering her I'm proud of her .
Y'know when we could have used this realization?
When everyone collectively decided that the youngest teenager should be the one to call all of the shots.
this scene is a perfect representation of two breakdowns interacting with one another
Notice how much pain she's in after Jaune yelled at her. That's the look of someone betrayed by the person they cared about the most. Abandoned by the one you loved.
The very first friend and best buddy she made in high school.
@@soulsearcher117 Yeah this one dude said that he didn't believe what was what he said to her that made her upset, but who was saying it. :(
I think he only said that because he was grieving literally in that moment and Ruby kind of invalidated that by saying the papers were imaginary.
@@fayerie-tb1siAgreed, Ruby shitting on the Paper folks was a low blow towards Jaune and he had every right to snap at her. That aside, her meltdown towards her team was completely valid.
@@crazy961234bullcrap!! Ruby had every right to snap at Jaune!!! No one EVER cares about her, and yet they ALWAYS expect her to help them. Jaune was the A-hole because this was Ruby’s first time to let out her anger in AGES, and what does he do? He goes off at her simply because she’s trying to explain her own feelings. He deserves every bit of anger she gives him…
The emotion from Lindsay (Ruby) and Miles (Jaune) in this scene was some of the most intense throughout the whole series. The camera work, to the animations. It was what I had been hoping for ever since hearing that V9 was going to focus on Ruby's crumbling mental state. Boy, did this deliver! There is also some incredible symbolism in that Jaune lost his village the Exact Same Way, Atlas drowned Mantle.
Vol. 1-3 Ruby: sweet and cheerful
Vol. 9 Ruby: 🎵Damn it feels good to be a gangsta 🎵
Cant stop rewatching... we've seen Jaune lose control of his emotions before, but to see Ruby give in to her negative thoughts and say them is surprising. She held it all in for too long and on the verge of cracking, she kept holding it.
Ruby needs to be saved from the darkness that she's tried to keep her friends and family out of.
No, darkness is a part of life just as light is we have to accept it and grow from it not bottle it up. This lashing out is the inflection point that can break Ruby or rebuild her.
Should she choose the later if she does not mature it will only reflect Salem's story, inmaturity getting the best of her.
Tbh Ruby’s point is proven here because the moment she starts opening up Jean steals the spotlight
You have a point, because she finally opens up, she finally shows actual weakness to people, asks the serious question of “why am I the one that always has to pick you up?” And then jaune goes off with “what about you, it’s all about you!” When she has consistently just tried to help everyone else at her own expense and everyone seems to think there’s something wrong with her when she finally asks for help
@@epicslayerguy99 Even if Jaune WAS right, he should've had the good sense to shut up and wait until later or, at least, until Ruby was done.

Finally just finally ruby and jaune snapped and im glad ruby shuts up blake things could've gone ugly if this continues
Ruby: *Having a mental breakdown*
Yang: But how is Blake?
True...
Seriously. Yang dropped the ball in this one
I love this for her, sometimes you've just had enough. So many things went wrong and she's just a teen who can't get a win or catch a break. She wanted to be a Huntress and now she's trapped in Wonderland with the fate of the world on her shoulders again because no one else is capable of trying to fix it, again. Every adult she has ever encountered in her life failed her again. Like Yas queen, let it out, tell them how you feel. Everyone has a breaking point, it's what you do afterwards that is the defining character moment.
Yes that was a big moment! 😍
I heard after this, the finale got cut due to low budget btw.
They wanted to focus more on Ruby afterwards and show remnant again
Just wanted to point that out, there's a video on youtube talking about the tweets discussing the cuts, I thought it was pretty interesting 😊
@@PeachHeadzAddiction the storyboards have also been re-uploaded to UA-cam
I appreciate that we see Ruby's frustration from all the way back in volume 1 come up.
Her main gripe against Weiss aside from wanting to get home being "gotta find someone who isn't gonna screw everything up"
That's a callback to Weiss thinking she should've been leader and that Ruby is a screw up.
The "stay positive" thing feels like a big problem with Yang who was always trying to stay positive until Adam cut her arm off and now Blake is helping her by trying to stay positive.
But everything she's gone through over the last 2 in-universe years is finally too much for her to bottle up.
Ruby and Jaune’s mental breakdowns hurt BUT the look on Ruby’s face at 1:11, my GOD THAT LOOK HURTS BAD! Here she is, a scared, angry, helpless and emotionally neglected girl, who feels like her best friend JUST betrayed her along with her teammates
So Ruby’s going through a rough patch and the rusted knight.
1:51 surprising but understandable, not want to hear it all the time just wanting to take a moment to process this herself. Still I want to make her feel better.
Crossing my fingers that Ruby needs time alone to get better.
Someone telling Blake to shut her mouth was a long time coming
0:36 what Yang does says a lot putting herself between Blake and Ruby. First thinking Blake cannot defend herself, second thinking Ruby would attack Blake and third Yang showing disregard for her sister having a mental breakdown. Keep in mind in volume 5 Yang went on a journey dispite still being shakey from her injury and gave up her chance to talk with her mom who shes been trying to find since she was a child, in order to get to Ruby, not Blake Ruby, so her total abandoning or Ruby is so frustrating.
Yeah she's a Bad Sister. Ever since Volume 4
Yang was shielding Blake because she could take the punches better than Blake. Yang is Ruby's sister, and as of this moment, what she needed was a punching back to vent out her emotions into. Yang gave her that opportunity while simultaneously protecting Blake, by letting her vent it out to someone who would be able to take ir
@@maiseree1511I’d honestly take this answer if it wasn’t for what happened earlier in the volume and in V8.
It’s a very plausible answer but I personally just can’t really see it.
@@theblackdagger4566what happened?
@@theblackdagger4566- they were having a bad time and Yang wanted to try to help. Family have disagreements and even after that they still care about each other especially when she was their trying give her sister hope again.
The fact this parallels and is set up in 5x05 where Oscar asks Ruby how she can handle all this...
She handle it with a mask 😢
This scene is tragic because it highlights all of the trauma Ruby endured. She got arrested for fighting Roman, Ozpin enrolled her at Beacon because she had silver eyes, had to fight the White Fang to make Blake feel better about herself, her sister was arrested, Pyrrha died in front of her, her uncle got poisoned, Oscar yells at her, Weiss nearly dies in front of her, she discovers that Salem is immortal, watches her uncle get drunk, Ironwood makes her a criminal, nearly dies, watches the people she tried to save die, and finds out that Penny died too. That's a lot of changes that a 15-year old had to take.
Ruby snapping at her friends hurts to see, but you can tell that Ruby is sore about being the definition of a Huntress with nothing to show for it. Weiss keeps bringing Atlas, reminding Ruby of her failure. Yang barely got to spend time with her since Volume 6 because she'd rather focus on her romance with Blake. And Jaune is getting sympathy in spite of Ruby's trauma.
It's kind of sad to see how Ruby is mean-spirited about Bumblebee considering how she would have approved on earlier seasons. But it also shows how distant she became. Blake is offended by Ruby's insult of her relationship with Yang while Yang is offended at Ruby treating the girl that she loves like that.
It's kind of sweet how Blake tries to cheer Ruby up. You can see that without the White Fang burdening her and embracing her feelings for Yang, Blake wants to be a pillar of support. But Ruby is annoyed at being told to cheer up in the face of so much trauma. Additionally, it's hypocritical of Blake to ask Ruby to cheer up when she risked her life and the whole team to deal with her White Fang vendetta, so I am glad that Ruby told her to shut up.
Jaune snapping at Ruby hurts. But you can see how much trauma he endured. He didn't earn his place at Beacon, was bullied, Pyrrha died, nearly lost Ren, early watched Weiss die, Cinder nearly kills him, he nearly destroys his friendship with Oscar, and then he kills Penny. And that's not adding being stuck in this place for many years and watching the people that he protected die.
It's clear that Jaune and Ruby are suffering, and I hope that this gets touched upon in the last chapters of this volume and the following volumes.
To be fair, Oscar yelling at Ruby in that episode was totally because of what she is breaking down. He was worried about her and tried to share HIS burden to help her open up. She doesnt and this annoys him. And thats actually leads to Ruby openning up and Oscar realized the burden she carried. And no coincidence that Oscar becomes very focused in observing Ruby and making sure she doesnt have more burden.
No coincidence that this breakdown scene parallels the Dojo scene.
"How you handle ALL this?" / "what about me?"
I know a lot of people rag on the newer seasons of the show. But I will say that in a lot of ways, this was actually a bit of a good thing for her. We may not like the fact that she went off on her teammates. But if you really think about it, this was inevitable.
Even the happiest members of a group have their breaking point. And unfortunately, this was the point where Ruby herself just felt that she had hit the end of her proverbial rope. After all, we have to remember that this happened after they went through a string of losses.
And it wasn’t just one string, man. It was a whole bunch of it.
@@multiverse_media2023 indeed. Not only that, but there’s also the fact that they have gone through a rather extreme emotional roller coaster during this whole thing. And even though she tried to stay positive the whole time you know, everybody has their breaking point.
Damn, Rudy and Jaune snapped and apparently you can't blame them. What can I say? It's always best to put your foot down and let it all out. And yes, this episode was indeed painful.😢😪 Ruby has been going through a lot of pain and trauma. In the words of Patrick Star: SO MUCH PAIN!
After seeing the face of death in the Jabberwalker It’s obvious Ruby would break down
She basically said fuck you I quit the band 😂😂😂
Man, being a hero isn't that easy. Luz, Optimus Prime and the others learn that the hard way.
P.s
I cant resist Ruby anger cuteness
Agreed. I'm upset it took this long to finally see a glimpse of the Ruby Rose I wanted since Volume 3
What about Thomas The Tank Engine? He and James learned that too.
I’m not the kind of person that likes to overthink things, but…. It really has felt like Ruby and Yang have really begun to apart.
Like I know, Yang has freshly come off of finally confessed her feelings to Blake (and I’m very ecstatic about it)… but as an older sibling, there is absolutely no reason you shouldn’t be giving your clearly struggling younger sibling, a hug, or some kind of form of comfort. Instead however she gave her a death glare, acting like Ruby was being hostile. Ruby wasn’t being hostile though, she’s just venting all of her problems, HOPING someone will help like how she helps everyone else.
Ruby character is very kind but people have been not paying attention to her and putting her problems to the side I’m honestly hoping we see ruby have some character growth even if she goes down a darker path for a few episodes or volumes
@@hololiveforever9455 this is the path I wanted for Ruby since The Fall of Beacon. I'm mad it took 6 fing Volumes to finally get it, and years after giving up on this series
@@ReiseLukas for real honestly i hope we get a new outfit for ruby and maybe see her with long hair that’s just me though 😆
She was trying so hard to be strong.....but she never asked for help from others...imagine if she did?
They wouldn't have helped her. They would have continued to ignore her and just pretend that everything's okay.
@@nickwilliamson4109I wouldn’t say so. A few times, Weiss noticed something was wrong and asked. But Ruby was interrupted from talking. If anyone understands having to conceal your true feelings, it’s Weiss
This kinda reminds me of Steven Universe’s climax and MHA’s 6th season climax. Where the main character (Steven and Deku) starts “breaking down” from their responsibilities/sense of self.
Like those main characters, looks like Ruby (and Jeanne) is gonna need the same kind of medicine: the “power (or magic lol) of friendship”.
Maybe like them, Ruby’s friends will end up fighting Ruby to save her. haha….
Or just Weiss. Somehow this whole volume is also setting up Weiss as the one who’ll comfort Ruby.
@@multiverse_media2023 Or maybe even Little since that mouse has yet to play a "significant" role.
@@multiverse_media2023 I'd say it's because Weiss knows what it's like to bottle up your feelings. She couldn't talk to her family about how she felt. Klein was likely all she had. Granted it's implied she's close to Winter, but we don't know how close they were as kids.
Plus when Ruby was approaching Weiss as she ranted, you can see that Weiss is scared. She knows that when someone is angry and ranting, she gets hurt.
Ruby does need to calm down, but I think Weiss is the only one who can really get through to her.
We need their friendship to develop since it hasn't changed at all since volume 1
1:54 At first glance, it seems that Ruby told Blake to shut up and “don’t do that” because she’s tired, but then I realize another reason may be because she also doesn’t want Blake to have the burden of being a leader as well
That's.. honestly something I never considered. Ruby always had to do that, picking everyone up because she's the leader and Blake started to. That's a brilliant obsevation
Thanks! I didn’t really thought about it until after I watched it, and then after that it made sense
Holy shit I never thought of that...RWBY fans and their derivations drive me insane to date. Even though that's very creative, I doubt the writers would ever think of that lol (especially considering the current state of RWBY writing).
I look at it as more, Ruby not wanting to hear more excuses for the team to completely dismiss her emotions. Ive noticed that every time Blake does something like that, it serves no purpose besides dismissing the problems she’s supposedly addressing.
What if it was both? What if it was Ruby protecting Blake from the stress she is going through while also telling her and others not to dismiss her own feeligs?
Ruby has always had a heart of gold and despite her breaking down she still is trying to have the teams best interest at heart is what I feel. Even when we break if we truly love others we want what's best.
I totally get why Ruby broke down like this, and she definitely needed to get it out because she has a lot to process, but I still feel like an apology was seriously needee from her.
Save that for Volume 10. She’s gonna have some guilt over what she did and said in Volume 9.
@@multiverse_media2023unless season 2 of RWBY Ice Queendom takes place in Volume 10 where Ruby becomes the breeding ground of a Grimm nightmare where her teammates will see her pain and sorrow throughout all that time being the leader who they never checked up on!
She doesn't owe them shit in my opinion
Sure, but they also owe her an apology. I feel like the only person she actually genuinely should apologise to is Jaune.
I feel bad it took this for ruby to let her anger out and jaune lashed out too but he apologized
I don’t think Ruby accepts his apology. She already hates herself, and Jaune already made it worst.
The damage has been done.
Even though this was painful, i feel that this was necessary. Both Jaune and Ruby have had a lot on their hearts for so long, better to let it all out, no matter how ugly their grief is, because in the end, it will allow them to heal.
Not the sort of thing you'd expect to watch on a day meant for fun and happiness
This is bad, real bad because of the pain and grief that Ruby had been through, and it doesn't have to be that way to ruby and Juane both and blake, wiess, yang, and Juane would become vulnerable without ruby and can someone who help ruby to let go of her grief, pain, suffering, loss, and truma to have her spirit and the fire in her heart regained and even unlock the new power within ruby and even come back to her friends and juane improved and better than ever before.
In the wise words of a certain JoJo Opening....
BREAKDOWN BREAKDOWN
Also, in the words of Patrick... SO MUCH PAIN! You know? Cause they all been going through a lot of pain and trauma.
The pressures finally sinking in...
It is something we all forsaw. She was struck with a lot of bad luck from the start, Ozpin, penny, Pyrrha, etc. But just like anger, trauma and bad luck can accumulate and turn you into something worse.
My guess is, she is broken till an irreversible point. The only flaw she has, is she wasn't ready to cope with all this.
I believe that there is one person that might change it and (forgive me of I'm wrong) make her stronger. Old saying: what doesn't kill you, makes you harder to kill in the end. My theory: Neo will try to kill her but at this point Ruby doesn't care anymore due to how broken she is. Come on Ruby... pull yourself together and use your goddamn past experiences to toughen up. She is destined to terminate Neo and if she doesn't do it, no one will.
In the end we all agree she was right about everything but one thing. Jaune has been through many more years of trauma and we might have an answer this Saturday as to why this happened to him
Me to bro
I'm going to be honest about this series
1st
Yang is the eldest sister of ruby. When they went to school she was opposed to be taking a class on how to have wisdom and honor in real life instead she choose to be a follower. Let everything influence her. She should've gone to a place where you can learn how to not let anger and hate get to her.
Like Leo from TMNT.
Optimus prime
Caesar from planet of the apes.
They be themselves, find their voices, and Take things serious.
And 2nd Ruby and Jaune
They are the best characters of the series.
They're intelligent and strong spirited but I feel like they been doing too much for they're family and friends.
Like it doesn't have to be always the protagonist to fix everything.
They guys deserve a break from everything.
. I believe this timeline has to change.
1:21 Being alone for years can change you.😔😔
Where has this side of Ruby been? This is what I wanted to see after Volume 3
To be honest the series has been pointing to this since Oscar realized her burden in 5x05 and become super focused in supporting and pay attention to her.
Go rewatch Volume4. There were moments of her grieving over Pyrrha, but she didn't verbally express it like Jaune.
And even then in Vol. 4, Jaune reassured that going into Haven after Fall of Beacon was right and gave JNR the courage to follow her after Pyrrha’s death.
Second to Penny, Jaune is Ruby’s best friend and a fellow squad leader and they shared much of the same exp and scars. So Jaune snapping at her definitely hurt Ruby the most (she begins to cry too…)
You know, Ruby going off on her own is just only going to cause another problem and while I don't look into horror movies that often, isn't one of the rules of being in a horror movie to not go off on your own cause you never know if you are getting ambushed by the killer which in this case, Neo will likely now find Ruby alone with no one to intervene.
Judging Ruby’s problem and her… grieving… she’ll either kill Neo out of wanting to be alone, or just beg her to kill her but, Neo won’t because what’s the point killing someone so broken.
@@multiverse_media2023 honestly I think that this situation would've been worse and darker had it been Ruby sent back in time and not Jaune as she would've had to deal with compounded failures, the losses of those failures, being haunted by those lost, drifting in yet another world she doesn't understand trying it's damndest to kill her.. except now she's all alone, with no one to rely on until she met Alyx and her brother, betrayed, left for dead.. this would've made her very pessimistic..a Darker Ruby ..."Red like Roses" as her themesong suggests.. perhaps surviving as a
"solo-mercenary" just to well survive.. She'd also have more of reason to confront Jaune after learning He was Penny's killer. Or the fact she was left all alone..waiting and suffering without her team or family for half a decade..her lashing out at everyone would've made more sense frankly.. When asked about what a huntress is she'd simply respond despondant aloof saying it's "Not Me.." as if running away from the responsibilities hardships and pain she endured for years all alone. So her lashing out at Blake also would've been more justified.. as she finally got her happy ending with her elder sister who wasn't around for YEARS only to suffer alone..just like Yang's mother Raven..it would be a parrallel as she couldn't stop either transformation..either "Loss" of the people she knew to the people they've become..
Ruby would be simply..."Black Thorn" or "Rose" at this point..
A WHAT IF situation I guess that could also work as a Fanfiction..
@@vinny8589 honestly, that's the best idea I've heard regarding RWBY in a long time
I have to say, with all the crap Ruby is been dealing on the ever after, it was a matter of time of her contained feelings go boom like a bumped dust container, amd yeah, at first sight, maybe Ruby sounded like an homphobic brat, but Lets take a bigger picture, she never disrespected lgbtq couples, she didnt say anything bad about Jaune's sister, i mean hell even she has some bi/pan traits...
I think the problem here, it was from her perspective, Ruby taught that Yang and Blake just got together like that, she didnt knew about the Storm episode, and with the fall of atlas, Penny's death, Salem about to revive any time, and being trapped on the ever after, was the perfect combination for mental breakdown.....
Even the most optimistic have their low moments...and certainly...this is maybe the deepest moment of all....

There's something in Ruby that has lost hope
I mean jaune isn’t completely wrong but still so many more people would’ve died if they hadn’t done what they did and if ironwood hadn’t done what he did then maybe things could’ve ended differently. Maybe it wasn’t the best choice but so many more people survived because of that choice.
Sometimes the only choices you have are bad ones... but you still have to choose.
not many people realize that ruby has to live with the decisions she makes, she knows her actions cost the lives of others, and she thinks now its all her fault. Her mental breakdown is the accumulation of her failures.
And Ironwood wouldn't have done what he did if they didn't betrayed him first.

Can rwby team stop the rumbllng?
As much as I liked this scene... what happened here and what came next was really too much, and really highlighted the flaws and the mistakes that have been ongoing for wayy too long in the show and that were never properly addressed by the writers, who probably stopped thinking as much as WotC and Disney.
First off... I acknowledge the whole breakdown Ruby had after all this as something that everyone in the group should've probably seen coming from afar way before this point. However, what hurt me the most was how both sides wronged each other. Ruby could've just tried harder to talk to the others about what painful hell she was going through before reaching this point and acting like a bratty asshole... but she did little to nothing towards that, despite being well aware everyone put too much expectancy on her shoulders and relied too much on her instead of acting indipendently and maybe suggest a better course of action. That could've probably saved them from much more trouble...
On the other hand, I'm angry at the rest of her team for fucking up that much. I don't really blame Weiss being in her situation despite she knew more but didn't fully act enough on them, but... Blake and Yang? They have been absolutely a pain in the ass to watch. Blake absolutely proved how toxic can optimism be in situations like this, and Yang... just proved how much of a disappointment she is. She didn't even bother to try to help until it was too later and instead went to cover up Blake, mistaking her sister's breakdown for an hostile action against her crush. The Bumblebee couple, who became a thing right at the worse moment in the show (and all because the writers used a petty excuse to win over a fandom minority and cover up their Disney levels of lazy writing), put up a disgusting veil between them and Ruby and failed to notice the signs because "they had something bigger to work out" and failed to set their priorities straight. At this point I don't even understand what was the intent behind all this, but... they sure as shit fucked it all up.
I absolutely don't blame Jaune here because he went into as much as shit as Ruby (more or less), but grew up better compared to Ruby and despite some shortcomings he was just as right. I feel pity for what he had to go through and... seeing him argue with Ruby like that was truly sad. I don't know if they will ever recover and actually forgive each other and themselves after all this, but... this was really a distressing episode. Next time they could make their CWs clearer, but other than that... I'm deeply disheartened and wounded by how things went. If they could reboot the series the right way or make up for their mistakes, I would like it. But seeing it fall like this is even worse than Star Wars and D&D put altogether.
I would add however that Ruby's explosion on Jaune, while emotionally understandable, was genuinely uncalled for. Ruby was there for Jaune when he felt inadequate as a leader, and ever since Jaune has always been Ruby's pillar of support when no one else was, at every instance, he was able to support Ruby's idealisms no matter how naive they might be. It's not even inaccurate to say the two are closer to each other than their own teams and are the other's best friends. But for the first time in a long time (both figuratively and literally), Jaune needs Ruby's support. It's been decades, he's equally if not more unstable than Ruby is, and the loss of people who have taken care of his last shred of sanity are gone, he's at his most vulnerable. He doesn't need Ruby to be a leader in that moment, he just needs a friend.
But despite everything he's done, in this moment of need, Ruby essentially asks him and everyone else to be _more_ for her, and for the first time, he actually explodes and scolds Ruby for her, albeit understandable, but still selfish demand. It's like Sindri from GoW, they kept giving and when they had nothing left, those closest to them still asked for more.
I understand and even sympathize with Ruby a bit, but treating your best friend like that was still rather uncalled for.
Honestly though, the fact Volume 9 only really addresses Ruby and Bumblebee and essentially ignores Weiss and Jaune who literally carry the show is why CRWBY is seen as it is. Weiss, their friend who just lost her home and country and everything her family has built, and Jaune, the man who still stands despite his weakness, forced to kill a friend, driven to the edge of madness by the trauma of his own inability and bloodied hands; all never addressed, not resolved in any way distinctly respectfully, and all glossed over by a gag with no punchline, sugarcoated by "Ruby's trauma is worse" and "Bumblebee B-plot for the fifth time". And even then the resolutions to Ruby, Yang, Blake, and even Neo were pretty bland. Ruby was fixed through convenient magic character development tea, Yang and Blake kissed and completely ignored the fact Yang chose to protect Blake instead of her unarmed little sister when they were attacked by the Jabberwalker, and Neo went to one therapy session with the voices in her head. And *_how_* did that all pay off?
With team RWBY getting their first volume W in a while and it was just to beat up a cat who wanted to leave a tree and was evil for no reason then just being bored living in a tree. Their "achievement" is literally kicking a kitten and then saying they're ready for Salem... they didn't even beat Neo, she literally left on her own. Volume 9 kind of literally does nothing genuinely substantial and beneficial to the conflict with Salem, who tanked a nuke.
@@nobuffer101it feels like Ruby has been containing all of this since vol 1. Especially the stuff towards Weiss.

what the heck happened in this show i haven't watched it since volume 5/6
The short version: Ruby hasn’t gotten to express herself, hasn’t had time to rest, is blamed for the failures of her team (which, in more recent seasons, cost hundreds of lives if not thousands), and then asked what’s next, never having time for herself.

The show went massively down hill is what happened
Ruby is having a mental breakdown and I'm here laughing at her for being "homophobic"
She's not being homophobic. She's hurting because she realized she has feelings for Penny and is unable to confess to Penny because she's DEAD for REAL this time. She's jealous that she can't experience this with Penny. Not because she's any kind of phobic
@@alexskywalker5478that's still wrong
@@alexskywalker5478 That is quite literally the worst possible interpretation of this scene.
@@alexskywalker5478jesus, how far of a leap did you have to make to justify THAT ship? 😂
You’re right that Ruby isn’t any kind of phobic, but your reasoning is so far off I think the moon would be closer. Ruby’s breakdown was a result of trauma and neglect that she has felt really since the fall of Beacon. And the jealousy you speak of comes more so from the fact that Yang and Blake can support each other when the other is down, while she’s been carrying the weight of the journey alone, and NOBODY has bothered to genuinely check in with her.
Some have said Jaune has a point when he... doesn't?
He blames Ruby for like, existing and ignores that it was his idea to bring them all here. And the plan with Mantle was their last possible option and didn't really 'fail'. There was a heavier cost then anticipated, but they were ultimately successful in evacuating the kingdoms.
They did fail though: The maiden power is not within their control, the artifact is for a fact in the enemies control, and they evacuated the kingdom to what exactly? To toil away in another season of racial conflict between Atlas and the Faunus on Hawaii? The weirder/worst part of this is that not even the writers could make their decisions make sense. Imagine writing what you want and it still coming off as your best intentions being shit. To me this moment is an attempt to reconcile that "Hey, basing your writing about modern events to stay relevant doesn't make a good show. And that maybe we can't save ourselves by writing towards the fans that RT likes because the fans that RT likes are a super minority and not paying the bills." I hope this is a moment to fix the show but in reality they will write something with less than one dimension to fix their little spar.
Let's also not forget that the reason Ruby's parents are fucked up is because there was a relationship within the team that got them killed. So I'm suprised they aren't throwing more shade at BuMbLeBeE within their own story. The only way they could really make that up is if Blake dies and Yang gets to relive her dad's trauma.
I think the thing is that Jaune was a character who despite everything in 7 and 8 did keep a level head so some of this maybe bottled up from the losses there, he did go with Ren, yang and oscar and if I recall its left a bit ambigious on his real feelings about launching Amity...however, Jaune also knows about penny and what happened to the Maiden power and the relics...I think this is a more intense version of volume 6 when he confronts Oscar about Ozpin-he knows its not really Ruby's fault-Cinder's actions are wildcards now but he's looking forr somewhere or someone to blame. However, he does event admit that he's not right and apologises for it but we have been seeing Jaune have slow builds of emotions like this pretty much since volume 5 if not before-but now the people who he normally turned to for support-Ren and Nora aren't with him and he has no idea if they're ok.
Three cheers for Rubys THIRD depression arc. Maybe this time she’ll become an actual character.

I just finished watching this episode last night and it made me so mad. When it was over, I was like: The fuck?
One moment they made Jaune look like he's become a competent reliable hero who has matured and become knowledgeable through years of experience, then all in this one episode they make him look like a loser who wasted everyone's time, FOR YEARS!
Ruby is pretty much expressing how I feel about the show right now. I am so done with the writer's shit:
1. They pretend Ozpin is a bad guy when he isn't
2a. They did Sun dirty by throwing all of the development and buildup he had with Blake out the window so they can pander to the Bumbleby shippers
2b. The writers decided to lie and pretend that Bumbleby was a thing going on for a "long time" (or since the beginning depending on who you ask) when in actuality it only started in Volume 7 after defeating Adam to cash in on the shippers
3. They did an unnecessary character assassination with Jaune
What the hell is up with the writers and character assassination? You can just write that the reason why Jaune was so occupied was because he was defending the villagers from the constant attacks of the Jabberwalkers. Instead, they disrespected his character and made him into a pathetic loser who hasn't made any progress in his life, but the Bumbleby shippers wouldn't dare criticize the awful writing because the writers pandered to their romantic fantasies like they wanted.
Jaune was suffering from years of issues. Of course, he was going to have problems.
@@Luffy-is-King
Again, you can show that he has problems without destroying and disrespecting his character.
Notice how the other characters thought he was "creepy" for naming the origami people after his friends when it is clearly a way for him to prevent his memories of his friends from fading due to the passage of time. They also constantly call him unreliable even though he mapped out unknown dangerous territory they haven't even explored yet.
This is Ozpin all over again where the writers _try_ to show that he was "evil" but failed at it. The writing is garbage, no excuses.
@@darkglass3011 Destroying? Jaune is a deeply traumatized person and him desperately trying to protect the origami people was clearly just his way to cope with loneliness and his insecurities about his failures in the past. Nothing was destroyed there.
@@racervin14
Yes it was. You didn't even read my comment did you? I JUST EXPLAINED that what was revealed in the episode is a coping mechanism for Jaune, but Team RWBY didn't see it that way.
Instead, they saw him naming the origami people after his friends as "creepy" as if it's some dark secret Jaune would have hidden otherwise like he's a stalker and used that as a springboard to further insult his character.
They constantly called him "unreliable", portraying him as someone who thinks he knows better but doesn't and uses that as justification to not even consider using the map he spent literal years making in order to help them get home.
They treated his character like garbage and they screwed it up big time just like they did with Ozpin and even the Bumbleby ship which was forced garbage.
@@darkglass3011 They did see it that way eventually but they were reasonably reticent to trusting him since they knew he'd been alone for a very long time and was showing some very erratic behaviour that they'd never seen on him before. Also, nobody is pretending Ozpin was a bad guy, but you can't blame the team for distrusting him after all the secrets he kept from them and the whole world and the fact that he put the weight of the whole world on Ruby's shoulders without even telling her which was one of the main reasons for her eventual and inevitable mental breakdown.

And let me add that just cause you give the paper people a identity that dosent make them the identity you give them he is coping in the worst way possible they know nothing of jaunes friends and family and lack the personalities and such they are by all accounts not who he named them
So 9 Valumes people still can't admit that Ruby is a brat with no accountability...
But she isn't a brat.. She is literally going through hell, she lost pyrrah, penny, she hasn't been able to see her uncle for who knows how long they've been in the everafter. In vol 1 she was only like 16-17 yet was already chosen as leader instead of yang or Blake who have more experience, Ruby was bound to break down sooner or later because of everything that was put on her shoulders. ALMOST everyone expected her to have a plan to get them out of trouble or to fight people. When she drank the poison tea every reacted for like a good few minutes then forgot about it and comforted jaune instead of trying to find a way to help or find Ruby. Yang wasn't really a good sister in vol 9 she was mainly focused on Blake and their relationship which yes I'm glad bumbleby happened but they were incredibly selfish to start the relationship while in the Everafter when Ruby needed comfort the most, and when Yang saw that Ruby was stressed and upset she didn't bother to comfort her but instead protect Blake who was rightfully going to be yelled at. Ruby needed comfort more then anything yet she didn't get any comfort until the last episode when the damage was already done. She got attacked by Neo's illusions and those people were: Penny, Ironwood, and everyone else she lost. The illusions constantly told her it was her fault they were dead and that beacon was destroyed which of course put Ruby in a state of depression and sadness that turned into anger and frustration as it would for anybody. She lost Penny twice, saw Pyrrah die, almost watched Jaune die, almost saw her teammates die so many times. And just because she hasn't taken accountability doesn't make her a brat. She has nothing and no one to apologize for or to she did what she could and she finally reached her breaking point after everything was placed on her. The weight of saving Oscar, saving her uncle and Robyn, taking down the main antagonist whilst fighting cinder and neo on top of that. She's worried about everyone yet everyone has rarely shown care for her doing Vol 8-9. She deserves better.

That's not how you handle someone handling a mental breakdown. She lost at LEAST 2 friends TO DEATH. Penny TWICE and she was CLOSE to Penny. She's two years younger than the others. She essentially went to a fighting high school at age 15, when most folks started at 17. She's now 17 when everyone else is now 19. She's handling the burden of being expected to be perfect and always know what to do. In the end, she's still a minor with the expectations and responsibilities of an adult. You don't slap a child when they are overwhelmed. You sit the child down and ask what's wrong and what you can do to help them feel less overwhelmed. Slapping Ruby wouldn't help in this instance. The best way for her to get a hold of herself is to let herself let out her bottled up emotions like she just did and let her cry it out. Let her feel her feelings and then help support her through the aftermath of her emotional outburst
