Mathew, thanks a lot...your narration is so subtle...yet so informative....it expresses the thinking artist mind continuously. Its easy to point out at others painting...but when you actually do that...its challenging....I love it when you decided to give that extra glow to the building on left with raw sienna....Enjoyed thoroughly. Thank you🙏🙏

This is so helpful! I love how you chose a scene where the sky isn't the highest value. It's great to see how you handled it.
I'm impressed by how much of a difference the dark details make. I also loved how the second layer on the road was instantly effective in balancing the values and bringing the focus back on the sunlit buildings.
I have a question : how did you manage to paint in the first light blue layer of sky without the yellow and the blue mixing together into an unfortunate green or grey?
    Thank you ❤

One of the best watercolor demo/tutorial I have ever seen. What paper did you use? what advice on brushes and how to select brushes useful for this approach?

That sky really makes the buildings stand out. It’s just the right tone of blue. Thank you.
One thing I find very difficult when using your method is in the first wash of light tones. The paper is damp on both sides. How can we avoid the colours blending together on damp paper? Your spires in this video had good hard edges and did not blend with the sky. What’s the trick?

So Matt - are you saying that your paper was wet or damp the WHOLE time you were painting this up to the middle values? How is that possible? I live in Arizona and my paper dries so dang fast in the summer!
