  • What can Europe learn about decarbonization from the US Green New Deal? How can climate action now save costs for healthcare later? Do we need more advanced renewable energy technologies to successfully reduce carbon emissions at the necessary rates?
For #AtlanticDebrief, Carol Schaeffer spoke with Mark Z. Jacobson, Professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering and Director of the Atmosphere/Energy Program at Stanford University about what challenges policymakers need to consider in developing renewable energy infrastructure.
You can watch #AtlanticDebrief on UA-cam and as a podcast.

They must take example from initiatives like the American Green New Deal, while adapting their strategies to their own realities and needs. This will require strong political commitment and massive investments in renewable energies and energy efficiency. They can no longer afford to delay action in the face of the climate emergency and its potentially devastating consequences for their planet and societies. Thanks Carol and Dr Mark

maybe my name will give a clue how i feel about this but at one point this guy dismisses solar geoengineering as useless. but he simply doesn't know that and what he is advocating for would do nothing in the face of runaway climate change. solar geoengineering WOULD be useful in that scenario which is precisely why it is being taken seriously. because rapid runaway climate change is something that absolutely cant be ruled out.
