Marvel ( and DC ) make great animated series... 90s TAS Xmen and Spiderman obviously especially but shout out to F4, IM and Hulk. SS was okay and Ultron was great in that terrible Avengers show with a few good episodes but xmen tas voices 😂... Avengers EMH, Evolution, Spectacular Spiderman, I even liked elements of Ultimate Spiderman and wish we got a legit Spiderman show than added teams and other characters... Not to mention DC... Timmverse, TT, YJ, GL TAS, All the Batman shows... Etc... But where Marvel and DC are equal in series, animated movies DC is king. Marvel has a few okay ones with this by far being the best but it's not saying much. I wish we got Marvel stories especially big crossovers in animated movie form.
Next to Hugh Jackman, Steve Blum is such an amazing Wolverine! He is such an iconic voice actor and his Wolverine to me is what Kevin Conroy is to Batman. Legends!
You can thank Boyd Kirkland, Craig Kyle, and Chris Yost for most of the good Marvel animated shows and some of the straight to DVD movies from the last 20 years. They were the showrunners/main writers on X-Men: Evolution, Wolverine and the X-Men and Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes. The only show they didn't work on was Spectacular Spider-Man. Boyd Kirkland had previously worked on Batman: The Animated Series, he directed a bunch of episodes and was a director on Mask of the Phantasm. Sadly, Kirkland passed away in 2011. Craig Kyle and Chris Yost also created X-23 and worked on the MCU Thor movies. They tried to make a Marvel animated universe. Their three shows are lightly connected. But unfortunately, Marvel was in pretty rough financial shape at the time and they couldn't take advantage of the opportunity.
those shows were so good but IIRC Marvel canned them all to make new MCU adjacent animated universe where all the shows were loosely based on the MCU versions. Like theres one episode where Iron man says "Ultron's back!" when it was literally his first appearance in the Avengers Assemble cartoon. Then I realized it was meant to be MCU adjacent so they mean something similar to Age of Ultron also occurred in the Avengers Assemble show, hence Ultron is now back after being defeated in Age of Ultron.

I really really wish Spider-Man got an animated movie during this time. Sure the Spiderverse movies are peak but a movie about the best superhero during this around this time could’ve been sooo goood
My guess as to why there wasn’t an animated Spider-Man movie is because outside of the games, Marvel didn’t own the TV rights to Spider-Man as Sony owned both the movie & tv rights. It wasn’t until Disney bought Marvel that Sony lost the TV rights to the Web-Head, and because of this, Marvel was able to make animated shows off of him and included him in the animated shows starting with EMH. This is why Spectacular Spider-Man was cancelled.

When Wolverine appears in the new avengers episode of EMH, you see his shadow slaughtering those dinosaurs. You even see blood spilling in the shadow. They managed to still show his brutality on EMH. It's awesome!
When Wolverine pops his claws on either side of Bruce's face, this was done WAY back in God loves, man kills graphic novel (1982). Wolverine was interrogating a purifer, a merc sent by Reverend William Stryker. Wolverine pops one claw, then a second and asks if he wants the 3rd. Oddly Magneto stops Wolverine.

I remember being bored and turning this movie on Netflix when I was like 12 with some friends and the entire time we were just flabbergasted at how it kept getting more and more violent, it was CRAZY lol Banger movie tho & banger video, Mauricio 🙏
I always watch this before I rewatch Wolverine and the X-men/Avengers: EMH, and it really feels like a great expansive Marvel universe. Weapon X appears with similar designs and voice actors, and the X-23 plot line is somewhat continued from this film. And there's even episode :"Wolverine vs. the Hulk" that references this film greatly (with some continuity errors)
I bought this when it first came out on DVD, and then on Blu-ray. To this very day, when The Wife ain't home, I pop it in, crank the volume to window rattling levels, and enjoy the carnage! It's so good that I don't even care that Lady Deathstrike or Omega Red were never a part of the Weapon X Project. It's just that good! I already knew that I was going to like "Hulk vs Wolverine" before I even bought the DVD. What surprised me was that I LOVED "Hulk vs Thor"! He may be possessed by Loki for the first part, but he pounds the living Hel outta the Gods of Asgard! Then when Hulk is finally released in Hel... I'll just type that I had a huge grin on my face! I can't wait to see how you like it (or why you don't) after a rewatch.
It's been more than 10 years since I watched this film but I have such fond memories of it. Thank you for making this video, I've been really looking forward to it! You are one of my favourite channels because you are just as passionate about animation and do your best to shed light on the medium!
I understand the Deadpool story perfectly. When I was like five or six, I used to collect the DC Universe Classics figures, but I'd always go for the weird obscure characters. My Dad would be like "Look it's Green Arrow!" and I'd get Eclipso or Doctor Mid-Nite. And now they're expensive.
@@Browntable thanks, the ones I have might even be more valuable than the popular characters. They all had collect and connect pieces for build-a-figures, but the only one I completed was Ultra-Humanite. I came so close to finishing Trigon, but I lost his butt.
Look I’m gonna be entirely down to earth and honest here The Deadpool in Hulk VS is my favorite version of Deadpool. Nolan North’s voice work is incredible as always and I always loved how he played buddy buddy with the baddies up until everything went south and then he tried to flip flop onto Wolverine’s team.
Fun fact: In the beginning, it was supposed to be a movie of X Men vs Ultimate Avengers (adapting the Ultimate War story) where the Ultimates invade Charles Xavier school for holding Magneto prisoner, instead of killing him like it seemed to happened the first arc of Ultimate X-Men comic. That was scrapped for this instead, but always imagine how it could have been.
Sidenote: sabertooth's healing factor is actually stronger than wolverine's, who's healing factor is gimped by his adamantium skeleton ironically. In fact, as per lore, sabertooth is just an amped up logan. Stronger, way more feral, and faster
Marvel should make an animated universe like the dcamu, they probably have the budget since disney owns them, also i miss when hulks hair was green lmao
Your Deadpool Toy Story is similar to one of mine. As a kid I bought Pokémon colosseum for like $3 at GameStop as a used game. Worked perfectly fine and I was told it would work in a Wii. I didn’t have a GameCube so I was happy and got it. Later I tried to play it but it didn’t work because I didn’t use the classic remote. We brought it back to the GameStop and the guy said he didn’t know what was wrong. A couple months later I found out about the classic remotes working for GameCube games… I HAD ONE MY MOM USED IT ALL THE TIME!! Nowadays the game alone can go for like $200-$300. I’m so pissed and still have never forgiven myself. Whenever people have asked if I had the chance to go back in time to change anything… yeah my answer is to fix returning colosseum, I have no other regret in my life outside of that.
The same artist worked on The Batman and TMNT? Makes perfect sense....this wAs JUST before disney made that deal when Marvel Studios was about to become the powerhouse we hoped it would be before the mouse came in right when the economy crashed 🤦🏽♂️ Oh the good ol days of the Yost universe
How would you guys feel if Marvel adapted storylines like Annihilation, Secret Wars 1984 or 2014, Infinity, Hickman’s run on the Fantastic Four, the Children’s Crusade ?
It’s incredible that I randomly came across this awesome mini series for the first time as a kid when i found a physical copy of the double feature Hulk VS. Films at the front of a Target checkout aisle with the special cover that changes art when you turn it from side to side.
So, just a few pet peeves of mine with this movie because i am a huge Marvel (in geberal) fan. The Villains were portrayed too weak here. Lady Deathstrike, Deadpool, Omega Red and especially Sabertooth are all villains who by themselves are big threats to Logan and to see them basically only have a single scene portraying them strong (when they beat Wolverine in the second encounter) always kinda itched me the wrong way. For instance, i don’t blame you for thinking that, but Sabertooth is actually the one with the better healing factor, not Wolverine. But again, Pet Peeves.
Browntable, you have NO idea how much I appreciate this series. These movies practically introduced me to marvel, and they certainly got me hooked, so I’m glad that someone’s covering them 🗣️
My uncle showed me this one and the other one on Netflix back in the day and man, I had a lot of fun watching them both. My mom on the other hand thought it was too too violent for me to watch. 😂
To be honest, I prefer Hulk vs Thor in terms of how strong Hulk is and how he practically broke Asgard within the day. But I won't deny how good the story telling is in Hulk vs Wolverine. Within around half and hour, we get to know how the Wolverine was created and a brief tendencies of the Hulk. He's not just a stupid rampaging monster, but someone who would try to save people from disasters and generally just want to be left alone.
Knowing that THIS started the golden age of Marvel animation, with the two de-facto voices for Wolverine and Hulk, it’s pretty nice to see that it still holds up incredibly well. I’m glad you’re giving it the spotlight it deserves, at least for a little bit.
The same year (2009) the animated series Wolverine and the X-men was a pretty baller show! They also did a episode with Hulk and Wolverine in the Canadian north tracking down the Wendigo. This was a hype time for Marvel animated work!

14:29 It catches me off guard that in this movie Logan's eyes are brown, and in Wolverine and the x-men, his eyes are cyan/light blue. They're both connected.
- 20% a 157 times better story than X Men Origins Wolverine
- 10% tying Hulk to the Weapon X program
- 10% Steve Blum being the GOAT
- 60% screaming
I remember being bored and turning this movie on Netflix when I was like 12 with some friends and the entire time we were just flabbergasted at how it kept getting more and more violent, it was CRAZY lol
Banger movie tho & banger video, Mauricio 🙏
I always watch this before I rewatch Wolverine and the X-men/Avengers: EMH, and it really feels like a great expansive Marvel universe.
Weapon X appears with similar designs and voice actors, and the X-23 plot line is somewhat continued from this film. And there's even episode :"Wolverine vs. the Hulk" that references this film greatly (with some continuity errors)
13:51 "I love violence”
*cue the Spiderverse Prowler theme*
Me: I should’ve gotten an earlier marvel legends Deadpool figure from the 2000s
Fun fact: apparently Nolan North improvised all his Deadpool dialogue for the movie.
That's why he's awesome.
*One of Marvel's best animations, Imagine a Hulk VS Wolverine film with the same vibe as this animation in theaters, It would be incredible*
Favorite early animated incarnation of Deadpool. Short but so well done.
5:10
i wonder whats his thoughts on comic accurate short wolverine from the new deadpool movie
It's been more than 10 years since I watched this film but I have such fond memories of it. Thank you for making this video, I've been really looking forward to it! As others have pointed out, I really miss Marvel 2D animation and it's such a pitiful shame that all of their upcoming animated projects seem to be purely 3D (including X-Men '97 and Spider-Man: Freshman Year). You are one of my favourite channels because you are just as passionate about animation and do your best to shed light on the medium!
6:56 That reminded me back when I saw 2012 Turtles fight Shredder for the first time. Same reaction!
15:21 "I can fix her" 💀
Lady deathstrike and Deadpool were str8 up the best parts of the movie from what I remember and ofc you have the goat Steve Blum voicing Logan
You forgot about the post credit scene where Deadpool is revealed to still be alive.
And gets flattened by Hulk.
3 nickels weird amount of times that’s happened
I understand the Deadpool story perfectly. When I was like five or six, I used to collect the DC Universe Classics figures, but I'd always go for the weird obscure characters. My Dad would be like "Look it's Green Arrow!" and I'd get Eclipso or Doctor Mid-Nite. And now they're expensive.
So cool fr fr
@@Browntable thanks, the ones I have might even be more valuable than the popular characters. They all had collect and connect pieces for build-a-figures, but the only one I completed was Ultra-Humanite. I came so close to finishing Trigon, but I lost his butt.
“Anyways… I fucking bought him” 😂😂😂 best shit ever to say as you get older and find those figures you spent years trying to find / buy
"I am Marvel Jesus you dull creature and i would not be- ahck!"
Jeff Matsuda was also a comic penciler in the late 90's who did a run on Wolverine. He was MADE for this film.
i remember getting the dvds as a kid and watching this movie every single day. Wolverine was my absolute favorite
Look I’m gonna be entirely down to earth and honest here
The Deadpool in Hulk VS is my favorite version of Deadpool.
Deadpool putting his arm back together is one of my favorite Deadpool moments
Steve Blum and Fred Tatasciore Four arms and Heatblast respectively throwing hands.
LMAO
19:28
I can’t believe he missed the post-credit scene with Deadpool!
Sidenote: sabertooth's healing factor is actually stronger than wolverine's, who's healing factor is gimped by his adamantium skeleton ironically. In fact, as per lore, sabertooth is just an amped up logan. Stronger, way more feral, and faster
6:16 I’d like to see some of his famous storylines adapted
That marvel legends deadpool story was the realest part of the video
"I think we lost him!" Genuinely this deadpool made me love the character .
This was the first Marvel animated thing I ever saw & I'm so glad it still holds up! The Deadpool cameo is still so fun.
18:06 Nice foreshadowing to Deadpool and Wolverine
Marvel should make an animated universe like the dcamu, they probably have the budget since disney owns them, also i miss when hulks hair was green lmao
Wasn’t it green in The Incredible Hulk?
@@ninjanibba4259 yea but that was still 16 years ago
I also miss when the hulk was the hulk. Seeing him in this fantastic film made me hate the mcu hulk more than i already do.
@@VilaToro64 endgame had a good hulk imo, because his arc was completed, but if they continue with him he should return to being savage
A couple months later I found out about the classic remotes working for GameCube games…
I HAD ONE MY MOM USED IT ALL THE TIME!!
Makes perfect sense....this wAs JUST before disney made that deal when Marvel Studios was about to become the powerhouse we hoped it would be before the mouse came in right when the economy crashed 🤦🏽♂️
Oh the good ol days of the Yost universe
I watched this with my dad years ago and I still remember so much about it, watching dead pool pieces the parts of his sliced up arm together.
"don't let your dreams being dreams."
thank you for the sentence, man.
Here comes The Wolverine voice in the end credits bubs. 20:13
Marvel needs to go back to making quality animated movies and shows again.
Absolutely agreed
How would you guys feel if Marvel adapted storylines like Annihilation, Secret Wars 1984 or 2014, Infinity, Hickman’s run on the Fantastic Four, the Children’s Crusade ?
@@comicbookking3446 I think that would be awesome, I think it would be so cool if they adapted world war hulk.
It’s incredible that I randomly came across this awesome mini series for the first time as a kid when i found a physical copy of the double feature Hulk VS. Films at the front of a Target checkout aisle with the special cover that changes art when you turn it from side to side.
7:04 it's possible in live action, it's in X-Men 1 lol
4:45 when he says the army guy, I’m 90% sure that’s general thunderbolt Ross
I love this movie, it was a love letter to Wolverine's first appearance. And it was violent enough to show him use his claws. I loved it!
LEGENDARY FADE
Also what i love about this movie is that there are no bone claws, just like the original wolverine before the retcons
When I was a kid watching this on my PS2
I used to think wolverine was drinking milk
Browntable, you have NO idea how much I appreciate this series. These movies practically introduced me to marvel, and they certainly got me hooked, so I’m glad that someone’s covering them 🗣️
This and Thor vs Hulk are peak
Damn, this was an amazing era for Marvel animation and then Disney just...shat all over it.
The same year (2009) the animated series Wolverine and the X-men was a pretty baller show!
They also did a episode with Hulk and Wolverine in the Canadian north tracking down the Wendigo.
This was a hype time for Marvel animated work!
Actually, Deadpool survived the movie....then Hulk stomped on him...but he still survived.
These movies used to be some of the only superhero content I had access to. I wish they brought these kinds of movies back.
When will Disney marvel snap out of it and continue to make bangers from this universe again.
The marvel snap ads are so good, they should use the budget and make a movie in the style of them
@@BigFatMonkey9629true
I still cry at the irony of Marvel;s animation getting worse after Disney acquisition
Tbh Marvels what if is alright doe
@@anond5754 There are decent episodes but it's a bit undercooked and reminds me too much of those straight to dvd movies they did. Imo they should've taken the path of Star Wars Visions.
@@kiptelgat When you say SWV do you mean like animation wise? I haven’t really watched vision tbh.
All the chefs in this Marvel kitchen served up a straight-up masterpiece.
Sadly, the recipe was never written down for the other cooks to faithfully recreate its perfect taste.
I love the kind of hulk that will actually just kill me
