    Idea: use the same process with marbling first as the bottom layer so the good side is on top, then the UV dots, then clear. I think you would still be able to see they are 3D dots with the clear being on top but they’d be flat to set things on!

      I think you can work around this problem by making the dots a semi transparent color instead of clear with glitter, this way when you put the clear on you can see the whole drop as is it

    For the raindrop effect if you want to keep the 3-D aspect of it, fill your coaster mold with the base color that you want first (any solid color) let it cure, and then do a layer of just clear and let that go tacky… and on a separate sheet of wax paper or silicone (anything that resin won’t stick to) put your dots of UV resin in whatever colors or glitter-then set them with the uv light to cure so you can pick them off and then set them on the tacky, clear resin in the coasters.
    That way you’ll have the texture and the 3-D aspect of the rain dots. I hope I explain that in a way that made sense to you. Lol love your videos. You crack me up! 😊👍🏻💜

    Hi Julie! I had to pause the video to let you know about that “skin” you were talking about. (I knew that if I didn’t do it now, I’d forget! lol) It wasn’t the torching that caused it, it was because your little cups were too close to the UV lamp. I literally cover up any UV resin I have out before I turn on my lamp. Ask me how I know to do that… 🤣🤣🤣

    Marbles. Use marbles for your drops and use a see-through colored resin for the 3-d drop look. Place the resin as a basecoat fit your marbles in where you want them then fill with the rest of the resin. OR use the UV resin to create marbles to place them as stated previously. Just my thought after watching. These coasters were so cool I really liked them and I like the idea of UV resin quick and simple!

    Wow, crazy this video just showed up in my notifications, it’s dated the 9th of March. I never not get notification or miss your videos.
    ❤ beautiful design. ❤
    my advice to you when working with UV resin keep your uncured resin further away, from your lamp. It will cure if it’s nearby. Been there done that. And UV resin prefers clear mold to cure from top and bottom.
    3 D rain drops that she does is layer of what ever color resin you chose, cure it. Rain with a touch of drops, cure it. Clear top coat. Three layer process.

    Julie, you could try laying a small black layer down, put the drops on & set. Then do the chameleon all over the top & then clear. That's how I saw people do it when they were using the soap bubbles on top. Even if the whole base is chameleon, the drops show up 3d & different colors bc of the curvature of the drops & the shiftiness of the chameleon!

    I'm so glad you like UV resin, Julie! Some day, you may want to try Let's Resin's low viscosity UV resin for doming. It's da bomb! The doming it does is just gorgeous and so, so easy.
    ~~~Another idea (brain is racing!): Place a layer of clear UV or epoxy resin on the bottom & lightly cure it. Make & cure your droplets, turn over, dome/build them up on the flat side & cure, OR turn them over and put chameleon powder on the backs, then...
    Place into the lightly cured resin, cure it a bit longer, then top with clear epoxy. THAT might look *really* cool and very 3D.
    ** Yes, you need to cure UV on both sides. 😊👍
    The UV resin needs to be on a reflective or clear bottom for the light to shine through and harden /cure it.With the white mould it did not penetrate the light enough to dry/cure it-I learned that the hard way 😂Best if you can cure or get the light from both sides. Great job and beautiful coasters ❤
    Really beautiful coasters! I just bought my first UV resin kit. The maker strongly recommends using a transparent or translucent mold. Just so you can flip it over if you need to cure the back. Actually, the instructions recommend flipping the mold over to cure the back if you have a deep mold. I have been watching Sherry Moulton making resin jewelry. She doesn't show flipping over, and she is just as detail oriented as you. That's why I watch as many of her videos as I do your resin pours. You both are awesome with sharing your experiments with us. I hope someone else is more helpful than I am. But I know it helps your channel when people comment. Even if it's just to say "I love it", I always try to leave a comment. I don't fib, I haven't seen a video of yours I didn't love.
    I have a suggestion Julie, what if you mix a drop or two of alcohol ink into your UV resin with the glitters etc then make your droplets on a mirror that has been sprayed with silicone spray and then set with the UV light, that way both sides should be hard. Pour your grey and white normal resin for the base and before it is finished setting up place your droplets onto it and then after another 5 or 10 minutes pour your clear over. You will have the 3D effect of the droplets then and the marble look background. Love this new mold ❣️❤️
    Having a big of experience with UV resin as it is my preferred resin, you really sure use more translucent molds for it. White or colored molds don't do well since the UV can't get thru it.
    I usually do a 3 minute cure per layer, then a 5-10 minute cure after my project is done, on all sides that have the UV resin in it (in my case, all sides). This makes sure everything is cured properly.
    But I am looking forward to you learning more with UV resin.
    I’m back again! They may not be what you were hoping for, but I think they’re really cute…especially the pink one! I finished the video and just have another tip for you. If your UV resin isn’t perfectly clear, the UV rays from the lamp cannot penetrate it. Therefore the bottom (the part not showing) will not cure. That’s why they were sticky when you took them out. If you need to use an opaque/semi-opaque color in your UV resin, like in this case, the only work around I know of is to use a clear silicone mold. That way after you put them under the lamp like usual, you can then turn the lamp upside down and cure the bottoms THROUGH the clear silicone. This method would work for coasters but nothing deeper than that. If it’s deeper, then the center of your piece would be uncured.
    Carrying forward with @Courtney Bright 's idea of making the base first... If the glittery UV raindrops were lightly colored with resin DYE (translucent), then cured, *then* covered with *clear* resin, we should be able to see them _as_ droplets.
    ~~~ the droplets can be cured in several layers so that they are *really* 3D looking. I've done it with UV resin jewelry.
    ~~~ The droplets can also be cured, painted on the back, then placed on the base with more UV resin to hold in place, then covered with clear resin. Looks pretty darned good, either way! 😊💕
    Yes, UV resin can be torched or spritzed w/alcohol.
    They’re really pretty, I love the glitter mix. Maybe to get the 3D water droplets to stand out, try lightly tinting the 2 part epoxy that you’re pouring over them with a transparent alcohol ink in a contrasting color? Could maybe even do another layer with a color shift after that? Or tint the droplets slightly, then pour clear? Alcohol ink will inhibit the cure of UV resin so, it would need to be just a non-alcoholic transparent ink.. learned that the hard way.😆 I watched Tea and Art’s video where she placed water droplets on the back of a frog, a snail and a lizard. It’s a great technique, they turned out wonderful. Can’t wait to see what else you do with it!😊
Then pour into the mold, the silicone oil helps the ink disperse giving the marble affect
      Me too! When I started watching the newest one, she mentioned the 2 attempts & I only remembered watching the leopard print one so I clicked & found this!
    Marble ,glitter drops, micro powder then clear perhaps with tinge of darker colour but transparent. Matbe that will turn out like yr frog with marble effects. Idk. Just babbling i think. Hahaha
    Oh yeah heart will set the uv resin too. Ya have to be careful not to set the lil cups too close to the lamp... It will cure it
    Uv resin is always tacky after, even when u get ur nails done they r tacky, just wipe over them with a bit of isopropyl alcohol, same as nail techs do
    UV resin needs to be cured with a transparent mold… the light can’t penetrate through the opaque/colored molds…
    To do 3d rain drops maybe use ink to tint the rain slightly, then top with clear?
