      Hi Anthony, the train looked great as always, glad I got to see it in the afternoon light this year. The pulp mill project is progressing well with that main building now about 95% complete. I was impressed by what you did with the Magic Pan Bakeries building. That's another one I have to build and find a home for. Could be a good year for the model railway. Cheers, David.

    Great video of the Holiday Train It was in Didsbury on Dec 8th x Your Mill is coming along,looks like it will be fun to do operations in that area,Merry Christmas and have a Happy New Year to you and your family,see you in 2024.

      Hi Ray. The train certainly was spectacular this year and it's good to know they run it north out of Calgary. The pulp mill has advanced (a bit) since making this video, enough to let me try some operations. I either have to find more space or it is going to be a nightmare trying to switch that area. All the best to you and your family at Christmas and in the new year. David.

    Merry Christmas David! Cool shots of the Holiday Train and yes, I have to paint the inside walls of the buildings as well to prevent glowing. I also dullcoat the inside of the windows so I don't have to add details on the inside.

    • @trainsontuesday
      @trainsontuesday  10 місяців тому +1

      Hi Jason. I wonder if CPKC will be extending the Christmas train into Mexico next year? I wondered about adding a dullcoat to the windows but what I generally do is add some shading or light deflection. This building has most of it's windows on the side close to the walls so I will hang landscape fabric inside to prevent reflection off the wall. Have a great Christmas and New Year. David.

    Happy Christmas to you and your family David. It was lovely to see the Christmas Train with its excellent illuminations. The coaches at the back looked wonderful. That building is indeed massive. I'm looking forward to seeing more work on it. All the best for 2024 too

      Yes, CPKC do a wonderful job with the Holiday Train. It is spectacular to see but that is just the cosmetics of it. The real shining star of it all is the corporate spirit of the railway in raising donations for food banks across the country. The pulp mill is taking over my railway. It is going to require much more space than I originally envisioned, I'm not really sure how I am going to manage it. The next update should be revealing.
      All the best for Christmas and the New Year and perhaps we will meet up again in 2024. David.

    Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you too, Davi! It as great to meet up earlier in the year. Your pulp mill building is beginning to look impressive! The "Holiday Train" is an impressive thing too; we don't really have anything like that in the UK. All the best, Steve

      Hi Steve. Yes, it was good to see you again, hopefully it won't be too long before I'm back again for an extended holiday. I cannot think of a way that the British railway system could put on a train like the CPKC Holiday Train. The logistics would be too great. My pulp mill is beginning to push me out of the space I created for it. It is going to be interesting to see how it all unfolds. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. David.

    What an amazing Train David with all those flashing lights.
    Not much clearance through that doorway. 🥺😅
    Merry Christmas from Monsville Railways, Australia.
    Stay safe.

    • @trainsontuesday
      @trainsontuesday  10 місяців тому

      Hi Mon, yes, CPKC do a wonderful job with that train, it lifts the spirits in these cold dark days. Not too cold this year though.
      Great observation on the door clearance. In real life it is the excess height boxcars that are used for pulp and paper so I wanted to replicate that. Also on the model of the building there is a support sill across the bottom of the doorway. Once all construction is complete and I know exactly where I'm going to put the building I'll cut that support out and that will drop the track enough to be noticeable.
      Have a great summertime Christmas and New Years in Aus. Cheers, David.

    Nice one, David. Seems like you and I were neck in neck for the final stretch into town, I must have been too focused on the train to notice you. I especially enjoyed your point of view at McCracken, I would have liked to film from there as well, but we arrived with barely enough time to set up at the crossing. Happy Holidays to you and your family.

    The Holiday Train looked really good. Where did it go to and from? Were those sleeper cars between the coaches and if so I can imagine the the tickets cost a fortune. The paper mill is, as you say, enormous, but a great addition. Cheers Michael

    • @trainsontuesday
      @trainsontuesday  10 місяців тому +1

      Hello Michael. The Holiday Train is an annual event started by Canadian Pacific, now Canadian Pacific Kansas City. It is a holiday cheer and charity train that runs all across the CPKC network. One side of one of the boxcars folds down to make a stage where musical acts perform and dignitaries make speeches. It stops in many communities, 3 or4 on that day alone. CPKC hands out cheques for the local food bank in each community and the food banks are on hand to collect donations from the community. The train is basically self contained with food and sleeping facilities for the support crews and performers. This years train had one coach full of passengers including children and I am assuming that they were the families of the crews. There are no public tickets to ride this train as far as I know. The event has become so large that it takes two of these trains to cover just the old CP routes traveling for a whole month. This one starts in Toronto I believe and finishes in Vancouver. Now that CP owns the Kansas City lines they may have to add one or two more holiday trains as they run all the way to Mexico City.
      My pulp mill is too large for the baseboard space I have available (7'X2'), I am rethinking the whole project but I am committed to it now. It is a challenging build.
      Merry Christmas, Happy New Year.
      Regards, David.
