I bought 3 five gallon buckets of used carbs from a big shop and spent all winter rebuilding them and ultra sonic cleaner with new kits, I love rebuilding Holley and quad jets back in the day 😊😊
I've got a T230XB that i bought brand new around 2003-06... Or real close to that time frame.. Mine has the blue color plastic.
I've worked professional lawn and landscaping most of my life.. I'm 49 years old. Worked for several different high end companies and also ran my own part time lawn maintenance business while working full time for others...
All that to said to get to this ..
I've ran and operated pretty much every commercial high end string trimmer/walk behind mower/zero turn mower out there.
These older Shindaiwa T230X trimmers from around this period are hands down, IMO the best trimmer for 'grass trimming' that's ever been or will ever be made. Echo, Stihl, Kawasaki, Newer Shindaiwa, ... I've spent hours with all of them..
these older Shindaiwa's are in a league of their own.
I don't care what anyone says... I've spent hours behind the new Shins and they are a good trimmer, Stihl makes a good player too ...
But none of em has that kinda power to weight ratio as these old T230s... None of em will out run, outlast, these old killer little Japanese 2 stroke bad boys.
My old 230 is close to twenty years old and has seen tons of use. The only thing I've had to replace is the throttle/trigger assembly a few years back. Nothing else. Starts on the 2nd 3rd pull everytime.
The old pre 2007 Shindaiwa’s are the best… Echo ruined them. I was on FB Marketplace & found a pre EPA Shindaiwa T-27 in like new condition. I told em I traveled 6 hours for this Shindaiwa. DAMN! Just for this? Yea, I’ll never find one in this condition. If I had to buy new Maruyama would be my pick today…. (Made in Japan, lighter weight & a 5 year commercial warranty)
Excellent presentation. Clear, concise, accurate information.
Although it eventually attained high speed at full throttle, adjusting the H carb needle to a more rich setting would likely get it there more quickly.
Just dug a big plug of flour of of the fuel filter on one. Always suspect ethanol.
I use brake cleaner to blow thru port in block to make sure it clear to work fuel pump
I put it upside down too. It was given to me apart.
Mine is smoking..you know why?
