The performance of the new app is a joke. It is so slow and buggy. Literally takes a second or two to respond to adding or removing a speaker to what is playing. Also, once a song starts playing, it never shows the song and artist on the card. Mine is always blank. No way to tell what is playing without going back to the song list. I am now on UA-cam figuring out a way to play on all of my Sonos speakers through the Spotify app. I have a few speakers that don't have Airplay built in so can't play to those speakers without the app. I am ready to leave the Sonos app for good!
The new Sonos app is unfortunately at least 2 steps backwards … sorry guys but in almost 15 years it’s the first time I think about to change out the system completely. Means 20 speakers . - slow - unreliable - system hangs often - does not react on commandos - running music in rooms - does not show in the app - volume control does not work Something must happen. What happen to the developers.
Thanks Sonos for completely changing the app so my 75 year old father has absolutely no idea how to use, so now I get to go over and teach him an entirely new way to use his speakers.

I feel Sonos needs to put out a statement immediately about how to they plan to fix this release and it can't be "wait a few weeks". Put out a statement that speaks directly to what features you plan to BRING BACK and which ones you aren't because right now users have to assume you have shifted your focus from users being able to curate their own playlists and music to just subscribing to a streaming services and letting it choose. Frankly, a nice bluetooth speaker, an old phone, and youtube music or apple music have better features than the Sonos experience. Personally, I wouldn't be upset if I knew this was coming and could prepare (i.e. not download the app).

Same problem here. I dont think you can, unless you have a pc version. I have rolled back to s2 16.1 i found it on apk mirror mentioned in another community forum. However it automatically updated back to s2 80.0 Even though i have turned off automatic updates.
After some hesitation, I bought a Denon HEOS device (RCD-N12). Cheaper than a Sonos AMP which I was also considering, plenty of power, great sound, also has HDMI ARC, looks better, has a nice display, comes with a great remote, lots more features (CD drive, FM/DAB+, Phono input, Bluetooth in/out). Needed to install "MinimServer" on the NAS and apply some MP3Tag changes (clear 'Album' and "Track#" tag for "misc" folders), but that was all easy + free, my experience is now for the most part better than it ever was with Sonos. Library rescan now takes 10-20 seconds (happens internally on the NAS) instead of 15-30 minutes (a gazillion network calls over Wifi).
Ever since I upgraded I can’t add my speakers to the app. I have an ark beam 2 300s and 2 subs that I cant use at all because it keeps saying Sonos needs local network access when it’s already enabled and I can’t get any further than that screen. Over 3000$ in speakers that I can’t use please fix. I’m also a salesperson FOR your speakers so this is not a good look.
I was going to buy the Sonos sound system 😢I’m so glad I have not. I’m not savvy at all with all the Functions Features missing, everyone is concerned about how crucial Functions Features are that are missing I would be so lost with this system. I would be terrified to spend this amount of money😢. SONOS DO SOMETHING TO FIX THIS!
I’m 27 and I’ve never been so confused by an app before, I’ve been using it for months with trial and error and still haven’t figured out what I’m doing. Stunningly bad UX.
I cannot believe they have not resolved this music library issue after Three months. Simple thought if they were able have such a feature before why not now ? Cynical me believes the fact this updated app focuses on subscription streaming services suggests this is deliberate. If they have promoted and sold products by claiming local library playback as a feature but are now trying to remove and force you in to subscriptions.
Thank you Sonos for making my system mute by forcing an upgrade and now I can’t access a simple TV. I did enjoy watch a smug guy talk about how simple it is to do stuff, except for the basics, which no longer function.
This update was long-awaited since it was announced, but to be honest, it was a bittersweet experience. There are improvements regarding music access, the organization of the main tab, and the maintenance of speaker group settings, which used to disconnect after a while when grouped. I haven't been able to test if the speaker version update issues were resolved. However, I believe UI/UX is an important factor and they mostly deliver with this update. However, it's also disappointing that some features from the previous version were removed, like the playlist queue, the ability to see the audio quality, and adjusting equalization without entering the speaker settings. The alarm clock, although I don't use it, is missed by other users. Some elements that were once easily accessible on the interface are now more hidden. The mobile version is okay, but the iPad version isn't entirely convincing; it feels like it lacks a bit more width in the tab when selecting or adjusting speaker groups. An iOS widget without third-party apps is missing. Adjusting the volume of grouped speakers from the TV remote control, not just within the mobile or web app, is also lacking. There's much room for improvement and correction, and I hope they're addressed in future updates.
Nothing about the UX is better, apart from the graphics. I have like 9 different lists piled on top of what I actually want to get to (my home library- as I mostly listen to things that streaming services DON'T have. - I literally have about 100gig of incredibly irreplaceable vintage reggae. Spotify ain't gonna cover it. My library is like 4 swipes down on a weird main menu completely separated from the current zone feature. The immediate tap on the zone will only bring up the whole zone volume, not all of the independent speaker sets in a given zone. This new version is MORE complicated, LESS intuitive, and requires MORE interaction to achieve what could previously be done in a second or two. It's trash.
Hi Thomas, here is a support article on how to set and manage your alarms via the new Sonos app. Hope this is helpful: support.sonos.com/article/set-an-alarm-on-sonos
How can SONOS butcher their own app?! Give me back control of the queue. My speakers just turned into thousands of dollars worth of paper weights. There should be an option to revert to the old app view until the kinks are worked out.
Installed the new app on my iPad and iPhone , now I can’t see my music library. Spoke to Sonos they said use a desktop ! Please sort this out, or go back to the old version or better still have two versions available until this mess is sorted.
I don't know what it is about your clothes and appearance, but as a person from the West Coast of Canada, I completely trust you and your information. 😎
Do developers even talk to customers when they come up with these things?! No sleep timer, no alarms, no way of adding songs to the queue on the fly. Honestly it would be better to use all the different service's apps cause this app sucks. Well done
The latest "upgrade?" is a disaster. Most of the time it will not open to the player. It tells me it cannot find my system. Screwing around and many attempts later, it will start. This is a perfect example of the lack of beta testing. Hours spent on hold waiting for support make things very frustrating. PLEASE make this work every time I open the app.
Hi Matt, we apologize for the inconvenience. Features such as playlist creation and queue editing within the Sonos app, sleep timers, and local library support are currently not be available on the new app, but will return in a future update.
Yesterday I installed the new update. I like the new app look, but now I can't access the alarm feature. Oddly enough, it is still an active component. The alarm was one of my favorite discoveries from the old app layout. However, today the alarm went off when I didn't want it to. How do we access and edit alarms now??
Still works on Android - but they've irritatingly removed the numerical volume indicator, which is what I always looked at as I know what volumes I like for my various rooms/scenarios. The app is definitely a step backwards.
What do you mean by mute? Put the Sonos automatically to sleep in 10, 15, 30 minutes…? If you mean this, it seems that it is not there in the new update. Only on Windows desktop app
@@Vojta-d5othey mean mute. On the left side of the volume slider if you 'hit' the speaker icon it muted sound, could be done collectively or for each component. This update is atrocious entire thing needs to muted
How can I access my library? Please do a better quality control on the App before releasing. As a suggestion, release it as a beta first. Has anyone got the library from the network working?
The new app does the total opposite of giving complete control over my Sonos experience. The new app has made me unable to control anything. Can't switch rooms, can't clear queue, can't see volume numbers, songs are skipped when switching rooms, no system found on app launch (happens very frequently)
Did your QA team do any integration testing at all with the services you make “available” - other than putting their services on a list within your application?
Helpful video. Thank you. Like so many other users, I'm not really happy about this app. I had a bunch of new Sonos equipment installed last week. Could not get some basic things to work. Wait time on their support phone was in excess of 1 hour each time I called.
There is a workaround! I updated the app on my phone and messed up my system, but my S2 app on the iPad still has full functionality on the same Sonos system. Bad decision on Sonos's part to roll out the new update like this, an optional S3 app would have been a much better option.
I agree about this update being rushed and missing features. However, for those wanting to use the alarms and sleep timers, Sonos says you can still use your voice to do so as well as access those settings from the Sonos controller on a computer for now until they put it back in the app in June. Hope this helps!
Please let us go back to the old version. I want to enjoy my speakers again. I’d invested too much money and time on SONOS ecosystem than I really don’t want to sell all my speakers and move to Bluesound.
I own a software company - I’ve been running software teams for 30 years - if somebody put this beta app in front of me said it was ready for prime time - I would’ve fired them on the spot - are you guys serious?
Dear CEO Patrick Pence, Your recent public apologies are NOT ENOUGH! You will never succeed in bringing the new Sonos app to a flawless state or a meaningful design. Nor will you be able to restore all the features that your customers have been using and desiring for years. You have permanently undermined the trust of hundreds of thousands of users. Bring back the old app so that all those who find the new version unbearable can forget it as quickly as possible. You have handed your customers an unsolicited piece of junk. Please STOP THIS disaster immediately!
Reported this video as misinformation. It starts by saying the Sonos app will give you complete control. That is inherently false since the app won’t control the speakers.
BRING THE OLD APP BACK, Sonos thieves!!! It is downright immoral and reflective of a rotten corporate culture at Sonos that they try to push new product (headphones) when they have just severely downgraded the functionality of their expensive existing hardware by releasing a botched new app. BRING THE OLD APP BACK!!!
Aside from the missing features and bugs, the interface is more complicated than it ever was. Extra swipes and button presses for no reason other than aesthetics. I liked that all my services were separated so could easily tell which I was using. EQ settings are now 3 button presses . The tile at the bottom uses up precious screen real estate making the rest of the interface cramped and cluttered. I just don’t like anything about it.
Hey @sonos, Which genius thought it was a good idea to take up 1/3 of the UI with a FIXED now playing/search bar?!?! Seriously this a really big step backwards. We want feature parity and no less!
I just bought my Sonos move 2 speaker and wondering how the alarm works? More precisely will it start when speaker is turned off? Or how to ensure that alarm will start every morning?
The latest version of the Sonos app is our most ambitious software update yet, and we know there is still more work to be done. To ensure all features meet the standards of our listeners, certain functionalities will not be available at this time, but will return in a future update. We appreciate your patience as we make future improvements.
@sonos ok but how come you didn't notice the missing functionalities of the update before releasing it to the public? If so many regular users report issues with the update how come your beta testing phase succeeded? Releasing the unfinished update doesn't meet the standards of your listeners. Don't get me wrong, I am a big fan of yours and I love the whole update concept but you really messed up - the app is not ready to be released.
@sonos why release the app now if it’s not ready? I doesn’t make any sense. Whatever the reason, this approach is not working for your valuable customers. So once again, please do the smart thing and roll back to the old version so you can get the new one right. It might seem like a step back, but you would be doing the right thing, whereas making your customers wait months for old features to be available again is not.
If they keep going, you don't have any listeners anymore dear Sonos! Rollback the older app and get testing internal with this so called new version, it is not ready!!!
What is the point of gradually reimplementing all the missing features if the app (June Version 80.02) still doesn't work? Terrible performance with up to 10 seconds delay (volume, playlist, startup, etc.), components constantly crashing out of the system (stopping only possible via hardware buttons), app freezes, TuneIn still very buggy with numerous contents not accessible, NAS integration still not possible, wake-up radio station disappearing from the system, no volume indicator, no widgets, no control via lock screen, no control via status bar (despite enabled notifications), and much more... Sonos, please finally provide your customers with a rollback to the old S2!

Installed the new app on my iPad and iPhone , now I can’t see my music library. Spoke to Sonos they said use a desktop ! Please sort this out, or go back to the old version or better still have two versions available until this mess is sorted.
Since I installed the new app my system no longer works. Great job developers!
I want to play the mp3 files on my phone. HOW?
I don't know what it is about your clothes and appearance, but as a person from the West Coast of Canada, I completely trust you and your information. 😎
Where arę ALARMS? 2:44 min see in You iPhone???
Do developers even talk to customers when they come up with these things?!
No sleep timer, no alarms, no way of adding songs to the queue on the fly. Honestly it would be better to use all the different service's apps cause this app sucks. Well done
Where's the MUTE??
Without internet it’s unless to do anything, but the UI looks clean, we need update to make the function of the old app to exist in this 🇬🇭 thanks
You dont need internet just wireless.
But at the moment thet have made a total mess of the controller app
How to create/edit my playlists?
The latest "upgrade?" is a disaster. Most of the time it will not open to the player. It tells me it cannot find my system. Screwing around and many attempts later, it will start. This is a perfect example of the lack of beta testing. Hours spent on hold waiting for support make things very frustrating.
PLEASE make this work every time I open the app.
Seriously, who is this guy in every Sonos video?
Where is the music library now?
Alarm and sleep timer are ESSENTIAL FEATURES!! What was the decision to roll this out without including them?
Hi Matt, we apologize for the inconvenience. Features such as playlist creation and queue editing within the Sonos app, sleep timers, and local library support are currently not be available on the new app, but will return in a future update.
@@sonos Is this the way SONOS id dealing with his customers ?
Good sound. Worst interface
Yesterday I installed the new update. I like the new app look, but now I can't access the alarm feature. Oddly enough, it is still an active component. The alarm was one of my favorite discoveries from the old app layout. However, today the alarm went off when I didn't want it to. How do we access and edit alarms now??
Oh god.. And where is volume control by phone buttons?
Still works on Android - but they've irritatingly removed the numerical volume indicator, which is what I always looked at as I know what volumes I like for my various rooms/scenarios. The app is definitely a step backwards.
Where's the MUTE??
What do you mean by mute? Put the Sonos automatically to sleep in 10, 15, 30 minutes…? If you mean this, it seems that it is not there in the new update. Only on Windows desktop app
@@Vojta-d5othey mean mute.
On the left side of the volume slider if you 'hit' the speaker icon it muted sound, could be done collectively or for each component.
This update is atrocious entire thing needs to muted
@@kwawkwansah2452 I see.
Where are playlists?
You can see existing playlists if you go into favourites. No idea how you can add songs to a playlist anymore though?!!
Playlists do not show up on my new app!!
Thanks random hobo for explaining this pos app to us.
How do you mute??
The good news is that the speakers are muted about 99% of the time. The bad news is that they won’t play sound 99% of the time.
There is a workaround! I updated the app on my phone and messed up my system, but my S2 app on the iPad still has full functionality on the same Sonos system. Bad decision on Sonos's part to roll out the new update like this, an optional S3 app would have been a much better option.
Deeply disappointed. I lost nearly all of the features for which I had bought Sonos. Please bring back the old version. This is actually terrible!
Luckily, if you download the Windows version of the app, there is still possibility to turn off all the alarms and create new ones.
Dear CEO Patrick Pence,
Your recent public apologies are NOT ENOUGH!
Why can’t you make a playlist anymore :(
Can I legally refund the whole system, when I can't use it because of the app?
Reported this video as misinformation. It starts by saying the Sonos app will give you complete control. That is inherently false since the app won’t control the speakers.
How to I make a playlist? How do I add to queue?
you cant
PLEASE don’t update to this nonsense. Anyone know how to get the old app back?
Please let me know
Android or Apple?
@@spamdung914apple here… no longer working since update.
Does anybody else's sonos system constantly disappear from the app?
Hey @sonos,
Which genius thought it was a good idea to take up 1/3 of the UI with a FIXED now playing/search bar?!?! Seriously this a really big step backwards. We want feature parity and no less!
How do you shuffle all your libary music like it use to do?
Mega Desaster Update, so many functions are missing and more problems than ever 🤬
App updates are to improve, what was the objective of this update? Sonos really made this, I can't believe it
I just bought my Sonos move 2 speaker and wondering how the alarm works? More precisely will it start when speaker is turned off?
Or how to ensure that alarm will start every morning?
How do I play tthe music on my iPhone (iTunes basically) not Apple Music streaming, but the music I have bought or uploaded to my phone
How to use the app. Step 1: You don’t.
terrible update, missing key features (alarm, volume, playlist), give us the old app back and work on the new one again and again !!
Stop gaslighting. "ensure quality" Then roll it back until it is ready @@sonos
If they keep going, you don't have any listeners anymore dear Sonos! Rollback the older app and get testing internal with this so called new version, it is not ready!!!
Have to go into speaker settings to adjust group volume, that's a fail.
Where's the MUTE??
I’m having trouble with app recognizing a speaker. Any advice?
This new app update is horrible
I can’t add Play next any songs :c
I’ve owned Sonos speakers for 12 years - and I’ve used the desktop app maybe half a dozen times - what are you thinking?
how do i make playlists now 😭
Hi Gael! We're reintroducing the queue feature in the coming weeks. You can find more details on future feature updates here: support.sonos.com/article/the-new-sonos-app-and-future-feature-updates
Why is it stopping suddenly or skipping tracks, or not loading the interface at all?
Sonos, go back to the old S2. YOU FAILED!
Have you tested your application to see how many times it fails, how many times it doesn't work and how complicated you made it?
I use Sonos at my house and at a restaurant I manage. This new version is hands down the worst interface I have ever used for music. Whoever designed this is in the wrong business and needs to find a new field to work in.
How do I listen to my personal playlist?
Please roll this back. This is tech culture at its worst. "We streamlined the ux" NO. You broke features that were working.
How do I turn the Gen3 sub off, or adjust the amount of bass (and treble for that matter)?
Im new ro Sonos. Didnt realize the new app was apparently a disaster.
Ive setup my speakers fine.. are the bumps in the road over/fixed?
