David McCallum. Was a beautiful and gracious man. When his marriage ended to Jill Ireland, he said that it enabled him to find the love of his life. Robert Vaughan was always classy and sauce. The girls in my school were crazy about them and the excellent show. RIP to both of you and thanks for the amazing performances.
RIP 🙏 to legendary actors Robert Vaughn, David McCallum, and Leo G. Carroll! Thank you gentlemen for those great childhood memories in the 60’s watching one of many of my favorite spy shows, The Man From Uncle.
This was one of my all time favourite TV shows: The Man from UNCLE with spin-off movies like The Karate Killers. Robert Vaughn was the ideal sleuth, suave and sophisticated, besides being handsome in his own way. His diction too was commendable. Karate Killers also guest-starred the lovely Diane McBain [she recently passed]. Diane also was in The Deadly Toys affair, another UNCLE episode, that also guest starred Angela Lansbury.
The first time I saw David McCallum was in the Twilight Zone, he was a lab assistant who had been evolutionary accelerated with a huge head. Robert Vaughn was more of a stage actor in New York.
Robert vaughn aka napoleon solo is a household name The no 1 show in the world that is the man from uncle All kinds of magazine toys comic t shirt postcard regarding the show A real classic TV show Robert vaughn voice is superb Robert kennedy invited robert vaughn to his residence to meet his family Come as napoleon solo lts shows how the kennedy family love the show and of course not forgetting illya kuryakin
Me too.i did finally meet him at an autograph show.i said to him i have waited 40 years or more to meet you. I was 11 12 13 when i became a fan.i was so sad to hear his passing.
They make it look effortless. I thought Roger Moore ( the Saint ) was untouchable in terms of coolness but these guys are right up there with him ! Robert Vaughan is simply brilliant as a " face actor " . Just a look or a raised eyebrow conveys it all....without words.!!
I wish there had been a 2nd combined cd of David's 3rd and 4th records with a few of his other music pieces-this one with David and Nancy Sinatra singing together and the piece he did- "A Man Is A Drum"- plus one or two from "The Big TNT Show". This was great too.
The greatest HUG felt around the World! The hug lllya gave Napoleon was genuine and loving. I felt it too just looking at them. Robert (Napoleon) and David (Illya) really loved each other both on and off the MFU. Those Were The Days really says it all. I loved seeing them together. I'm happy they remained friends. Good friendship and true love no doubt. Still love you guys after all these years. RIP Robert! David - Take care. Awesome Video as usual! Thank you.
Looking back on this favorite show of mine from "those were the days," one thing I realize now is how gracefully Robert Vaughn shared the spotlight with David. I mean the show was supposed to be SOLO's, but Illya stole it (without trying to) out from under him, and Vaughn, with coolness and camaraderie, turned the whole thing into the coolest TV bromance I know of. And all these scenes re-viewed here reveal how well Vaughn and McCallum worked as a team. Well done, numbers 2 and 11. And thanks to you, Catherine, for these videos. Dang the producers for turning the show into campy fluff. Still--gotta love it.
Napoleon Solo was equally popular as Illya, so nothing was stolen. Many men and young boys wanted to be Napoleon. Some girls have said they also wanted to be him. David probably got more fan mail because it was unusual for men and boys to send fan mail to a man on a show like MFU. Anyway, they shared the spotlight and remained friends for years.
The best story, in my opinion, was"The Alexander the Greater Affair" which I remember watching at a country cinema in 1968. "Man from Uncle" villains, as well as the two heroes, were always immaculately tailored and remained well-pressed even after strenuous chase and fight scenes.
Eavos My heart will break even more whenever David passes. I hope not too soon! I met him a couple of times and he was so kind. Still looks young for 84.
Very cool tribute, forever apart of my 60s childhood TV viewing, they were handsome and David McCallum's Illya was my fav, he was the perfect straight man to Robert Vaughn, wish UA-cam had some full eppys..
Just finished watching Series 1 in black and white. Reliving my childhood. OK so they were corney and not up to todays standard, but they are great fun. But I still remember the thrill of the opening sequence where Solo is behind the glass as it cracks from the gunshots. The really daft thing is that they worked on only about 10 location sets and you see the same places again and again. Even the same vehicles. And they never really got outside MGM studios and back lot.
Loved this......there haven't been any new videos about this show lately?.....hint, hint, hint. Could you do another one? So many great songs to work with. The Movie version absolutely did NOT capture the magic of the original show.
What a lovely tribute! I recently had brain surgery and bought a cute blonde wig to cover my baldness. And YES blondes DO have more fun. My husband commented that if I wore a black turtleneck I would look like Illya. I miss Robert. Every time I wear my wig I think of you guys.
This is utterly fantastic. It's interesting that even, 15 years later, David was still blonde, actually Robert was already greying at the start, at the sides at only 32. But he did always look a bit mature for his age.
Before Jill Ireland married CHARLES BRONSON she was married to David Mccallum, Charles Bronson told him that one day he was gonna steal her away from him, he said go ahead. LOL 😝, now that’s a cool MA FOE!!!
For some reason after " The Man From Uncle" Robert Vaughn always seemed to play the heavy in guest starring roles on other tv shows though he was very good at it. In his last years he seemed to be reduced to doing cheesy commericals that were beneath him.

And David..
Great TV show! It had plot, action, humor, and it was fun to watch.
Até hoje adoro assistir !!!❤
Robert Vaughn was a great actor, as is David McCallum. Pity, that they didn't work together in their later lives. Both great men.
I wish Robert had been a guest on "NCIS", but he passed away before then. I miss both him and David now more than ever.
I will miss you Mr Vaughn I grew up watching uncle also David's illya character
Tonight going to watch uncle on DVD
The Men From Uncle. The Best
Happy, happy memories! My cousin and I were addicted. Illya and Napoleon look as cool today as they did back then!
They make it look effortless. I thought Roger Moore ( the Saint ) was untouchable in terms of coolness but these guys are right up there with him !

My golden memories

Quite a fitting tribute. Thank you.
How cool that David recommended this on Facebook!

Beautiful! We miss Robert!
Thanks so much for sharing this.
That is absolutely charming! Thank you!

Loved it, you even included the A Team episode. :) How I wish Robert Vaughn could have been on an episode of NCIS.
It would have been the best thing...
good memories
Wow, your video got shared by McCallum himself on his FB page!!! :D
my heart broke
Eavos My heart will break even more whenever David passes. I hope not too soon! I met him a couple of times and he was so kind. Still looks young for 84.
Memories 1970s year The Man from UNCLE serial TV in myhome 🇮🇩😅😊
Very cool tribute, forever apart of my 60s childhood TV viewing, they were handsome and David McCallum's Illya was my fav, he was the perfect straight man to Robert Vaughn, wish UA-cam had some full eppys..
And now we've lost McCallum as well.
Loved this show when I was a kid. Thanks for the video. (BTW, 2:28, "Speecie spicie meatball." RIP Jack Somack.)

I didn't know that the 2016 curse had taken Robert Vaughn too. That was a shock I only found out yesterday.
i cried the day i heard the news. i grew up in the 60's and he was my hero......
Very good. But the copyright on UNCLE is held tight! Love it though!
David McCallum FTW
Jason Goodman is our Man for the New Millenium !

Не стареет это видео:)) блин, давно не заходила на фикбук...может вы там уже Партнеров обновили?:))
Пока нет, к сожалению. Работа, то-сё))

I play the game
This's what YT's 4
Illya was my first TV idol. I never was a Robert Vaughn fan. I thought David McCallum was so cool.
Me too. David was so cool, he had the same style and "look" as the Beatles.
Beautiful! Who sang the song?
Mary Hopkins
Katherine Combs Mary Hopkins

This was based upon James Bond.
Before Jill Ireland married CHARLES BRONSON she was married to David Mccallum, Charles Bronson told him that one day he was gonna steal her away from him, he said go ahead. LOL 😝, now that’s a cool MA FOE!!!
Sorry, but it's Mary *Hopkin* not "Hopkins".
