This is wonderful, I am actually attempting my own version! The colours are wonderful on their own but that gold trim kicks it up a notch and makes it look like it came straight out of the Book of Kells! 💚☘💚
I have shared your videos with several friends and we're all loving them. Your explanations are terrific and your art is lovely. Looking forward to doing all of your tutorials. Thank you.
I have a few erasers that make removing those little slivers of line so much easier. The first is and eraser pencil.. it's a pencil with eraser instead of lead. You can sharpen it as needed. the second is battery powered although I don't always use the power feature.. it has two sizes of eraser and one is extremely fine, I believe 2mm wide. Also is it just me being wierd but Arches CP has this distinctive hollow yet sandpapery sound that triggers a negative reaction? I love the papers performance but using it is often uncomfortable.. definitely when sketching but even when painting.. It's like I can feel it with each brush stroke. Scritch, scritch... ugh. Makes me want to shake it off my hands, if that makes ANY sense lol. I find myself avoiding using it sometimes due to it. The HP is weird too compared to other brands, almost fuzzy, but at least it's soft and soothing.
Yes, the arches paper has a texture that's not as soft as other papers - when I was editing this I turned down the volume on the pencil drawing bits because it was really loud! Hope it's not too distracting! I've heard the single sheets are a different texture so might order some to see the difference because I like the way the paint behaves on the surface.
@@LouDavis No worries, it wasn't anything you did it's just the "arches sound" lol. I've heard the blocks and sheets have different sizing. I haven't noticed a difference in the actual texture from my own collection, I have some of both, but I haven't examined it up close side by side either. It is different than a lot of other papers, kind of sharp edged lines vs bumps and dips or a fabric-like pattern.
I find it fascinating how you plot these patterns out. I think I'll just download a sample from google... my poor overworked brain is like "nope, just give me juicy color and a brush please, the analytical lobe is closed at this time"... but I do appreciate you explaining it step by step.
Thank you so much for sharing this wonderful design. I painted it and created a bookmark & it turned out just great! You are a wonderful artist, thank you so much for sharing your talents and helping others along. 🥰
I LOVE DOING CELTIC KNOTS 🤗 definitely will be doing this, I took the circle pattern you did in last post to art club this week, for something to work on there, every body was really interested, and after doing some of your projects my brush work has definitely improved, thanks Lou, keep em coming !
Absolutely beautiful, and so very clearly demonstrated! I am so thankful to find your channel, thank you so much for sharing your skill & patience. So very much appreciated 😊
@@LouDavis I tried it (a Christmas miracle in itself!) and I'm thrilled with the result! Thanks again, so very much. Wishing you & yours a wonderful Christmas & New Year! 😊
This looks so gorgeous! Also very fascinating to watch! I have never done a Celtic knot before but I think I might give it a try. Keep up the excellent work, I love watching your videos ️ ☺️
Ooh! Just found this one and haven't done it yet. I'm waiting until things settle down a bit and I can savor it. I was playing with celtic knots a few years ago, so I am going to enjoy this one.
So the emulsion doesn't expose if you do it in a room accessed by daylight? I've been trying to do the whole coating and exposure process in the darkroom with a amber light bulb.
I’m guessing this relates to the screen printing video. You can coat the screen in the light as long as you move it somewhere dark to dry. The print studio I use has the same process - dark cupboards for drying screens but we do everything else in daylight.
@@LouDavis thank you for you reply, I’ve been trying and error for a while now, I’m even questioning if the emulsion brand is the right one. Which brand of emulsion would you recommend?
