One of his early roles was Cassio in "Othelo" with Chiwetel Ejiofor and Ewan McGregor. So when Loki talks about Iago you get the undertone that Hiddleston really wanted to play that part:) Since then he also done Henry IV, Coriolanus and of course Hamlet.
I still have my recording of Tom as Prince Hal and then Henry V when the BBC did the wars of the roses plays. I can't believe the panel didn't know the play was Hamlet or the Iago reference was Othello. Really strange as I always thought Shakespeare was taught everywhere.
It made me so happy opening the episode on Tom Hiddleston performing Shakespeare in *the* Globe Theater. Like you’ve said, he’s a classically-trained actor and you can hear how much he/Loki is enjoying it. It made the theatre lover in my heart smile.
I love how this episode also indicates a lot of changes from our main MCU- Happy Hogan is an obvious difference, but also Hela and Loki being around during their Infinity War indicate a very different world, with all kinds of implications!
Hulk in this episode was such a goddamn tease. I didn’t recognise the voice at first, so when I saw the green cloak and iron mask, my brain instantly jumped to Dr. Doom. I refuse to believe they didn't know what they were doing.
The comic story about Steve Rogers as the Native American Rojhaz was Neil Gaiman's Marvel 1602 run, which this episode was loosely based on. Unsurprisingly, Gaiman mentioned after the episode came out that he was unaware they were adapting it and that he received no pay for it.
Almost all Marvel Movies/shows are based off some pre-existing comic book, and I doubt any of them got paid from marvel studios for the adaptions. Gaiman wrote it but it's then owned by marvel to do what they want with.

I mean, as much as I love the idea of his reaction to it, I don’t think he would have seen this exact possibility? Because the point at which this universe breaks off from the MCU isn’t when Cap hits the Time Stone . It would’ve split earlier as, in this universe, Happy can turn into “The Freak,” unlike in the MCU. While a relatively small change by itself, it does show that their universe has already differed from the MCU, and could imply a whole other host of changes that we just don’t see. After all, if Hela and Loki were two of the people that were brought back to 1602, that could mean both were still alive at the time of the Battle of Wakanda, as opposed to the MCU where both were killed just before/earlier in Infinity War. So, while I could see MCU Strange seeing a similar time-displacement story if MCU Cap had hit the time stone (it’d be funny if where on the stone Cap hit controlled when everyone was taken to), I don’t think it would’ve been this one exactly as it’s already a different timeline.

I absolutely loved this episode! I think this may be my favorite episode of this season so far. I just really enjoyed everything about this episode and found its story to be so creative, fun and really interesting. Again I think this episode has once again showed how much they have upped the quality for this new season. I think that everything about this episode is what a What If story should be. I just loved the story and everything about it, the score had a perfect blend of being fun with the medieval setting and having actual heroic sounding music, the cinematography was beautiful and I really liked how they used the animation to their advantage in this one. It really felt like they were able to use the animation to do things they couldn’t normally do like establish their own cinematic looking style. Also before I talk about what I really liked about this episode I feel like I’ve got to point out how there was a surprising number of easy to notice Easter Eggs in this episode, like they weren’t distracting me from the episode but they were just very obvious things to catch. I just loved getting to see all of these Marvel heroes in this 1602, medieval setting. It was just super fun and really entertaining led to so many amazing moments throughout this entire episode. I really loved getting to see all the characters like Steve Rogers, Tony Stark, Bruce Banner, Scott Lang, Happy Hogan, Wanda Maximoff, etcetera, in this medieval style setting and to see how similar or different they acted to their regular MCU counterpart. I also really loved seeing how they all fell into a specific role of that time period, like how Steve was a Robin Hood style character and Tony was a black smith/inventor. All the characters were just really fun to get to watch throughout this episode. Another thing I loved about this episode was the humor, I just found this episode to be really funny. Just some of the dialogue the characters had in this episode was genuinely funny and had a lot of great comedic writing to it. And I also loved the action in this episode. There were just so many amazing fight scenes throughout this episode, and they were all animated and choreographed so well. I just really loved the way most of the characters would change between fighting like a knight or warrior of that time period and fighting like how their characters would normally fight in the MCU. And seeing how Steve and Peggy fought together by passing the shield to one another throughout the fight was so cool to me and led to some amazing fight moves. Also I wasn’t expecting Happy to turn into The Freak/Hulk Hogan in this episode (especially not during this time period) but it was a great surprise and led to a pretty awesome fight between him and The Hulk. Another thing I loved in this episode was the the emotion it was able to build between Peggy and Steve, especially at the end when Peggy said it seemed like they would never get to be together. I just really liked this because it makes you feel even more sorry for Peggy because it makes you realize that this is like the third time she has had to loose a Steve Rogers and isn’t able to live the life she wants to with him. Honestly it kind of makes me feel like the two of them not being together is a sort of Absolute Point or Cannon Event, and that their happy ending in Endgame was the only exception. Then in the end of this episode we see Strange Supreme sit down at the pub with Captain Carter, I honestly just cannot wait for tomorrows episode to find out what Strange Supreme has been up to and why it seems like he is gathering other heroes like Captain Carter and Kahhori. This episode was definitely a huge improvement over most of the episodes in season one.
I know the Watcher said 2 episodes ago that he rarely does sequels. However, I like the idea that this universe (the one in which Cap hit the time stone) is the same as the Xmas episode as it explains why Happy is still “The Freak”. Sure, there are infinite universes, presumably, that have a “Hulk Hogan”. But after breaking his oath (and it working out) at the end of season 1, I like seeing the Watcher break from his old way of doing things a bit.
This is my favourite. It's so fun and only at the end we learn what the actual What if is. I also like that we get all those hints of what this universe usually looks like, so we can imagine how their Infinity War went. But I do like almost all of S2. Especially the visual improvement, it being shot way more cinematically than the first one. Both in camera and lighting.

Maybe Clint Barton wouldn't be an archer in a world where arrows were still commonly used. Hawkeye's whole thing is that he uses obsolete weapons technology like arrows and swords that none of his opponents will know how to respond to. Hawkeye as Robin Hood would be like modern Clint with a gun. He's just a guy with good aim, not as impressive.

Instead it's basically the show saying - yes, this specific particular version of Peggy Carter from this specific particular version of a specific particular parallel universe IS THE HERO, she's officially the coolest, remember that kids, you are not the hero, SHE is, good night. And like I kinda get it. But also I fully don't. Almost soured the whole season for me, but I got over it since I watched it 😅
