  • In this video I present my top 6 list of the cryptid legends within the Canadian province of Quebec. There are definitely more creatures of folklore within the province that I didn't get to in this video, and I may do a part 2 video down the road.
You probably know this but in case you don't - cryptids are the creatures of myth/legend whose existence has not been proven or generally accepted by the scientific community. There is a lot of controversy and debate surrounding this subject.
I find that wherever you fall on the spectrum of belief, it can be useful to explore these legends to learn more about the history and folklore of a given region. These stories form a fascinating aspect of Indigenous and European mythology.
In this video I will present some excellent resources for deep dives into different cryptid stories from across Canada.
I cover the following creature legends in this video:
    1 - Lac Wood Screecher
    2 - Ashuaps
    3 - Loup Garou
    4 - Mugwump
    5 - Memphre
    6 - Bigfoot/Sasquatch
I have fun exploring these legends, and I'm surprised at how many different creatures emerge in the folklore of Canada. I look forward to more cryptid videos down the road, and some deeper dives into individual stories.
I hope you found this one interesting and informative, and if you're interested in watching more of my content please consider subscribing to my channel - I upload at least one new video per week.
    Thanks for watching!

@ShaggyVibes, yes living in the remote areas does make for many acentric characters to cross in the woods 🤣If I do catch something on video that would qualify as a cryptid I would be happy to share it here first. The strangest experiences so far in this province for me have mostly been UAP to which I did not get any video. If you do get the chance, hike or mountain bike the trails! the rock and waterfalls are totally worth it.

When travelling on the road 389 toward Fermont, somewhere around the Gagnon ghost town, we saw (at night) a big, tall 4 legged, grey skinned animal with very stranged shaped horns or antlers.. The animal ran away in a disarticulated way, like it was drunk. Quite scary at the moment.

After talking to locals they believed it was a tick riddled moose, sometimes they come so infected with ticks they loose their fur from scrathing, and their depleted blood makes them walk funny and makes antler grow with bizarre paterns

I really hope that this is the start of a series of videos outlining the most famous cryptids of each province because that would be awesome!

The "Magog" lake monster always interested me.
I remember being a bit nervous to swim in that lake as a kid... not knowing what to think of the legend.

im still waiting for you to do the McLeod and Schmegelsky manhunt.. i know its a touchy subject, but it feels like not many independent channels have done stories on it. and has to be one of canadas largest manhunts in forever.

I have seen Sasquatch and what people call Dogmen in the Rocky mountains. Theirs alot more to reality than we think these are supernatural entities.

It's pretty cool, at various times the Royal Canadian Mint has produced various coins and stamps with different Canadian paranormal legends. People seem to call them all sorts of things, but Yeti is more commonly associated with the Himalayas, it's also called the Abominable Snowman. Sasquatch is also common in Canada, but I think it doesn't really matter too much - they all describe pretty much the same thing. Thanks for watching!
