  • It is a time of year haunted by memory and grief, when some make cakes, some make music, and some make art to celebrate and honor dear ones who have crossed over. On All Souls Day in Bisbee, family and friends of Derrick and Amy Ross gathered to celebrate these two brief lives, and say goodbye. As the symbolic skeletons of Nowhere Man and his Whiskey Girl led us through the Bisbee streets bearing the names of our dead, children danced and drummers drummed. This video is my sense of the day in this remarkable town, and a reminder to, as Amy put it in one of her last messages, "Go be nice to someone for us."

They learned Jeux veux vivre and Time in a bottle for my wedding to the love of my life. We were at the Copper Queen for our 2nd anniversary where they signed a CD saying how happy they were that we were still together. My love was already cheating on me and abandoned me at Christmas because I was sick. My dear friend Dave who lived with his wife just outside Bisbee killed himself a couple months before xmas and now the loss of such special loving people I ever had the pleasure to know. I miss all of it.

Lovely couple and both their lives ended quickly in 2013 at about the age of 40. They have a biological daughter, McKenna Breinholt, who was adopted as the date is unknown. McKenna performed on American Idol season 22 episode 1 auditions televised date Feb. 18, 2024. Her mother, Amy Lopez, was married to Derrick Ross. A wonderful and awesome family reunion occurred on the AI TV show. However, they improperly announced her mother as Amy Ross Lopez when it should be Amy Lopez Ross. Watching UA-cam videos and reading about McKenna's parents is tragic or devastating. It is amazing how little we know about any person's life including that Amy and Derrick had any children. Their music lives on and so does the story of the Bisbee, AZ couple. "Nowhere Man and a Whiskey Girl". When McKenna brought her family inside to meet the Judges, she went on to perform "Tumbleweed" as a dedication song to Amy. American Idol can surely make it dramatic and feel for the contestants. AI has forgotten how to select quality, talented, and gifted vocalists. When will AI finally end all the sobbing stories and get back to producing a good Reality TV show?

I understand what you're saying....but did you not think the daughter had a good voice and deserved to move on? I'm confused what you're complaining about...i thought the daughter was good and I don't think it was her story that got her the ticket to hollywood..idk jc
