There's another in "A Health of Information", where Zecora gets infected with a near incurable disease that turns ponies into the same tree that spreads the disease, which leaves a dark implication of other trees being infected victims and leaving it up in the air if they're even still conscious or not. In other words, implied body horror.
@@MontanasComics072 NP! self harm is a crazy thing to talk about in a kids show but tbh they did execute incredibly well - and in a way where it's not traumatizing for the target audience lmao. top 10 episode for me imo

weird they gave us a backstory but still 0 answer of how they died, was it an illness? some sort of accident? (since they both died,it does seem to imply it was some kind of accident soon after appleboom was born)
You did a great job with this. Everytime someone says something like "oh it's a girly show or kiddy show or not masculinity shown here I'ma show them your video. Good video summary of this. I will sub. Especially for your age cause I just turned 16 and you've put all this effort finding this stuff.
dont forget the heavy HEAVY H E A V Y amounts of racism that are almost always the conflicts throughout like half the show! ponies and dragons? racist towards eachother! mules? also racism! changelings and ponies? OH LIKE YOU WOULDNT BELIEVE! and it doesnt even stop at other species either. the ponies made AN ENTIRE HOLIDAY to celebrate the day they stopped being racist to EACHOTHER!
Sometimes it’s okay to have more mature topics in kids shows/movies (unless it’s overdone). For example the animated lion king which has been a family favourite for decades has a scene were the villain plans the death of the main characters dad while his minions use the bones of dead animals like instruments. There’s a scene where a character almost says “ass” before being interrupted by a lioness trying to kill his friend. When the main character comes back the entire kingdom is a wasteland due to over hunting implying a genocide (since all mammals are sapient in universe). The villain guilts the main character for the death of his father and then has a pretty graphic fight scene which ends by the villain being mauled to death by his own minions. Yet it’s still a kids movie, and so I believe the kids rating is still valid
I think a good kids’ show is a show that children AND parents can enjoy, these jokes go over kids’ heads but make adults laugh, that’s what makes people come back
The half: friendship is good ,even if it doesnt always work sometimes youl fight but its part of friendship The other half: murder and im mentally unstable 😊
Ah yes villains clones melting alive onscreen, storm king's troops burned alive by Spike, Luna banished for thousands of years in isolation, mean 3 turned to stone and perfectly aware still by the god of chaos... For kids yeah for sure.
welcome to mlp we have racism, infection, communism, depression, mental breakdowns, dragon ball fight scenes, war, slavery, murder, nudity, identity crisis, brainwashing and so much more! when most of your grimdark aus have some sort of basis in the show (or in cupcakes’ case actually preceded it) it really says something doesn’t it and that one time when starlight said “i’m going to have a little chat with them” and the tv-y sign disappears
@@clochb Actually the fanfic or Cupcake video don't remember which is older than the Pinkamina episode by like a couple month iirc. It's one of the early ep that showed the writer knew and referenced the Fans
It's still for kids, nonetheless. Not because it's for kids doesn't mean it has to talk about dumb and superficial topics with all rainbow and sunshines. Besides, the adult jokes are there because, well, adults made it. It's STILL a kids show. It was made for a demographic of little girls, but of course there is absolutely no wrong with older people from all identities to watch it and enjoy it.
But please, stop saying that it isn't a kid's show just to make you feel better. People shouldn't be embarrassed to accept that, yeah, they like a show made for kids. You shouldn't need to say "UM BIT, ACTUALLY, THERE ARE TOPICS THAT KIDS WILL NOT UNDERSTAND" and then give a long list of things that are adult jokes. You should just say "Yeah, I like it, and I have my reasons"
I really like my little pony. It's literally my favorite show, even tho I'm not a little girl. But I don't like it because OHH It has dark topics and adult jokes. No, I accept it: I like the songs, the iconic and beautiful characters, the topics of friendship and how they are handed in a honest way but understandable for little kids. I understood most of the adult jokes there, and it's funny to see them now because, when I was a kid, didn't noticed them. But that's it. It's still a kids show
And also, sorry for the long texts. I'm just tired of seeing this types of thing justifing something because you need "adult reasons" to like something for kids. Nobody need to do that. Be happy with whatever you like :")
@ this is a snippet of the summary on the wiki “Rockhoof gives up all hope. Remembering the story of Discord's defeat from earlier, he tells Twilight to turn him to stone, deciding that his only use in modern times is as a statue in a museum. Twilight vehemently refuses to carry out Rockhoof's request, but Rockhoof begs her, wanting to be remembered as the hero he used to be rather than the disappointment he is now.” The worst part is that Twilight almost actually did it
@@MontanasComics072 the general idea most got out of it is that the world moved on and he wasn't needed anymore. His skills and bravery leaving him irrelevant as time passes on while his closest allies found ways to fit in with no real issues. The idea that he can't do anything right, and that no one would care about him anymore, and the willingness to be turned to stone was taken as a metaphor for "giving up on life" since he wouldn't technically be alive anymore. He is my favorite of the pillars for how real he is, even in the context of the show. I have known people who thought like him, and even been there myself, so Rockhoof, this massive hero of legends, having such thoughts makes him very relatable and understanding to those who need help
