While watching the video I was taking some notes based on what you were doing, hopefully you find them helpful: 1) This game is much harder than Payday 2, even the normal difficulty can kick your ass if you are not careful. Use cover and don't run around mindlessly, Payday 2 tactics won't work here 2) The skill tree you are upgrading doesn't depend on the character you are using. You can change your skill tree anytime you want during the heist by holding Tab and pressing 1,2,3,4 to change the skill tree. The Assault tree gives you the Ammo Bag and upgrades for it, more cable ties, More Cable Ties upgrade for you, damage multiplier and faster reload bonuses for the team and some weapons (none of them are really "meta" but variety doesn't hurt in this game). The Sharpshooter gives you the Trip Mines with upgrades, Thick Skin upgrade (more HP for you), Reduced Spread and more Bleed out time bonuses for your team, Locomotive 12G (the first shotgun you can get and it's a secondary) and M308 (a very powerful weapon in this game). The Support gives you the Doctor Bag with upgrades, Extra Start Out Ammo upgrade for you, armor multiplier bonus for your team, Bronco .44 (best handgun in the game), Reinbeck (primary shotgun) and Compact-5 (pretty good secondary SMG). The Technician gives you the Toolkit upgrade (faster interactions), Sentry Guns with upgrades, AK (very good rifle, has lots of spread and recoil though), Stryker pistol (ok I guess, not very ammo efficient) and GL40 (best secondary IMO). Every tree except Technician also gives you armor upgrades (applied automatically without needing to select anything during the preparations screen) and AMCAR and B9-S upgrades. 3) Funny you mentioned Diesel junk, this game allows you to revive teammates and do certian objectives through walls, provided you are close enough. Use and abuse it to your advantage. 4) Carrying stuff in this game is not the same as in Payday 2. Here everything goes into your inventory, with no bags to throw. The only time you will pick up a bag is in the Slaughterhouse, where you can decide how many bags are you going to steal (they don't slow you down) 5) On any difficulty except Overkill and Overkill 145+ (the difficulty that you unlock after level 145), any time you gain a new reputation level, you fully heal yourself. It becomes less rare, the bigger your level is, until you get to 193 where you won't be able to heal anymore 6) In this game you have 3 weapons: Handgun (your pistol), Secondary (Shotgun, SMG, Grenade Launcher) and Primary (Shotgun, Assault Rifle, DMR). Makes pistols much more useful 7) This game does have stealth sometimes, but it's not full stealth like in Payday 2. The Diamond heist can be stealthed until you input the wrong codes (if the code you were given before the mission is wrong, which happens about 80% of the time), break the glass in the vault or get spotted by guards. No Mercy can be stealthed until the moment you need to cut the wire to open the correct ICU room (get spotted before that, use the saw to open the ICU hall and ICU rooms; take too much time cutting the wire, use the saw to open the room) 8) The game does have longer cooldown between assaults. IIRC destroying cameras makes the cooldown even longer and the cop number is reduced 9) Bots in this game are very fragile and also very stupid. They don't stick with you unless you shout at them 10 times and often go far away from you, just to get downed 10) If you are playing with bots, going for the second can of thermite is usually a suicide, so don't do that. Also bulldozers don't spawn at the vault in this game (but the bulldozer at the escape is still there)

@@TheOneCapCan Thank you! There are 2 things I forgot to mention: 1) Hostages are very important in this game compared to Payday 2. In Payday 2, you can always dominate a cop but in this game you cannot dominate cops during the assault wave which means if someone goes to custody mid game (usually by that time cops rescue all the civilians, only on some maps you can find civilians even after 10-15 minutes pass from the start of the heist), they are probably not returning from there unless you kept your civilian hostages safe or managed to get lucky between assaults and dominated a cop. Keeping hostages safe is very hard with bots but there are some places that cops don't visit often (like second floor and rooms above the vault in First World Bank) so hide your hostages there. Though, on No Mercy and Diamond Heist, cops don't really want to save civilians (at least in my experience) so on those maps you just need to keep a close eye on them, no need to lead them somewhere safe 2) Every map except Diamond Heist ends with a Point of No Return and a timer so don't stick around for too long or else it's an automatic failure
@@thisisspy288 for number 1, You shouldn't save hostages period. The key is to take hostages only when you need them. By that, I mean during an assault break when someone is in custody. Taking hostages when not needed can cause a lot of problems, they can be freed which wastes a cable tie, or they are in a spot that is very hard to get to when you need to trade. When in doubt, you can always get a cop hostage.

im opposite you bro. i adored the original and never got around to playing payday 2 until end of 2021 due to their complex skill trees haha. as soon as i started really giving payday 2 a chance ive been obsessed with it!!!
I started playing it around the same time, played it for a few months left it alone for around 6 months, tried to play it again for another months, left it alone again, then for the last month and a half, been playing it almost everyday

i loved watching you suffer on Payday the heist, and yet you still managed to be better than me than I was in the first 2 heists on Easy
