What an amazing experience, for your Kiddos and You - and now for us! Bald Eagles are something few people are ever privileged to see in a lifetime. Thank you for sharing this!!! 🤗
Congrats on finding the roost area. It's rare to find the roost trees/areas. The roosting trees are protected areas. Some people designate the area as a nature area.
Derek! This is Jamie Lulloff! I love this so much. What an encouraging sign from God. The 50 eagles, just wow!!! I can’t wait to capture photos of some out at our new country home. Hope you and your family are doing well!
Make sure to never leave poison traps for rodents, as the eagles will eat the poisoned rodent, maybe even feed it to their babies, and then die a terrible death. Thanks for sharing these amazing birds!
It will be interesting see between Your Eagles and Decorad Iowa Eagle about 400 mile to the north between the two nest of eagles how thing will play out as scientific endeavor. DDT banned in 1972. Eagles gradually return across the country. Go eagles and thanks Farmer Derek! US Fish & wildlife service (fws.gov): "Forty years ago, our national symbol was in danger of extinction throughout most of its range. Habitat destruction and degradation, illegal shooting, and the contamination of its food source, largely as a consequence of DDT, decimated the eagle population. Habitat protection afforded by the Endangered Species Act, the federal government’s banning of DDT, and conservation actions taken by the American public have helped bald eagles make a remarkable recovery. ... As the dangers of DDT became known, in large part due to the 1962 publication of Rachel Carson’s book Silent Spring, the Environmental Protection Agency took the historic and, at the time, controversial step of banning the use of DDT in the United States. That was in 1972, and it was the first step on the road to recovery for the bald eagle."
