He attacked the officer and tried to take the officer's gun. These 2 women need to realize that his actions are what led to his demise.

The officer had a right to defend himself.

Don't try to take an officers gun.
And don't defend your mentally deranged son. His mental situation doesn't give him the right to take an officers weapon, and possibly life!

Mental illness is not an excuse. People are responsible for what they do and how they act.

Yes, a SANE person does. Why do you think it's called a MENTAL illness?

If the department wanted transparency they would release the body cam footage.

My Mother was a Paranoid Schizophrenic. I can't possibly tell you how many times her family would set us down and explain that her Illness was all our fault. If we'd just behave better and be more helpful my Mother wouldn't hear the Voices. Yes, my Mother was repeatedly hospitalized and yes she was always resistant to treatment and medications. The family was always quick to transfer responsibility and blame for her Illness onto others. My Maternal Grandmother would later share that it was to avoid bringing Shame onto the Family. Until we have a better and more comprehensive mental health care system in place, this will continue to happen.

@@sammyyourmammy8170 You're absolutely correct. At 18 I left and I haven't been back. The example I used shows what a lack of understanding we have concerning the Severely Mentally Ill in America. We don't have a Comprehensive Mental Health Care System in America. There's a big difference between amputating the left hand of people who are left handed (Because they are different) and identifying and treating people who are non-productive and a threat to themselves or others.

You can't de-escalate a situation where someone is trying to take your gun. Now it's a life and death fight. All the suspect had to do was comply.

I'm so sorry ma'am but he was unmedicated and he tried to take the officer's gun. The judge said this to me, "It's better to be judged by 12 than to be carried by 6." My son takes his medicine only if he wants to which is rare. Everyday I wonder if I will be next just like other family members who were hurt by their son who wouldn't take their medicine. The fault falls on your son, not the officer. If I meet my demise at my sons hands it falls on my son, not myself. We can't make grown people do the right thing. I'm so sorry for the loss of your son.

Let's remember that officers are not medical professionals. They are trained and paid to protect the public and they should not have to be killed doing it. I too agree with their decision not to charge the officers.

The cops gun was already drawn, so he intended to shoot regardless. And What he told dispatchers also did not match the video (The cop was the one that initiated by pushing).
It did not have to escalate this far, especially over stolen food from someone experiencing a mental health episode. Cops make situations like this 10 times worse than necessary most times.

Go watch the video again....stop supporting victim culture nonsense....just because a person is unarmed doesn't mean they can do what they please....white people get shot more than black people, the media just wants you to believe it's just black people to start a race war....
