It’s normally a 4 piece group, this was a big reunion show with all past and present members up to 2005.

Not only are there 3 drummers and 3 guitar players, on the left side of the stage is a 100 piece orchestra on 3 levels/floors and on the same on the right for a 100 piece choir. You can see the orchestra @14:30

I remember buying Battle Hymns when it came out in 1982, I was 12 years old, I had to mow many lawns to buy that vinyl. Same with Into Glory Ride after that.

😂 Awesome to see you check out Manowar and with this song and video none the less. I remember seeing this video when I was kid. These dudes have been at it since 1980. This song "Battle Hymn" comes from their album in 1983 making this song 40 years old this year. Manowar comes from upstate NY but are immensely popular outside the USA as you can see in this video. Vocalist Eric Adams has been in music since 1965 and he is also a New York State bow hunting instructor
Fun fact: You were complementing their stage show and performance. Manowar has broken the world record multiple times for "Worlds Loudest Band"

I'm glad you liked Manowar's live performance. There are so many amazing songs by Manowar to discover. I'd recommend you to check out Bridge of Death and Blood of the Kings. Hail and Kill is also a masterpiece.

'Battle Hymn' is over forty years old. Manowar's glory years were the 1980s. If you want to learn about Joey DeMayo's skills, listen to 'Sting Of The Bumblebee' (by Rimsky Korsakov). It's rare to hear such bass. All albums from those years are worth knowing. To start with, I would probably choose 'Kings Of Metal'. Generally, great music for guys in armor hitting each other with swords.

Manowar is insane. And Eric still kick ass in his 70s

There's no acoustic instruments here. What you hear in the beggining is the bass without distortion.

The bass player has a bunch of wierd setups. This is an 8 string bass with the string gauges octaves apart, like a 12 string guitar. But they are not usual bass string gauges. He always uses lighter gauge strings even on his 4 string basses and uses guitar pickups, not bass. And often distortion. (He is in the Left speaker u can hear when he cranks his built in preamp.) He is more like half bass half guitar.. Listen to the song 'Mountains' for more 8 string chimey bass tones. 🍻
