Dead Presidents is a masters class in filmmaking, storytelling and acting. The Hughes Brothers are OUR Scorcese. But better to me. I love MENACE II SOCIETY. It's brilliant. But Dead Presidents should be talked about more. It has so many deep concepts and themes surrounding the Foundational Black American experience. Each one of those themes and concepts could be complete films on their own. Incredible work.

I understood everything Allen Hughes said about Dead Presidents. And it’s good reflection on his part. Dead Presidents beautifully captured that tough 60s period whereas a lot of movies miss the mark on clothing, hair, cinematic color, etc. It was difficult to watch because there was absolutely NO vengeance for Anthony. I think it’s fine to end movies in that way from time to time because it is a fact of life. We had to sit with a hard truth for him.
The fact that he told the panther story so intricately inside the shakur story was truly amazing. No one could of done it better. The documentary broke my heart learning the extent the goberment went to suppress the black messiah smdh

Allen Hughes probably kept a lot of resentment from 2pac having him jumped UNTIL he had to do the research for the film. He was 2pac's peer. I'm a Army Veteran and I read that book years ago. In the book "Bloods" when Brothas would get caught by Vietnamese soldiers they would ask Brothas why we fighting this white man war. Also theu would call Brothas "Bloods" also related to gangs on the westcoast from Vietnam. Cowboy a Brotha from DC is the one to show Thailand how to have GoGo dancers who also was a Brotha in the Vietnam war went to Thailand for a break after the war..If you ever in Bangkok and go near Terminal 21, across from that is Cowboy a street like or close to Walking Street in Pattaya. Wow! I didn't know the Hughes brothers had a connection in Pomona, CA. I grew up in a neighboring city but I've never heard Pomona be called a mini-South Central. It may have well been; I knew more cholos than anything else in Pomona but pretty cool history to hear about them in that area.

I'm a Army Veteran and I read that book years ago. In the book "Bloods" when Brothas would get caught by Vietnamese soldiers they would ask Brothas why we fighting this white man war. Also theu would call Brothas "Bloods" also related to gangs on the westcoast from Vietnam. Cowboy a Brotha from DC is the one to show Thailand how to have GoGo dancers who also was a Brotha in the Vietnam war went to Thailand for a break after the war..If you ever in Bangkok and go near Terminal 21, across from that is Cowboy a street like or close to Walking Street in Pattaya. To visit all those places like I have so many times and reading a book like "Bloods" is something amazing
