The most underrated part about Barkley is his humbleness relative to how good he was as a player. This dude has every right to be as cocky as Shaq.

When a competitive person accepts an L, it comes with a lot of clarity and reflection. Part of Barkley's wisdom comes from his acceptance of his failures. To have the gumption to say "I never had a real job" is something that a lot of players will not admit. To them they do hard work, they're elite, they deserve it, etc etc. But Barkley keeps it real and mature.
I like Chuck for being honest and unfiltered.

Bird and Magic were getting older and Karl Malone was not at the same level with all around skills (although Malone was a better player when he got older). Statistically he was the best player on that dream team, he was also the highest scorer on the 96 team. When he got cut in 84 the other players were shocked because at that time they thought we was the best player also.
Look up the stats for the 1992 Olympic team. Barkley was the best. He.................shot...........71% from the field!!!!!!!!!! And was the leading scorer.
Overall, Mike's better and Mike was great in the Olympics too. But during those Olympics, Charles was #1 out of anybody.

He gave his all for the Olympics, and when he was cut by Bobby Knight in 84 as well. Jordan wanted everyone in 92 to be great. Jordan coasted in 84 Olympics to win gold. Charles was hungry, and played that way until his body couldn’t do it anymore. And it’s crazy how Magic and Bird took the NBA to stardom, then Jordan took it even further. His shoe deals, other endorsements, fame in other gyms, for the love of the game, continued marketability way past his playing days. No one be has made new strides, no one has touched him since. The 2 years he made 30 million from the Bulls, only a few years ago was someone now paid that much.
In terms of money, Mike was the one who really bring it to another level. But after him, it was Kobe and Shaq. As great as Tim Duncan was, he was never a guy who can sell.

Folks have to realize that Chuck, playing at the PF position at 6'6" or however tall he was, he was putting up insane numbers. Just based off of numbers there's a top tier at that position. Karl Malone, Tim Duncan, Kevin McHale, KG, and Chuck. Not necessarily in that order. The point is that Chuck was a half foot shorter than all those guys. If he was their size...sheeeeeeeeeeeeeit.

People also forget how good Chuck's perimeter game was. He used to run point forward, and if you didn't guard him, he would nail a three in your face. And in the post, forget about it. He was too strong and skilled to be contained.

This was an interesting conversation, but in 92 or any year, no way was chuck the 2nd best player in the world. Maybe 2nd best offensively, but even then Malone was slightly better than him most years. In 91 and 92 though, the 2nd best player was definitely David Robinson, who believe it or not actually gets more disrespected nowadays than even Barkley. You could honestly even argue that in 91 and 92 the Admiral was better than Jordan, he just didn't have as much help.
